Freelander 2004 price?

I called up the Jaguar dealership along Buendia to ask about the pricing for the 2004 Freelander. P2.95 million for the 2.5L V6 model. Wow! Mas mahal pa sa Expedition, Pajero & Prado even if it's classified only as an SUV.
I inquired about other engine variants and they said that come December, they'll have the 2.0L diesel (P2.45 million) and the 1.8L gas (P2.1 million), both with 4-cylinder engines.
Mahal pa din. Anyone know the prices for imported grey-market units? Thanks!

May demo unit ang Jaguar Cars sa ENZO Building sa Makati ng Freelander 2.5 V.6 automatic(BLACK).Walang spare tire cover pero leather seats(hehe!).Kung lalabas dito yung 2.0 Diesel at 1.8 petrol version eh baka may bumili.Pero i'd rather spent my money on a Nissan X-Trail or Ford Escape 3.0 V.6.May Land Rover Defender 110 TD5 sila,2.550.000 ang price(ekkkk!)0

How come their prices are so expensive? Retail price for the 2.5L V6 in the US is around $29,000 (mga P1.6M). Halos doble ang patong! Is it because of the tax? The price is probably the reason why I rarely see Freelanders in our streets. For P3M, you can buy an Expedition/Pajero/Prado and soup it up with 22" mags, with cash to spare!0

Isn't the Freelander offered in 4-cylinder incarnations as well? That should bring the price down a bit.
I've heard the best Freelander yet is the diesel version, hands down.0 -

haay naku! to those of you guys thinking of getting a freelander, forget it! my brother has one and it's a hell of a lemon! sayang na sayang lang ang money nyo.0

flipside is correct in saying the freelander is a lemon. it's european safety rating is equal to the suzuki grand vitara, which is low as it is. british consumer surveys rate it as the least relibale vehicle among all miniSUVs below the 20,000 UK pound mark. You'd be better off getting a Kia Sorento, Jeep Cherokee, Mitsubishi Outlander or a Subaru Forrester. Do note though the freelander is the best selling 4x4 in Britain. Now that's what you call patriotism.
for value for money I think a Nissan X-Trail, Honda CR-V (miniSUV) or Toyota's RAV4 are good buys.
Any news on the Defender coming in? Pogi nun.0 -
It's still the one to own if you're truly going to use a compact SUV off the tarmac, I reckon.
But yeah, I've heard so many reports on how quickly a Freelander can fall apart.0 -

i think its the price. if they had priced it at around 1.2-1.5M then more people will be interested in it. Most people dont know about the freelanders bad record. I heard that the previous gen range rovers had a lot of electrical problems, in fact i have seen several late 90' rangerover HSE being sold below the 2M mark.0

I agree, ale828. If it were in that price range, a lot of folks looking to purchase a CRV/RAV4/Escape/Tribute/etc. would definitely take a second look at the Freelander. In my personal opinion, it has the best looks compared to the other mini-SUVs that are locally available in the market. Sayang.
Totally off-topic, is the Kia Sorento a good buy? And does the local variant also carry the 3.5L V6 engine?0 -
Spiff,
The local Sorento carries the V6 I thinkYou could also opt for the 2.5L common-rail diesel.
