I havent seen the Outlander up close yet but from where i stand... I'd get the X-Trail 2.5L :)

The Outlander they say has some relations with the Evo... The XTrail, on the other hand has relations with the Skyline GTi-R in terms if drivetrain parts as well.
  • I would go for the X-TRAIL because it has the so-called "Electronic All Mode 4x4", meaning it can automatically shift from 2WD to 4WD or vice versa depending on the type of terrain. This SUV is ideal both for city driving and even for extreme outdoors.

It is the No. 1 SUV in Japan. And it recently held the No. 1 position here in the Philippines based on CAMPI data (Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc.).

As the slogan of Nissan goes...

  • XTRAIL pa rin.
  • i haven't checked out the specs yet...but the OUTLANDER has nice porma

I haven't checked the stats out either so I really can't make a more 'objective' decision. I think the X-Trail's better looking. What's with the Outlander's front? It looks like it's got a big nose - it's ugly. If this is Mitsubishi's new corporate front, no wonder its sales are plummeting in the States...

How are they selling in the Philippines?
  • Mitsubishi sells their Pajeros and other utility vehicles well...not sedans.

Anyway, the only thing I like about the Outlander: Tiptronic transmission, otherwise, X-Trail for me: 4WD!

Had Mitsubishi brought in the Airtrek instead of the Outlander (basically the same car but different in external looks), I bet people would have a more favorable impression of the Lancer-based SUV.

By the way there's the Airtrek Turbo-R...imagine a slightly detuned Evo VII engine and 4WD drivetrain inside that SUV body. Woohoo! :D

My vote goes to the X-Trail 2.5. Dashboard niggles aside, it looks better, has better low-down torque and a rugged interior cargo floor...that's always good for an SUV :D

The XTrail starts at 1.0+++M for the 2.0 4x2 model to 1.3M for the 2.5L 4x4.
  • x-trail..ang lupit ng makina nun..try 2 find one and open the hood of the x-trail..ganda p ng interior design...its all worth it..wish i kud drive that monster.
  • I like the x-trail. more classic ang shape. but outlander has a better looking interior 2nd to Ford Escape. Engine Wise, an x-trail will do for city driving wise.

saan nga ba pwede mag pa tune up?? i to tune up the opel eh may computer parts ito
  • x-trail is way better, the outlander costs to much for a 2.0liter engine with less than 150bhp while for almost the same price you can get a 2.5 liter engine of the x-trail with 180bhp.

Horsepower isn't always the definitive factor in choosing a car. SUVs, in particular, should sell more on low-down torque. I hear the Outlander's 2.4L engine delivers good torque without having to work the engine very hard.

Then again, Nissan does make some of the best engines...and the QR25DE unit in the X-Trail 2.5 has made a name for itself with very high torque output, too---it makes 180 lb-ft of torque as compared to its 175 HP (Motor Trend's US figures). The X-Trail's 2.5L engine also used to be found in the sporty Sentra SE-R Spec V in the US. :D
  • Maybe that's why I don't see alot of Outlanders on the road. It's more expensive than the xtrail.
