What Tires? — PinoyExchange

What Tires?

hi, need some help on this (first time to do this)...

i need to replace my two rear wheels kasi bumigay na the rubber. the two sa likod are michelin mxf sport 215/45R17. kailangan ba ganyan din specs ng kukunin ko or ok lang na iba nang konti? what's a good alternative, if ever?

how much pala umaabot ang price ng gulong nowadays?

my dad told me to put the new ones in front and the ones sa harap ilipat sa likod. what's this about? and what's this modified x thing?

thanks!

  • What are your tires at the front? I think it's safer if all four of your tires are of the same kind, afaik.

I'm not familiar with tire prices but I bought my replacement tire for a bit above 2000+ (Goodyear Eagle NCT-5, 14"). Don't expect any good tire to come cheaper than that. There's a thread about tires here, you can look up some prices.

Two new ones at the front I think is better, since it's the front tires that bear the brunt in hard braking. Modified X thing? I got no idea too :glee:

Your's is a Space Wagon right? And you got 17" rims? cool ;)

You can get other brands, not necessarily Michelin, as long as you maintain the size and width of the tire (215/45 R17).

Your dad was probably assuming your car's front-wheel drive (which 80% of cars made nowadays are). If you have the same size of tires/wheels at the front and rear, put the newer rubber in front because the front tires work harder than the rears. In front-wheel drive cars, the front wheels do both acceleration and cornering.

A good alternative? Toyo Proxes T-1S if you got the budget...so many people I know recommend this.

yes, i'm using a space wagon w/ 17 chrome mags :) medyo hassle lang nga sometimes kasi you can really feel bumps on the road (any suggestions how i could improve the ride?)

the ones up front are lemans (i think same specs as the michelins).

any recommended stores? i'll check the other thread too. thanks!

that's the draw back of having larger rims. anyway, falken and dunlop are good brands of affordable tires. with regard to the bumps, try inflating tires with nitrogen. i've heard good feedback about it.

It'll be a bit more expensive to inflate tires with nitrogen instead of compressed air, but from what I know you should enjoy more stable/constant tire pressures that are less affected by temperature changes brought by high speed driving or cornering.

Sa TireBoy daw PhP50 ang nitrogen inflation.

not to mention that nitrogen inflated tires give better ride. i plan to have it done in my car probably this week to compansate for the harsh ride of my gas shocks.

will try to share the results asap.

If you find the ride too harsh, have you considered changing to smaller rims (16" or even 15")?... :) MAs mura pa goma nun.

You don't have to necessarily use the same tire on all 4 corners but it is adviseable to have similar tires on the fronts (left and right) and rears (left and right)

Still the primary reason why I refuse to trade up to bigger mags

Although maraming magandang 15s ah...hmmm. I'll need a modest drop of ride height though.

    CAlifornia drop? :eyecrazy::naughty: hehehe...

The '94-'97 Galant 15" rims looks quite good on a Space Wagon i may add. :)
