How do I become a Christian?

  • I don't think CARM is a very good source. They condemn other people who are not in their type of faith. I don't think that's something very conducive to find new paths of finding out the truth.

These are the steps on becoming a Christian:

    1. Contrary to what the post tells us, Jesus Christ did establish His Church here on earth.

    2. This Church that Jesus Christ founded and established may or may not be called a religion, but the fact as put forth in the New Testament is that He indeed established His one true Church here on earth before He ascended to heaven.

    3. To become a Christian then, one therefore has to find out what and where this true Church of Jesus Christ is in this world at present, among the thousands of Christian Churches and Congregations that claim to be His very own one true Church that He established, and after finding this out with full assurance and certainty, join this one true Church.

    4. And to find out which is the one true Church of Jesus Christ, one must ask for the help of these sources: the Holy Bible, the Holy Ghost, and Christian preaching and writings.

    5. Once you have already found Christ's one true Church that He indeed established before His ascencion, through one's asking of the Holy Ghost and through one's investigations through the Holy Bible and Christian preaching and writing, one then need to study the doctrines of this true Church, and then obey the same, and then join this Church of Jesus Christ.

    6. This is the true process of becoming a Christian.

Religion is not what can save anyone when judgment day comes but our relationship with Jesus.

"This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him." (1 John 4:9)

YOU SEEK JESUS CHRIST... NOT A RELIGION!
  • Yes, I think one should keep in mind it's not the religion that matters. It's in what you believe in. Sometimes those two are not the same.
  • How do you become a true Christian? Wow, that's a very complex question, eh? The road is narrow and the journey is long. It you are honest and sincere in your quest, God will know that. Everybody is different so God will call us in different situations and different times in our lives. A good start, however, is to talk to Him directly and privately through prayers. Talk to Him like you are talking to a friend and not with memorized, repetitive prayers. Pour out your fears and needs. He already know what you want before you even ask and He knows your character and personal motives. Ask that He shows you how to know Him and that you are ready for whatever it takes to be a true Christian. God does not demand technical knowledge, He demands humble and righteous character. Ask God in all humbleness and surrendered spirit. Relationship with God is a private matter- strictly between you and HIM.

Although I am a Christian, it irks me no end when someone says that religion is not what can save you. if that is true, then why do we say Muslims cannot enter heaven, or Buddhists for that matter? Or even Jews? Now, the Jews believe in God, and they are after all the Chosen People. They have not received Jesus to be Saviour, true, but then they have not denied God in any other way either.

All the people you say will be in trouble because if they stay there they will not have a relationship with Jesus. As with the Jews, remember that they had the perfect opportunity since Jesus came to them as Jew. But they rejected Him as well. God will deal with them again come judgment day.

Now the religion thing does not only pertain to the people you mentioned above. But it also pertains to those who call themselves as "Christians". Jesus says:

"God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." (John 4:24)

Are these people worshipping God as spirit? Meaning do they really worship God or idols? Then are they worshipping the one true God as a Trinity? The God of the Bible?

Based on this, the relationship with the Lord is the most important and not the religion. Our relationship will show how we worship and remember that worship is not only done when one is in church.

Worship is a way of life for a Christian.
