I think maabutan ng Ako Legal Wife ang Mulawin sa pagiging Number 3 sa MMFF. Dahil ito sa pagkapanalo ni Zsazsa ng Best Actress. May final number na ba?

    Kawawang Anabelle.

KAYA LUGING-LUGI talaga...

and as to Annabelle Rama, sour-graping at bitter lang yun... funny thing is, siya pa ang nagsabing "inapiapi ang anak ko"... siya lang ang nagsabi nun ha... alam nya walang kalabanlaban ang anak niya! hehehe

Ayon sa news kagabi, as reported by Mario Dumawal

NATIONWIDE GROSS BOX OFFICE RECEIPTS (as of January 7)
    1. Enteng Kabisote 2-- P108 M
    2. Exodus: Tales from Enchanted Kingdom -- P76 M
    3. Mulawin the Movie -- P65 M

UNOFFICIAL GROSS BOX OFFICE RESULT(conflict with the figures of Mario Dumawal)

NOTES: Up to now, the MMDA hasn’t publicly announced their statistics, so we settle with what we recently got from our sources.

As of Jan. 7, the final day of the MMFF 2005, the topgrossers: Enteng Kabisote, P108.37M; Exodus P75.64M; Mulawin, P55.76M; Legal Wife, P49.76M; and Shake, Rattle & Roll 2K5, P32.71.

Blue Moon, P15M; Kutob, P10.8; Terrorist Hunter, P1.9M; Lagot Ka Sa Kuya Ko, P1.71M; and Mourning Girls, P1.54M.

Oh, I canot help but remember that some 15 years ago, Regal’s Last Two Minutes starring Regal Babies plus Alvin Patrimonio and Benjie Paras was the top grosser with over P20 million only and the MMFF only grossed only P100 million plus.

But then, admission rates then was only P12.50, a measly 10 percent of what it costs now, P100 or even more in some places.

MMFFP ’06 breaks filmfest records with P353-M earnings

Some staples at the annual film festival: Megamovies topbilled by box-office hitmakers, colorful parade, massive tri-media promotions, the red carpet where elegantly- dressed stars ham it up, an elaborate awards night, and not to forget, fiery post-award controversies.

All these are present in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival 2006 (MMFFP) - and more!

Amid the tearful hysterics of Mother Lily, the roaring rage of director Joel Lamangan, and the mouthful being launched by Annabelle Rama, the MMFFP 2006 will still go down as the highest grossing filmfest ever in showbiz history.

Raking in R353-million in gross receipts, MMFFP 2006 beat the record set in 2003 (R328-million), followed by R300.07 in 2004. Manny Nuqui, president of the Philippine Motion Pictures Producers Association (PMPPA) expressed elation on behalf of the organizers with these results.

For Metro Manila alone (from Dec. 25 to Jan. 7), the entries busted box-office records with ‘’Enteng Kabisote’’ on the top slot, earning R83 million. This was followed by ‘’Exodus’’ (R60 million), ‘’Mulawin’’ (R43 million), ‘’Ako Legal Wife’’ (R41 million), ‘’Shake, Rattle and Roll’’ (R27 million), ‘’Blue Moon’’ (R15 million), ‘’Kutob’’ (R10 million), ‘’Terrorist Hunter’’ (R2million), ‘’Lagot Ka Sa Kuya Ko’’ (R1.6 million), and ‘’Mourning Girls’’ (R1.5 million).

Other sources revealed the following over-all box-office ranking: ‘’Enteng Kabisote,’’ ‘’Exodus,’’ ‘’Mulawin,’’ ‘’Ako Legal Wife,’’ ‘’Shake, Rattle and Rolle’’ and ‘’Kutob’’ almost neck-and-neck; ‘’Blue Moon,’’ ‘’Terrorist Hunter,’’ ‘’Lagot Ka,’’ and ‘’Mourning Girls.’’

And the top grossers are ...
‘Enteng Kabisote 2,’ ‘Exodus’ and ‘Mulawin’

Editor's Note: Published on Page A2-1 of the January 12, 2006 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer

FANTASY film “Enteng Kabisote 2, OKAY Ka Fairy Ko, The Legend Continues,” a co-production of OctoArts and M-Zet Films, was the over-all top grosser in the just-concluded Metro Manila Film Festival, according to MMFF executive committee member Manny Nuqui.

Nuqui did not reveal the gross earnings of the 10 entries. The festival opened on Christmas Day and ended Jan. 7. Inquirer Entertainment obtained a report from a major distributor that shows “Enteng Kabisote 2,” directed by Tony Reyes and starring Vic Sotto, made P108.37 million from tickets sales nationwide.

A far second is Imus Productions’ “Tales from the Enchanted Kingdom: Exodus,” with P75.64 million, the report said. “Exodus” won most of the technical awards, and was named Second Best Picture during the awards rites at Aliw Theater.

“Mulawin The Movie” placed third, said Nuqui.

Directed by Dominic Zapata and Mark Reyes, the film earned P55.76 million, according to the distributor. “Mulawin” was co-produced
by GMA Films and Regal Entertainment and stars Richard Gutierrez and Angel Locsin.

    Poor showing

Regal Entertainment’s comedy flick “Ako Legal Wife: Mano Po 4?” directed by Joel Lamangan, came in fourth with P49.76 million. It features festival Best Actress winner Zsa Zsa Padilla and Best Supporting Actress Cherrie Pie Picache.

“Shake Rattle & Roll 2K5,” a horror trilogy also produced by Regal Entertainment, landed the fifth slot with P32.171 million.

The period drama “Blue Moon,” again from Regal, was declared Best Picture, but the Joel Lamangan film ranked only sixth, with P15 million.

“Kutob,” produced by Canary Films, is in the seventh slot. It made just P10.8 million but won the Best Director award for Joey Reyes and Best Actor for Marvin Agustin.

In eighth place is Val Iglesias’ action-drama flick “Terrorist Hunter,” with P1.9 million. The film, from independent producer Double Impact, has Eddie Garcia in the lead role.

The action movie “Lagot Ka Sa Kuya Ko” placed ninth with P1.71 million. Ronnie Ricketts stars in this movie which he also produced, wrote and directed.

Poorest box office showing was by “Mourning Girls,” a black comedy directed by Gil Portes. The film, starring Chin Chin Gutierrez, Assunta de Rossi, Gyldel Mercado and Juliana Palermo, made P1.4 million.

Latest figures released by the MMFF execom place the festival’s nationwide over-all gross at P353 million. Nuqui said the MMFF made a total of P328 million in 2003 and, last year, P300.07 million.

There was a P5 increase in the price of festival movie tickets this year.

Nuqui is also the president of the Philippine Motion Pictures Producers Association.

This year’s MMFF was co-produced by the Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC).

galing ng Enteng 2. mukhang malalampasan pa yung kinita nung Enteng 1 na umabot ng 120M on its entire run (including the extended run). marami pa ring sinehan ang nagpapalabas nito.

too bad for Mulawin dahil mangilan-ngilan na lang ang nagpapalabas nito. wala ring silib yung rated A ng CEB (100% tax rebate) dahil after pa ng festival effective yun.

good for Ako legal wife and Blue moon dahil rated B sila at may 65% tax rebate sila after ng festival. tubong lugaw ang Regal nito lalo sa Ako legal wife. yung Exodus rin mukhang makakabawi dahil may foreign release na ito plus extended rin at may 65% tax rebate din after ng fetival. tubong-lugaw din ang SRR. at least yung Regal malaki rin ang nabawi kahit lugi sila sa Mulawin. sana next year wag puro Regal movies ang mapili. unfair sa iba na gustong sumali.

baka naman matakot na mag-produce ang gma nyan. imagine, mulawin only earned 55M nationwide, while its production budget is "allegedly" 80M. malaking lugi yan ha.
