They should've kept Adrian Griffin. A hardworker & very unselfish player.

    nice lineup :yum:

pero wala silang legitimate na center aside from bradley, which cannot guard other centers.

pero okay lang cguro yun. and problema naman ng opponent is how to stop the whole dallas team

    hehehe ;) :D :yum: :D

well, that's the point of Dallas this past few years, abuse the opponents with firepower. the positions of the players would also be obviously disregarded most of the time.

Fortson would be effective at guarding centers that are the body-to-body types because he's near-immovable once he gets the position.... at least he's more effective than our centers from the past or Bradley at that. The real problem is a) him being help defense to stop cutting players getting past Dirk and the 'Toines not so stellar perimeter D and b) he's had trouble guarding faster more athletic (ie. Garnett) and creative (ie. Duncan) big men in the past. He also has a bad habit of losing his cool and worse - getting into early foul trouble which limits his playing time.

But I agree, Dallas needs a REAL center and I've always pushed for Zydrunas Ilgauskas despite having a bad contract and injury prone. An Antoine Walker for Z trade works in Real GM.com:
Dallas trades: PF Antoine Walker (20.1 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 4.8 apg in 41.5 minutes)
Dallas receives: C Zydrunas Illgauskas (17.2 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.6 apg in 30.1 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -2.9 ppg, +0.3 rpg, and -3.2 apg.

Cleveland trades: C Zydrunas Illgauskas (17.2 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.6 apg in 30.1 minutes)
Cleveland receives: PF Antoine Walker (20.1 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 4.8 apg in 78 games)
Change in team outlook: +2.9 ppg, -0.3 rpg, and +3.2 apg.

Due to Dallas and Cleveland being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Dallas and Cleveland had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

SEATTLE -- Ray Allen will miss at least the first two games of the season because of a right ankle injury, leaving the Seattle SuperSonics without their best player on a two-game visit to Japan next week.

"It's safe to say I won't be on that trip," Allen said Friday after seeing an ankle specialist.

Allen plans to seek another opinion early next week in Los Angeles, then decide what type of surgery to have. It wasn't known how long the injury will keep the three-time All-Star sidelined.

"It's a little nerve-racking, not really knowing Ray's situation at this point," teammate Brent Barry said. "It's part of the game. Our players and coaching staff will just have to bring it together and find a way to get the job done."

Doctors found a bone chip or piece of cartilage -- they're not sure which -- inside Allen's upper right ankle. He sometimes feels a sharp, jabbing pain when his leg is extended.

"The fragment is small, very small," he explained. "But if it gets caught in my ankle, then it causes a locking sensation."

Allen averaged 24.5 points a game after joining the Sonics in a trade from Milwaukee last season. He played last summer for the United States team that qualified for the Athens Olympics and won a gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Games.

Sonics coach Nate McMillan said he hadn't had enough time to consider how to shuffle the lineup without Allen.

"That's an All-Star. You feel around and you have to move on," McMillan said.

Seattle also has lost rookie forward Nick Collison, a first-round draft pick, for the season because of shoulder surgery. McMillan still plans to use the up-tempo offense and pressure defense he installed during the preseason.

"I'll manage it as we go," he said. "I think we can still pop a shooter in that lineup on the floor, continue to put four perimeter shooters on the floor and still play that style."

Allen complained of soreness in the ankle during Seattle's preseason win over Golden State on Wednesday night and left early in the second half. He said he first noticed the injury during practice Tuesday.

"I darted toward the basket. I felt something just lock in my ankle," he said.

The Sonics play twice next week in Japan against the Los Angeles Clippers. Allen doesn't know if he will be ready by the home opener Nov. 7 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

i think dallas will win the championship. it won't be because they are really the best team in the west.. but because of the things that will be hobbling the other teams in the west..

    la lakers - kobe's case..
sac kings - injuries (webber, peja, bibby, etc...)
spurs - "2nd year jitters" of some core players - parker and manu (marked men na sila eh)
twolves - la lang talgang bench

though dallas doesn't have a COMLETE lineup. (yes, lack of defense..) i think their ****ing firepower will compensate. they have a coach known for playing players out of position anyway.

    their first 5:

PG - NASH - BEST (Walker)

mas okay to.. kahit may injury, marami pa ring players na papalit..
cguro naman magso-zone ang mavs para may depensa sila, and offense, anybody on that starting five is capable of scoring 20+ pts a game..

walker should share the ball and trust his teamates, at least marami na shang papasahan di tulad ng dati na si paul pierce lang!

    GO MAVS!

I think Dallas will still be playing in June...

Pandaemoneon: If that trade flies, that will be one of the best trades in recent memory. Ilgauskas is probably the second-best center in the league (yes, next to Yao of course... hehe Kidding).

I think Don Nelson is a maverick in all senses of the word. he's challenging the very basic tenets of basketball by making an insanely powerful offensive team with little or no defensive capacity. He deserves commendation for thinking out of the box and not conforming to tried and tested formulas.

the mavs will be lucky to reach the western semis... they wont get past shaq & the lakers, duncan & the spurs.. what they need is a defensive presence inside ... they should trade either jamison or finley for a legit allstar postman
  • sayang din talaga si raef...pero ok na rin si fortson! pam-bardagul din yun sa ilalim!
  • pero tama nga yun idea na kill them with firepoweeerrr!!!!!
