i haven't seen the vios yet, but from first hand experience..ang ganda ng performance and handling ng cbagong city..:*okay*
  • If price weren't an issue...would you buy the new HONDA CITY CVT or the new TOYOTA VIOS A/T? What's the basis for your decision?
  • Any Honda cars are worth buying but I prefer the Civic SiR.
  • thanks! yeah...mabilis nga ang CIVIC SIR...

pero yung budget ko, pang-entry level car lang...meaning less thant Php700K...so pang CITY or VIOS lang talaga...

i've been checking the specs...mas maporma ang VIOS...mas malaki ang engine...mas maganda ang sound system...and medyo maganda ang steering system ng TOYOTA, di ba?

the CITY naman, better suspension...mas malaki ang space, mas mataas na ground clearance, better suspension and better turning radius..

Very comparable sila so hindi ako maka-decide...

Wala kasi ako masyadong alam sa ibang specs ng cars...like what to watch out for and stuff like that...

hindi ka siguro fan ng 2nd hand cars. but with 700k, puede ka na mamili ng "matinong" 2-3 year old car or even an suv that may be virtually new- the reason being: 1) owner is migrating, 2) upgrading, or, 3) sa dami lang ng kotse, napagsawaan na at hindi nagagamit kaya gustong ibenta.
  • Like it or not, Honda has a higher re-sale value. I'd go for Honda.

    bagel that's hot!
they both look good, but word of advice lang, the vios is gonna be the next common taxi car. honda has an agreement kasi that their cars can't be used as taxis.

mawalang galang na ho. pero one of the factors that determines a cars resale value is the affordability and availability of its spare parts.

being a 2nd hand car, the normal wear and tear (no matter how you maintain it) starts to set in. thus, consideration of the above is of great importance.

there's a running joke that toyota spare parts can even be bought readily at your nearest sari-sari stores.

    just my two cents. :D

Because it is easier to maintain (and it doesn't hurt that it's easy on the eyes), I'd go for the TOYOTA.

BTW, my dad owns a HONDA and I own a TOYOTA, we find that maintaining the toyota is a lot cheaper (and especially since I pay for my own repairs ...).

I already have an SUV...i just want a smaller car...saka brand new para wala pa masyadong maintenance cost...

GUYS thanks for your suggestions... i'll try to check the showrooms this weekend...

...kung may pahabol pa kayong details, i'd appreciate it.:D

im a girl so i really dont know about engines and all of that so id base my choice on appearance.. hehe.. i think that the exterior of the new City looks edgier than Vios, especially the head lights and the side mirrors.. pogi points un.. hehe.. :D btw, City's rear seats are movable na so you can have more space.. so if ur a guy specially, i think that you could put more stuff in your car na..
we have a honda, toyota and mitsubishi.. and honda definitely offers the best service..
oh, i have a city yr 2000 and i have not had it repaired pa.. (or is it just ordinary for a 3yrold car? hehe sory i dunno its my first car e)
  • Hi, Honda is starting to be a "jolog car". after SIR kinda bumaba na ang resale value ng Honda sa mga new car lines nila.Even with regards to the nityy gritty. After reading your specs for both cars I'd go for Vios kasi my Honda na kami. :p Panalo talaga Toyota lalo na sa ALTIS & CIVIC comparison. Bawi sila ngayon coz designer ng BENZ C series ang designer ng toyota ngayon..:p :D

handling is alot better in the toyota vios compared to the city.

but who wouldn't notice the +/- shift button on the city but does it do you any good in the philippines?....sad to say no, not unless you go on long drives and to be able to use the 7 gears the city has compared to the vios' "convetional AT.

but when pushing these 2 cars, id rate the VIOS higher compared to the city

thats all i can say about performance. we all do have our own preference when it comes to the interior =)

hope i was able to help :D

is it just me or wala pa ding sumasagot ng tanong ni bluechips... :D

anyways, i've seen both up close coz we're planning to get either of the two, pero the new city's interior is unlike any other i've seen for a car at that level... mas maganda pa sha sa lancers, accords, civics, and corollas eh.. seriously...

if for city driving lang naman id go with the city na... 1.3 na 7 speed, with the shifters on the steering wheel pa.. COOL FACTOR IS A 10!

vios linagay lang sa middle yung instrument panel..:)
  • As far as aesthetics is concerned, I like the City better. It looks pretty good for a 1.3 car. Although Hondas are very expensive to maintain. So, on that aspect, I'd go for the Vios. ;)

a 1.3 with 8 spark plugs. i don't even like their idea of making it a cvt.

ganito, based on the posts here,

    1) if you plan on having the car for less than 5 years, then go for the aesthetics.

why 5 years? because most of the cars parts were built to last approximately for that duration. why? economics-for you to buy a new car again or for after sales (parts and services)

    2) if you have the money for maintenance, go for the aesthetics.

    3) if you plan on using it for more than 5 years, take into consideration the maintenance cost.
