Jeezus...here we go again. People commenting and jumping to conclusions without knowing anything about the issue. For the benefit of the uninitiated, here's what really happened:
GMA7 is a subscriber to Reuters TV. (You guys know Reuters is a news wire agency, don't you? Local TV networks pay to have access to Reuters services). As such, GMA had every right to use materials emanating from Reuters, EXCEPT if the video is from a local competing network.
Now, on the day of Angelo dela Cruz's arrival, GMA switched to the live feed from Reuters for its coverage of the event. This was after news personnel tried - but failed - to contact local Reuters chief Charie Villa.
When ABSCBN Dindo Amparo appeared on the live video feed from Reuters, of course it became obvious that ABSCBN was the source of the video. GMA immediately stopped airing the video and switched instead to their own coverage of the event.
Later on, GMA used the live video emanating from CNN, its international news partner. Unfortunately, they realized too late that CNN, too, was getting its video from Reuters. As soon as they did, GMA stopped airing Flash Report altogether.
That's what happened. It was a mistake - pure, simple and definitely unintentional. Which is more than what I can say about ABSCBN's use of that Vivialyn Dungca interview. Nilagyan pa ng bar para matakpan yung nakalagay na Eye to Eye exclusive! Yun ang tunay na pagnanakaw!
As for that footage of the pro-FPJ rally, ABSCBN admitted to lifting that from Reuters, which in turn got the video from GMA (sound familiar?). But despite this admission, GMA never broadcast the incident nor condemn ABSCBN for it. In short, pinalampas na lang yun ng GMA.
And now here is ABSCBN shouting to the high heavens that they're thinking of filing a case against GMA? Puhleez. I'd like to see them go ahead and actually push through with it. Let's see who the courts will favor. As for GMA's part, they've already said they're suing Erwin Tulfo for libel. Yet another in the looong list of cases filed against him.
At kayo naman na mahilig manlait ng ABSCBN o GMA, I suggest you get your facts straight or at least make the effort to know about the issue before you start hurling insults and tirades. Your immaturity about these things is appalling, and pathetic really. It wouldn't hurt you to be more cautious about what you say for or against either network, or any other subject, for that matter. Bigyan niyo naman ng konting dignidad ang mga sarili niyo.
