The New Toyota Hi-Ace Grandia

I saw the new Hi-Ace Grandia in the papers the other day. Looks really nice. What does everyone think of it??

There is no new Hi Ace Grandia. Toyota opted to release the lesser equipped Hi Ace commuter at the present time.

Compared to the outgoing Grandia, the new Commuter still has a leaf spring rear suspension. The next generation Grandia will most probably have coils again.

ahh okay ... so yung grandias you see sa HK arent the ones coming out here then.
makes sense though. since i dont think it'll sell here naman eh.

I think Hi Ace Commuter yung nasa papers.May parating na GL,expect ang engine ay yung 2.7 VVTi tulad ng sa Hi Lux 4X2 Prerunner
  • I saw the new hi-ace commuter at toyota pasong tamo...it's a freaking school bus! It's BIG, albeit cramped, cause they really put all the seats they could bolt into it.

Checked it out yesterday afternoon as well... If you're looking at it for a family van, better wait for the Grandia/Super Grandia variants, the Commuter model being sold now is just too spartan (you can't even adjust the seatbacks of the front passenger seat). It has no power windows, mirrors, tach and the seats are all upright and cramped with thin padding (pang commuter bus nga talaga).... I spent more time oogling at the LC Prado and Previa. :)

The Urvan Estate 3.0 is still my big van of choice at the moment (until they release the GRandia version with the 3.0L turbo? :D).

Sana mataas yung ground clearance para pwedeng pansabak kahit sa lubak ng sumasayad.

I agree with all your comments slamm. The Commuter grade Hi-ace was never meant to pamper its passengers in utmost luxury. It's really a spartan model to begin with. But, look at the price tag - hello P1.0M+ for a barebones van? Atrocious!

The Nissan Urvan Estate 3.0 has striking similarities in terms of looks (front end and side view) with the new Hi-ace.

I'd still go for the ovoid Previa or a new Grandis.

same here... previa or grandis na lng

Toyota is hoping that the Commuter will take over as the choice of shuttle service operators [instead of the Innova].

But at the Commuter's current price, I doubt if that will be the case.

True... ilang pasahe yan bago ma-break even yung presyo? :) If i we're an operator, i'd probably look at the Hyundai H100/Besta option or kung brand new, Nissan Urvan Shuttle.

Hmmm...who knows, TMPI might be forced to keep the Revo in production because of this? :)

For a price of a bit over a Million? Not a good buy. :nope:

It can take 15 people though, for whatever that may amount to (or maybe even more, given the practice among shuttle drivers of squeezing people in without mercy).

Perhaps they did a cost per seat computation like airlines do
