  • Personally, I've never seen a philippine driver's handbook ever since I started driving.

    yep.. none of those..

meron dun sa lto.. sa loob.. naka paint sa pader..

    lol.
  • Oh goodness no. If the vast majorty really knew how to drive we wouldnt need Skyways, overpasses, etc.
  • (1) Ask here how many people really studied and answered the LTO test to get a drivers license. I got a non-pro (copied answer key on 40 questions) and later renewed it to pro license (copied answer key on all 60 questions) without even reading a single question on the test. :eyecrazy:
    (2) People who went to driving school might be familiar with Philippine road rules. When I enrolled before at A1 Driving they gave me a thick handbook which covers almost everything about Philippine driving rules. Plus the seminars, lectures and others. :) Sabi dito sa handbook nila chapter 1: licensing, chapter 2: motor vehicle registration, 3: defensive driving, 4: driving ... drugs & liquor, ... 6: road signs ... until chapter 12: orientation. :naughty2:

Unang Hirit has a segment before called "I Saw the Sign", in which Love A?over carries a traffic sign and asks any random jeepney driver what it means. I think that in every 50 people that she asked, only one or two got it right.

Looking at the drivers' faces, you could easily say they're absolutely clueless what each sign meant. It's so pathetic, they don't even know what the sign that shows two cars standing side by side means.
  • Most of the drivers are not educated on road rules. problema kasi dito sa Pinas eh walang kwenta yung License test ng LTO eh.
  • The problem with making the LTO raise the bar would be discriminatory to those poor fools.

people has to start believing that driving is a PRIVILEDGE, and not a right.
  • :imu: sa abroad oo,sobrang napaka-law abiding citizen ng mga pinoy pagdating sa driving, pero pagdating sa 'pinas, nawawala, umiiral ang "teritoryo" mentality. :glee:
  • ^ that's because chances of being caught here are slim, and if you do, you can just hand over some cash

  • ako i reviewed some answer keys pero nakalimutan ko rin un ibang mga sagot kya... 31/40 lng ako muntik pang bumaksak pero ako un una natapos ang lakas pa ng loob ko kala ko perfect na hahaha...

Are Filipino drivers educated on road rules?

    The sad truth... NO.

Me, I honestly did not review anything when i took my test in the LTO... I am aware only of basic road courtesies (right of way in a 4 way stop, giving way to those going up an incline, using my signal lights, the meaning of those single and double yellow solid lane dividers/lines, etc...).

When I went over my cousin's reviewer for the U.S. license exams... i was clueless on quite a number of them. :D
  • Kasama ba sa Driving Education yung Pagdura at pagyosi habang nagdradrive!? :D:D
  • Karamihan ng mga Pinoy na kasama ko dito laging sinasabi na pag nakapagmaneho ka sa Pinas, you can drive anywhere. The reality is pag natuto kang mag drive sa Pinas, you'll be a menace on roads anywhere. Pati ako ganun. I came here, took the driving exam, drove like I did in the Philippines (where I was driving for 11 years bago pumunta dito) and have to take the driving exam 3X bago makapasa. Yung written walang problema (take 1 tapos perfect pa) pero di mo masasabing educated ka na pag nakapasa ka ng written driving exam. Kulang din kasi tayo talaga sa disiplina. Sad but true!

    . . . . . . . . . . . .
    NO!
  • The laws governing our local roads arent identical to those of other countries so what is legal & right here may not be abroad.

There is a Phil driver's handbook you can buy from National Bookstore. I got one when I was learning how to drive & the author's son is a friend of mine.

Seriously though a lot of bad driving habits here are formed due to necessity. Imagine if you will if 1 driver were to suddenly do things by the book it'll cause havok as 99 other drivers would drive like a-holes. In India disc brakes are rarely sold to the masses. Not because they're expensive but because it could cause road accidents as everyone has a drum break based vehicle.
  • nope. road rules aren't being followed

Interesting. I used to think the same way. Mahirap pala. Thanks Macky.

Paolo, how much was the driver's handbook selling for? Might as well get myself a copy.
