Anti-smoke Belching Device...

Have you installed any anti-smoke belching device in your car? Is it really effective in reducing the smoke produced by incomplete combustion of the fuel (Diesel or Gas) in your engine?

IMO, anti-smoke belching devices (are there any?) would mean that your not solving the problem at the source. The best would be to maintain your rides well.

With gas engines, adjust the air-fuel mixture to spec (stoichiometric?), get a change oil and tune-up regularly and the car should be fine unless its already running on loose compression or something. With diesels, changing the fuel filters, air filter, keeping the fuel lines clean and making sure the injection pump is runnign up to spec will help keep the emissions minimal when coupled with a regular change oil job.

There are also Catalytic converters which help reduce toxic emission gasses.

There is a Filipino inventor (Mr. Adolfo Alegre) who came up with an anti-smoke belching device using the principle of VENTURI EFFECT. The device is attached to the muffler where it sucks out all impurities (like a vacuum cleaner), promote more complete fuel combustion, increase engine HP and guaranteed to reduce emission within minutes after installation! The effect is like having a rocket-powered engine. The device is called ALEGRE EXHAUST GAS OXIDIZER (EGO).

I ran over one in an ad in the papers today on one of the devices. There was also this device before called "Aerogas" but i havent seen any actual useage yet. This one was used i think in the combustion process (i.e. connected to the carburator in non EFI cars)

Our company tested the "Aerogas" Catalytic Combustor but unfortunately it did not live to its claims of lesser emmissions. However, when we tested the EGO (Exhaust Gas Oxidizer) of Mr. Alegre, his device really works. There is a noticeable increase in engine power (about 5 - 8%) and fuel savings of about 15% and the smoke really was minimized/gone in about 1 - 3 minutes! Ther tests were done in a 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser (Prado) which was really a smoke-belching vehicle before EGO was installed.

How much is this "Aerogas" device? And where can I score one? You just slap it on to you muffler and that's it? No other modifications to your vehicle? Sounds interesting.

The "Aerogas" device asper result of our testing is not effective and it is not installed in the muffler but rather near the engine side. The one attached to the muffler is the Alegre EGO (Exhaust Gas Oxidizer" and is really effective due to "venturi effect". The EGO is made of stainless steel and costs P 4,500/device for small cars; P5,500/device for medium cars/vehicles and P 6,500/device for trucks/buses. We are planning to market the EGO and you could score one from me.
