if you would start your own philosophy/religion with no fear of mudslinging from other religiously intolerant religions how would it be like? what beliefs/practices would you borrow from other belief systems
mine would be:
1. buddhism
discipline of the mind
idea that you should believe in things out of rationality
and not faith
zen meditation- meditation into nothingness
concept of non-violence
2. star wars
the concept of the force
the idea that psychic powers can be good or bad
depending on their usage
3. new age
religious tolerance
4. islam
practices what they believe in, no hypocracy
(but personally i find some things a bit too severe)
5. christianity
concept of love
6. hinduism
concept of cyclicity

creating your own philosophy is a good thing, that is what philosophy courses aims for, however, if you create your own religion, that would be a philosophical suicide. kulto ang labas nun. peace!0

that's true, when you start something, whether its right or wrong people will resist, sometimes because they don't want to rock the boat, they don't want change. for this reason, there are a number of belief systems which don't try to convert others. because no matter how logical or reasonable their arguments are, there are still people who have what marketing people call 'brand loyalty'.
but if you don't care about what people think, and you feel that your current belief systems can be improved on, why not.
jose rizal was shot for what he believed in, buddha was frowned upon and jesus christ got crucified.
in the martial arts world, bruce lee who created 'jeet kune do' had bolted the idea of katas and revolutionized the martial arts world. if i'm not mistaken he graduated in philosophy in the u.s. he did not respect other martial arts just because they have had a lot of followers or just because they had been there for thousands of years, and yet he improved on them.0
