[Merged] Hard Start, Starting and Ignition Problems

I have a 90 Corolla, medyo hard start sya. When I start it, I have to push on the gas pedal pa para hindi bumagsak yung idling nya at mamatay. Minsan I just turn on the aircon immediately para mag 'normal' yung idling ko (900rpm). When I drive around, nagnonormalize yung idling.

I've had everything checked and regular naman tune up and change oil ko. Can anyone help me or can someone point me to a mechanic/shop who can help? Dami ko na pinagdalhan nung kotse ko, magiging ok sandali tapos papalya nanaman e.

Had a similar problem before... have you checked the ignition coil?

Or, yung ground. Check mo baka sunog na.

Most probably an electrical problem like they said.

In addition to the previous suggestions, you might want to check the distributor, the high-tension wires, spark plugs and battery.

It's probably the ignition coil though.

So any idea? Eto ang mga given values ng car ko.

1.) Battery is nearly 3 years old. I'm using a calcium battery with a "charge" indicator. The indicator tells me that the battery is still fine. Brand of the battery is "Aurora"
2.) It happened to me twice already and noticed that this happens if the weather is extremely hot.
3.) Given number 2 and I still have enough fuel in my tank, let me add that whenever I open the hood, I notice that the fuel in the fuel filter is so small.
4.) Usually to temporary fix this problem, I let the engine cool down let say 15-20 mins. And it starts.
5.) When I say it doesn't start, it really doesn't start. No "initial sound" when starting. I tested the headlights, dashboard lights and stereo. Everything seem well. It didn't give me any sign of weakness in the battery.

So battery na ba talaga ito or alternator or starter problem?

check mo ung ignition coil. malamang doon ung problema nya.
pag uminit hirap na mag istart not unless palamigin muna.

btw, pwede ba akong itirik nito kung hindi ko pa sya ipagawa agad? papalitan ko na din kasi itong sasakyan ko. itirik in the sense na kapag umaandar na iyong sasakyan eh biglang mamamatay na lang agad? at maski na malamig iyong sasakyan eh hindi pa rin ito magsastart?

Pardon my ignorance but do all cars nowadays still have ignition coils? I havent heard about them in quite some time...

Just a little tip: With regard to batteries, don't rely on those charge indicators as they usually give the status of one cell only AFAIK (i've yet to experience a battery that the charge indicator actually told me that my battery was gonn adie anytime soon).

meron pa ignition coils mga iba models,built in na nga lang sa distributor.ano model ba sasakyan mo?kapag inistart mo ba,umiiot makina?or click lang?pwedeng ignition coil or weak battery din kasi.

I really suggest getting a new battery na lang. Malakas makapatay ng baterya ang init natin eh. 3 years is long enough.

Try looking for someone who has a fresher battery and maybe you can borrow it for a while and see the difference. Kung ganun pa rin at ayaw mag-start, mas malaki na ang problema...probably ignition coil na nga.

yup, posibleng itirik ka kung sakaling tuluyang ng bumigay un ignition coil mo. madali lang naman i-test yan sa mga electrical shops. mas malaking problema at gastos pa kung itirik ka sa gitna ng daan.

there are two types of ignition coil. ung external na nakakabit sa body ng oto at ung internal na nasa loob ng distributor. both madaling i-test at palitan. try mo ung surplus kung medjo maliit budget mo.

Ah okay... I was thinking about those Bosch ignition coils I used to see on our boxtype Lancer before. If it's inside the distributor, then the sign would be to feel if your distributor is unusually hot.

I'd look at the battery as well, maybe it's not adept for our conditions given that Aurora seems seems to be an imported brand.

when you say itirik, pwedeng habang umaandar ang sasakyan mo eh biglang hindi na lang umandar?
