Hmmm...how about maintaining it as diligently as you can?

Even if it does run on gasoline, the LiteAce engine is inherently a bit lacking in power, like most "one-box" vans. The silly gearing doesn't help: first and second gears are good for climbing mountain roads, but the engine runs out of puff when you shift to third. The gap between 2nd and 3rd is simply too big.

That said, if you can source a close-ratio transmission for the LiteAce, that would really help. That's unlikely to happen though.

Just maintain your LiteAce as diligently as you can and it'll serve you very well.

The basic bolt-ons like changing the intake and exhaust may work. That would be adding headers and a free-flow filter. On the free-flow filter, you can actually put a cone type since the Lite ACe engine, although its a carb, the filter housing is not on top but separated by a tube and adaptor.

ELectronic ignition to help in the start-ups?

As aforementioned, the 4K engine of the Lite Ace is underpowered for the weight of the car... I kept on wondering before if the 7K from the 1.8L Tamaraw FX will fit.

Before I suggest anything... what kind of modifications do you want and for what purpose? Do you want speed? Handling? Pulling power? :|

Mokkori: just a bit of pulling power kasi like sobrang hina niya.

slamm: so, its possible to change the intake of my car, any idea how much i would shell out ?

thanks for the help and suggestions keepin coming

In that case try going for I/H/E modification (intake, headers and exhaust). Best possible gains would be 10-15 BHP.

car ko nung highschool ako ay 94 lite-ace gxl. naka sport muffler sya (sportec pa uso nyun). lowered stock rims with 60 series tires. sound system, modified headlights. sa engine naman ay walang air filter and naka butterfly (simole) sya for extra power. pero magsisisi ka din kasi ang talbog. hehehe. peace!!

    Thank for the suggestions ....

Many shops can do I/H/E. Your LiteAce might need a little more work though.

Why not try Fusion R? Along E. Rodriguez. Ferman Lao (the owner) is a pretty trustworthy guy and he knows what he's doing. He'll make sure your car is running well before he gives it back to you, and his work is worth every penny. :)

The Lite Ace filter adaptor and tube for the carb is what Corolla guys use to be able to use cone-type filter intakes for their carb cars. :) Just check out where the airbox of the Lite Ace is and see how you can adapt a cone filter to it in place of the stock filter box.

On the headers, you can try checking out SMT along Mascardo St. in Makati (near Phil Daily Inquirer BLdg along P. Tamo).

If not, you can try exploring an engine swap from a Tamaraw FX 1.8L engine... that will give more HP and torque out of the box. :)

    Trivia related to Slamm's post:

The LiteAce was offered with a 1.8L engine in some markets (check the owner's manual, it's written right there on the back pages). Perhaps this was the same 94 BHP engine used in the old Tamaraw FXes.

Thanks for all your suggestion and advices
  • Pls I need suggestions balak ko sana magpa install ng headers
  • There's a lot of things you can do to give that 4K engine a bit of pep, and most are cheap too.
