it's a bogus contest. i mean why trim down the best students down to 10.

e bakit walang taga UP Diliman na pumasok? akala ko ba mga ano...

kaboomerangle: amen to everything that you said! :)

di ko nga rin maintindihan kung bakit napakalaking issue kung saang UP campus ka galing. im from diliman but it's not an issue for me kung saang campus galing ang isang UP student. for me, basta taga-UP, taga-UP. period. :D lahat pumasa sa UPCAT and that's that (come to think of it, hindi naman nagkakalayo ang mga cut-off UPG--univ predicted grade--ng mga UP campuses). of course i can't help but feel extra-loyal to the UPD community, but that doesnt mean i think UPD is better than UPM, UPV or UPLB, or any other UP campus for that matter. equal dapat lahat, kasi equal naman talaga :)

Either that or you're simply ignorant of who Kendra Castillo is.

    FYI,

Kendra graduated from the BS Physics program (and on top of that, pursued a minor in Philosophy) with the following honors:

    1. Summa Cum Laude
    2. Class Valedictorian
    3. Program Awardee

Incidentally, she's also one of the BPI Science Awardees this year.

    cccc,

If I remember correctly what she said during the graduation ceremonies, she stayed in UP for two years but realized that her research interests were in the field of atmospheric physics. Hence, she decided to transfer to the Ateneo where she can pursue her research agenda with the help of the facilities of the Ateneo's Manila Observatory.

and maybe additional enticements, like a fatter scholarship? ;)
  • Lek-LekLek-Lek Kent Ridge PExer
    mac,

That of course is subject to verification. The scholarship given to Kendra, if any, would have been subsidized by private entities.

primitivo paypon is a good friend of mine... he graduated valedictorian sa isa sa mga chinese skuls sa bacolod.... he really deserves the award... also leah sicat is a friend of mine... at mind u di lahat ng magagaling pumupunta ng up diliman... kase c prim even never applied for upcat so it doesnt mean na mga up diliman lang ang magagaling though i admit maraming magagaling sa inyo hehehe.. anywa ung criteria for judging is based on over all qualities... ung how a student capitalize his time given to him in college... ung mga nanalo they were excpetional over all...

anyway im proud to say i know leah and prim.. sobrang natuwa ako when i saw them win the TOSP hehehe andun ako sa malacanang nung awarding...

expect a UA&P student will emerge in next year's TOSP ehehe :)

but there's no question that she's bright. she is. she was the salutatorian of Pisay.

    Congrats to her!
