Really?
Not really a farfetched idea...Malaysia does have the V6 Accord sedan already.
Now if Honda brought in the V6 Accord Coupe...then I'd be grinning like a fool.0 -
3cylinder...
You're asking for pictures of the 3.0L V6 Accord?
If you're looking for the sedan...it's basically the same US-based Accord we have here. Iba lang ang mechanicals. In Malaysia the Accord comes in 2.0, 2.4 and 3.0L variants, the lesser engines being 4-cylinder units with i-VTEC.
The SOHC V6 produces 240 bhp...however it's still a front-driver so it succumbs to untidy torque-steer. I hear the 2.4 Accord is the best of the lot to drive.
If you're looking for pictures of the V6 Accord coupe...here are a couple.

Pinag-uusapan na sa dyaryo.
Not to pre-empt anything but it's kinda out of the bag already.0 -
The answer is in Inquirer's motoring section today. You can't miss it, it's a screaming big print ad.
It's the "GD8" City 1.5 VTEC, to complement the "GD6" City 1.3 i-DSI.
The new car's L15A VTEC engine makes 110 BHP at the crank, as opposed to the older model's 82 BHP from its L13A twin-spark unit. Most likely the VTEC model will carry the 7-speed Multimatic S CVT (but how I'd love a manual).
I still have second thoughts on getting a GD-series City though...that huge @$$ hasn't grown on me at all.0 -
uh, it was obviously a 1.5L city... yeah that 7 speed multimatic definitely sucks, imo.
anyway, i went to mazda kahapon. since i dropped my vehicle sa toyota q. ave for service. and i had to commute home.. i decided to drop by the mazda dealer, and asked for the possible release of mazda 3.
seems like they will be releasing the hatchback here. pero 1.6L lang daw ang engine. what the hell.. that'll be what? 105 hp?
far cry from the 2.0l engine you can get in the states. the very very reason why you'd want a mazda 3 over a civic for
you call that proper marketing in Mazda's part? i don't think so..0 -
it's a midsized sedan. it's the perfect size. I too thought that baka mahirapan akong mag drive ng midzie.. pero accords are generally easy to drive naman eh. excellent leg room for the driver and passengers, excellent leg room rin for the people at the backseat.
besides bigger cars == safer.0 -
GreatBop...
In terms of cars we basically always get either:
1) The same deal the ASEAN nations get, or
2) Something slightly worse
Our being a left-hand-drive country makes it more of a headache for carmakers to export models just for us. Most Asian nations are right-hand-drive.
In the Mazda 3's case, we're due to get the same deal other ASEAN nations get. The 3 has been released in Singapore and Malaysia a couple or so months back, and their unit does have the 1.6L engine with 105 bhp.
Best thing we can hope for, probably, would be a close-ratio manual transmission to make up for the rather lacking power output. Pray we're not restricted to the dull-witted 4-speed automatic.0 -

hehe... galing ko talagang mag estimate ng HP based on car maker!!!0 -

no, the 1.6 is not enough! good thing they are bringing the 2.0 ATLEAST!0 -

Honestly, even with the revised taxation scheme (no longer dependent on engine size/displacement), I don't think it'd make sense to bring in the V6 Accord.
Fuel costs something of a small fortune as it is...and traffic isn't getting any better. Sure, 240 BHP is 240 BHP, but unless you do most of your driving at midnight I don't think you'll make use of that much power.
Sana K24 Euro-spec engine na lang ang ilagay nila. 190 BHP from 2.4 liters makes for a nice Accord which can still be frugal.
The K24 used in Malaysian Accords puts out 160 BHP---just 5 up on the 2.0L K20 engine our Accords have already.0 -

As to the 3.0 li. variant, the mere fact that other companies (American, Asian and European) are introducing vehicle models with larger displacements seems to indicate that there is an existing and viable market, despite the traffic and rising fuel costs.
However, from a non-motoring enthusiast standpoint, I think that Honda want to standardize the product offering within the region in order to realize more cost savings from economies of scale.
Therefore, we'll just have to live with the fact that Honda Philippines will soon be selling 3.0 li. Accords with leather-wrapped steering wheels accented with wood. Ugh.
Just my two cents.0 -
"I hear you. Adding five more horses is relatively insignificant if one were to compare the current 2.0 li. variant with the 2.4 li. sold in Thailand and the other Asean countries."
Cept there's a couple of differences.
1.) the 2.4L gets its peak hp at a much lower rpm
2.) bigger displacement == bigger torque
3.) chances are, it could even be more fuel efficient (kahit na mas malaki ang makina)..
(ie, n. america's new 2.4 l engine is even more fuel efficient than the older 2.3L version)0 -
how about another shhh..
finally the Jazz is coming here!!!
my dad just told me na he read butch gamboa's article today. he goes, meron daw lalabas na hatchback honda rito. tanong ko. subcompact ba or compact (half hoping na it is the Civic Hatcback.. haha).. pero.. yeah i half knew na it was Jazz nga.. he said sub compact. that was the confirmation i need to know na Jazz nga yun.. tapos i read the article.. dun sa dulo he says to Honda Phils manager "Jazz Asking"
