if u say its d BEST thing to do, will it also be the RIGHT thing to do?

nalilito lang ako..

kapag ba sinabi mong "best" = "right"

kasi sometimes when we decide...sinasabi nating un ang "nakakabuti" ung ang "best" na dapat gawin...pero in some way hndi pa din siya "tama"...

The right is always the best but the best is not always right. So they say.

    hmmm...? magandang pala isipan

Best thing to do... parang pag-iisipang mo pa lang gawin.

Right thing to do... talagang sigurado ka na na tama nga ang pasya mo na ito ang nararapat mong gawin...

Wow!.. lalim yata na ubos ang power ko sumagot.

For me saying that your decision is the BEST is relative. It might be the best for you but then for other people's respective it won't be the best, not even the RIGHT thing to do. It really depends on the very instance you're in.
  • It depends on what you mean by "best". Right has only one connotation, meaning it is right (pardon the tautology). While best, it can entail many things and is relative. It might be best for a criminal to hide so that he may not be caught, but it isn't the right thing.

it doesnt entirely mean that if its the best thing to do then it's the right thing..puwede its the best way to do things pero it's not necessarily right..it depends on who benefits from it..

and it depends rin on what the purpose is..
  • er... dear... ever heard of Machiavelli?

hi lucca...hmm machiavelli...heard of it...but not quite sure? is he/she a philantropist or wat?? why wat about machiavelli?? :hmm:

so meaning...it really depends on who's perspective or kanino intended ung gagawin na decision??

so if somebody..lets say my fren decides to do something and i could benefit from it...it will be the RIGHT decision..but if not, mali ung decision nya? ganun ba un?? :depressed:

Exitus acta probat? The end justifies the means?

Niccolo Machiavelli. Italian guy. Around the Renaissance, I think. Wrote a manual about ruling countries that can almost be a "For Dummies" book if it was published much later. Real practical stuff there, but not the kind that gets you many friends.
so if somebody..lets say my fren decides to do something and i could benefit from it...it will be the RIGHT decision..but if not, mali ung decision nya? ganun ba un??

So yeah, using his (Machiavelli's) way of doing things, you can say that your friend's wrong decision is all right, as long as you gain something from it.

But hey, that's just one way of looking at it, sweetie. Kaya nga maraming philosophers/writers eh, para marami kang "options". Hindi lang naman si Machiavelli ang "tama". *okay*

"best" is not always "right". best just means that it is the most beneficial among the choices befitting your goals or targets.

sometimes even the choices/options are not "right"...but we have to choose which is the best among them.
  • right vs. good

di lahat ng tama ay mabuti, di rin lahat ng mabuti ay tama

    relate this to Heinz's dilemma:
magnanakaw ka ba para isalba ang buhay ng mahal mo?
ano ang tama? ano ang mabuti?

right is universal, good/ best is relative.
  • IMO, "right" is also relative.

depends on the laws and standards that the person adheres to. what could be right for you may be wrong for me.

stealing money to save your beloved's life may be forgivable to you but maybe not for me, it may be right in PI but not in KSA, it may be acceptable to Christians but not to Buddhists, it may be right today but not in the future....

    relative.
  • best simply means the result which gives the most benefit. right implies a social and cultural background. good implies a moral judgement.
