Yup, i saw those when i was in Iloilo last year... galeng no? They really got the lines well. :)

I'm wondering if they made use of surplus body panels (front facia, hood, doors, and rear facia) then placed it on an extended jeepney chassis...

yep i see those type of jeeps here in cebu but not really much. Most of the jeeps here in Cebu are hybrid Elf trucks and painted with a lot of "advertisements" like formula1 cars... bigger and much more powerful, kaya nga when going to highway trips ang bilis... ill take a picture one of these days.

Hows it like sa jeeps in Manila? last time i was there and took a ride, most of the jeeps in the area (Quiapo-Espana) were WWII/standard looking pa.

shun_sakurai when in doubt, FLAT OUT!
I saw those sorts of vehicles when I was in Bacolod last September. Most of the Bacolod ones though were extended L300s and Elf light trucks.

Yep, they haven't changed much in terms of appearance. Some of them are even longer now though.

They've been making jeepneys like these since I can remember. When I studied in Iloilo (Oh, about 30 or so years ago!:D) jeepneys in Manila can't compare. Some of them ride like real cars. Kung minsan nga e kung umuulan e ayaw pang magsakay!:D
  • ayos ah. sa parteng Malolos classic jeepney naman ang design, short (5-6 passengers on the side),pure stainless steel body panels. Sa bandang Marilao-Sta Maria, "naked-style", walang hood, chromed/stainless engine blocks.

sa taytay they have drawings of their boy or daughter sa driver's side door.. or sto. nino.
  • yeah, they have really good looking jeepneys in other parts of the country...sa manila lang naman pangit ang mga jeep

pero pinaka-maporma ang mga ilonggo (includes bacolod)

Sad thing if you look at things... we've been copying jeepneys for over 50 years whilest our Asian neighbors have already ventured into full automobile production. :(

    ^^So true slamm
The jeep, though part of our Filipino tradition needs to be phased out. I dont know but probably it prevents us from advancing forward and to be honest jeepneys are like a symbol of Filipino arrogance and lack of discipline. Our Asian neighbors have moved forward, China has plans of launching MAglev Trains and here we are still stucked with a WWII liability. lets move on.

The look great from afar, but the craftsmanship and engineering when viewed up close leaves a lot to be desired.

And it is still ancient (very ancient) running gear underneath those swoopy bodies.
