are cases of "the condom broke" and "oops, withrew too late" completely hopeless? is there something that can still be done to prevent fertilization (but not abortion)?

Yup. Morning-after pills are high doses of a combination of estrogen and progesterone found in birth control pills. It should only be used in an emergency situation, under a physician's instruction and guidance. Since the dosage and number of birth control pills administered vary by the type of pill used, it's dangerous to self-administer yourself with pills. While FDA has approved the use of some birth control pills as being safe and effective (75% of the time), these high dosages may disrupt the menstrual cycle and cause very uncomfortable side effects. And on the offchance (25%) that a person still gets pregnant, there is a big possibility that the fetus is going to develop abnormally.0

quote, ebtg from another forum:
I'm a firm believer that abortion is murder, though, so let let me state these for the record: Life begins at the moment of fertilization. Necessarily, I don't believe in the use of "abortifacient" contraceptives, or those contraceptives which work AFTER the ***** has fertilized the egg. These include the IUD, which prevents the zygote (fertilized egg) from attaching itself to the uterus; MAPs, which allows you to discharge the zygote, much like the IUD, etc.
that made perfect sense to me.
thanks for the info Ira, but, how about pills w/c can be taken before sexual intercourse? there such thing in the Philippines?
and another thing, how many hours after intercourse can the Morning After Pill be taken anyway for it to be still effective?0 -
Pills taken before intercourse? That's oral contraceptives, taken daily. There is no such thing as popping just one pill right before intercourse.
As for morning after pills, you can't get them over-the-counter, either here or abroad. They are given within 72 hours post-coitus. And clarification: Morning after pills are not regular contraceptives which you can buy with a prescription in any drug store. You don't use them on a regular basis after sex. They are only given in hospital settings or in emergency situations.0
