To All Experienced Drivers: M/T or A/T?

Hello, I'm planning to get a 2nd hand car. Anong mas ok M/T or A/T? Somebody told me kasi na delikado pag A/T dahil mahirap daw i maintain kapag nasira. Though mas convenient talaga siyang hawakan.

Sa mga nakadrive ng M/T and A/T na cars.. Feedback naman please.

  • Ako we have 2 cars na ung isa M/T ung isa naman A/t. ;)

well probably iba yung feel eh. You could do lots of things in m/t than in a/t. i tried driving both but m/t gives you the "hatak" (pickup, response)feel. a/t cars malakas sa brake. pag tumirik ka sa a/t nako tsk tsk tsk... laking problema yan.

well definitely mas mahal ang matic sa manual. that's for sure.
:depressed: Pero they say it's madali lang daw since driving M/T is harder.

been driving for 12 years now and it wasnt until i got my fourth car early last year that i drove a car with an automatic transmission.

i wouldnt go back to driving stick shift.

i don't know anything about M/T cars coz i have an A/T and i learned to drive using that car. but if you want something that's easier to drive, I say get an A/T car. :D

I would consider an automatic if on any of the following: SUVs, biiiiiiiiig trucks, luxury sedans.

Even if I have driven an Automatic, I still prefer an Manual car. Why? I believe you have better control over the vehicle for M/T cars.
  • eh kung mag dadrag ka sa harbor kelangang manual. but i personally prefer A/T.

    I prefer driving manual...

You have better controls...pwedeng i-***** kung tumirik....bagay sa heavy traffic...galing sa akyatan sa bundok and sa mga lubak...

Automatic is also gooood, but mas sanay ako sa manwal.

I have enough distractions already, I don't need to stress about which gear to put it in. The only bad thing is that, if you drive for like a long stretch, your right foot falls asleep.

Can't really tell since I'm a victim of both MT and AT. All I can say is that MT works well for me when I intend to conserve fuel, but AT offers convenience since I don't have to worry about the clutch.
  • i learned with a m/t but i drive an a/t now. mas madali i-drive kahit magastos sa gas and all. if you have some money to spend, i'd say for for an automatic. i woudn't go back to a manual anymore.
  • can someone explain to me bakit mas mahal malakas sa fuel ang a/t kesa sa m/t?

The difference is in the clutch.

Manual transmission have a solid link between the engine and the driving wheels. This way, no energy is wasted since no "slippage" happens throughout the drive train.

Automatic transmission on the other hand is a hydrolic/fluid clutch. Just an analogy, try putting two electric fans infront of each other. Turn on one fan so that the "wind" generated by the fan will drive the blades of the other fan, making it turn. This is what happens in an A/T. There is slippage in the drive train, your engine maybe turning at 100 RPM but it only transmits 80RPM.

it both has its own advantage and disadvantage... its much easier to drive with automatic especially when theres traffic pero kapag na-stranded ka sa baha, thats when the problem starts. as mentioned earlier, with manual, it doesn't take as much fuel as automatic does.

when i was back in vancouver, i drove automatic which was more convenient pero dito sa manila, i still drive automatic hehe, iwas baha na lang.
  • if you're driving in manila...get an A/T...saves you a lot of stress... kung gusto mong medyo hataw na A/T, get an ALTIS

sabi nila kapag nakapagdrive ka raw ng automatic, you wouldnt want to go back to manual..
