NBA-PBA clones

Caveat:

NBA players in general are more talented, athletic, physically imposing and the level of play in the NBA is exponentially greater than the competition in the PBA.

PBA players who are seen as counterparts of NBA players are not expected to play at the same level if they are hypothetically put in the NBA.

----

After getting those out of the way, let me get to the purpose of this thread. Who among the PBA players play like certain NBA players (relative to the PBA level of competition)?

Tony Dela Cruz - Dirk Nowitzki

This is a no brainer. At 6'4" TDLC is tall for his small forward position just like Nowitzki who plays at 4. Both like to play the perimeter and hit elbow jumpers more often than not. Both are good free throw shooter and most of all, none of them are winning Defensive Player of the Year anytime soon.

Ali Peek - Elton Brand

Brand and Peek are slightly undersized in terms of height for their positions, but they more than make up for this with their bulk and the space they occupy in the lane. Both hardly resort to spectacular plays, but they are just as effective in silently helping their team's cause.

Rich Alvarez - Shawn Marion

Both are among the most athletic forwards in their respective leagues who crash the boards well. The clincher of course is their awkward (read: BAD) looking shooting strokes which surprisingly enough is as good as any other above average tweener.

Benjie Paras - Chris Webber

Above average post offensive players and passers... hits the mid-range jumper consistently... gets hurt --- a lot... gets 2-3 travelling calls a game... fouls and turnover machine.

    Stephon Marbury - Mike Cortez

Both are excellent point guards that could score in bunches and get teammates involved. Posseses almost identical crossover and hesitation moves and they're both built like a tank. Marburys more selfish though.

    Jun Limpot - Brad Daugherty

Extremely talented and versatile big men that are branded as soft. Neither has a championship ring.

  • Di ata ko agree kay Stephon-Mike Cortez comparison. Hindi naman scoring in bunches si Mike eh. Feeling ko nga eh sayang lang talent niya with Alaska. He is not given proper offensive sets especially with the triangle (it is not fit for his style na can pass can score kaya I feel na medyo limited yung offensive opportunities niya).

  • Jimmy Alapag - Jason Williams

...speedy point guards who have a penchant for pull-up three point shots in transition. They also lead the break and set up teammates for easy baskets and are among their league's top passers.

Mark Telan - Keith Van Horn

Both are among the most maligned people in their respective leagues for not living up to the hype and their 'potential'. To their credit though, both have been steadily improving. Playing style similarities: midrange and long range game.

Both overpriced power forwards who love to play small and shoot medium range jumpers.

Both are capable scorers who seem to play for losing teams.
  • young Bal DAvid - old Nick Van Exel. loves to stop and shoot during fastbreaks.

Helterbrand - old Nick Van exel - same as above.

    Brandon Cablay - Leandro Barbosa

Cablay is about 5'11-6'0 and Barbosa is 6'4. Thats the only difference that i see. As far as physical built and style of play, almost identical.

    Tyson Chandler - Rafi Reavis

Both are long and rangy. Defensive and rebounding fiends with a suspect jump shot. Has a tough time guarding wide bodied players but never shies away from contact. A delight to have on any team.
