honda civic engine id

Hi guys I need help on identifying my car's engine. I'll be purchasing/looking for parts in the net and don't know what to get.

I have a 96-97 honda civic lxi a/t, not sure of the year... was bought dec 96.
searched through the net and was not really able to get much info.

the sites i browsed through were consistent with the modelling info but i cant seem to find 1 that would match mine.

these are what i got so far.

D15XX = sohc 1.5L
B15XX = dohc 1.5L

mine has PH15

and for the "XX" part.. there's Y8,Y7

does anyone know what type of engine my car has?

wala atang code yan pag locally manufactured. i think it is referred as "ph15 local lxi engine". kahit 96-2k na vti ganun din. "ph16 local vti engine".

D15Y7 is Honda Civic DX/LX/CX 1996-2000

Your car is an EK-series Civic, it should say so on the VIN. "EK" is the chassis code

As for your engine, I bet you have a "D15B7" unit using Honda's global engine code system. That's the D15B variant with no VTEC in the cylinder head; I seem to run the same engine in my 1999 City 1.5EXi.

The locally manufactured Hondas state engine codes a bit differently. "PH15" and "PH16" are non-VTEC SOHC engines that correspond to D15 and D16, respectively. I bet "PH" just indicates it was assembled here, because newer Hondas no longer use the "PH" code. They've reverted to the usual engine codes (B-, D-, F-, K-, L- and so forth)
