PHILIPPINE BASKETBALL legend Adriano "Jun" Papa Jr., one of the deadliest shooters of all-time, passed away last Thursday (October 27) at the age of 60. His remains were cremated later in the day.

Known as "The Rifleman", Papa played in the PBA from 1975 to 1980 averaging 17.5 points over 200 games for Mariwasa, Filmanbank and Great Taste. He made the 1977 Mythical Five.

As an amateur, the 5'11" Papa was a regular on the national team and played in the 1968 Mexico and 1972 Munich Olympics. He is a product of the National University.

Papa's son Adriano "Adi" Papa Jr. II played for the De La Salle Green Archers and was part of the 1990 UAAP champion team. The younger Papa is now an assistant coach with the NCAA's Mapua Tech Cardinals.
