Sexism in Philippine Literature

My classmate and I are doing a research for our Research Writing class on sexism in Philippine literature, especially back then. Sexism in the sense on how women are presented and treated in these literary texts. Especially when they are typically characterized (or stereotyped) as helpless damsels-in-distresses, submissive housewives, evil temptresses and etc.

Can you cite some literary texts (novels, short stories, poems, etc) based on our country that could be/are considered sexist or plainly unfair to women? In addition, you may discuss your views on this subject. Thanks.
