Very rare... I saw one up for sale in the Manila Bulletin a month or so ago (for 180K if memory serves me right).

There was one up for sale in the Hondaclub board also but it was kinda pricey.
  • Got the Initial D fever huh. *okay*
  • i had one a long time ago. my bro sent it to me when he was still stationed in japan as a sony executive. right-hand drive siya kaya medyo mahirap. i sold it cheaply after around four/five years of driving it kasi aside from it being a right-hand drive, the parts are hard to find!

considering the car never made it to our shores thru local dealers, MAHIRAP TALAGANG MAGHANAP ng car na yan.

it's one of the last RWD na 'econoboxes' though...

    so that accounts for something..

Good luck finding one in decent condition. The few AE86s I've seen were all beat up and even then they'll command a stiff price for what's essentially a 20-year-old car.

yah... it's beat up by now.. the engine din most probaly has had its peak long ago na.

unless you plan to do an engine change anyway!

yah. get an integra engine and throw it in there.. man it'd be kick ***.

heh, I know alot of initial d fans overseas who bought a hachi roku over the years. So far, you're the first Filipino that I saw who wants a trueno too. :) Sayang nga, sa kanila, madali lang makahanap (US and other countries) with the help of the internet.

I believe you can get it here at around 60-80K (but you have to spend more if you want the exact parts, etc of Takumi's hachi-roku in the 4th stage)

    60-80K? Saan yan?

Going price I've read for an AE86 is 190K. Add 25K or so for a silver-top 20-valve 4A-GE engine swap.

    B16B (gen1 Civic Type R) engines cost 70k I think. :p
  • stock nung Trueno 4AGE guys diba? :)

If the Initial D manga is any valid reference, it is. The AE86 carries the 4A-GEU as stock.

Ang ayaw ko lang sa Toyota engines yung naming scheme nila. There are a LOT of variants of the basic 4A-G engine alone, including at least 3 4A-GE variants. The one bolted to the Trueno makes 128 HP in stock trim, but there are later versions from the AE101 and AE111 Levin/Truenos that make as much as 177 HP, depending on whether it's a "black top" or a "silver top."

There's even a racing 4A-GE used in the Formula Toyota series in the US that makes 240 HP and an 11,000 RPM redline. This is Takumi's second engine in that famous anime. To make matters more interesting, there's also the supercharged 4A-GZE.

I'm not much of a Toyota engine expert, so I suggest surfing for more info :)

Thanks for the info bro! *okay* That 4A-GE with 240HP and 11,000 RPM is mind boggling. But i think Bunta's Scooby fits him more. :)
  • I have seen an ad on a 1970+ sprinter and seen the car 1st hand, the body is quite the same as the AE86 but the only difference is the Flipping headlights. they are selling it for 50k. beat up body. stinky interior (owner is a smoker) and in tri color scheme (red for rust, green for mold and gray) ... the problem is we don't have anymore space in the garage (2 car capaticity lng kasi house namin) and the spare garage my friend has is already occupied by the galant sigma where trying to PIMP!!! too... bad...
  • get a trueno and put an s2000 engine ... or the 240hp 11k rpm engine

If you don't want the potential spare-parts headaches of the Trueno's retractable headlights, you can try looking for an AE86 Levin. Fixed headlights yun.

Again, good luck finding one in decent condition and at a price you wouldn't murder for. :)

or just keep the engine inside an s2000, eh?

One complaint about the S2000 is that it's quite a nervous machine: unforgiving and unprogressive when the rear end does let go. The newer facelifted version (2004-up) remedies this with little tweaks to the steering (now 7% slower) and the suspension, but the twitchiness is still there.

That's why some people have decided to swap the S2000's screaming F20C engine into other cars. I've seen a crazy mechanic swap the F20C unit into an old KP61 Toyota Starlet.

it's not like 90% of these people will use the s2000 to corner into eau rouge doing flat out.
