be careful how you ask it. franchisors will give you the numbers of their highest volume franchisee and it makes sense, since theyre trying to "lend" you their name. remember that each store or center is managed differently.

i believe the numbers given are only for rights to use the name of the brand and not the total cost of operation.

franchisings biggest advantage is the support youll get from your franchisor. each franchisor is different, so be careful who you sign up with. keep the word SUPPORT in mind after all, youre going to write them that royalty check every month. use them, they should be there for you.

let me know if you have any more questions about franchising.

call them up. franchisors have a department that specifically handles prospective franchisees. set-up an appointment. go through the documents, have a lawyer take a look at them if you can afford it. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING UP FRONT. interview as many franchisors as you can and then take your time to decide. starting a business is no joke.

cash-flow- make sure you understand that and how it works.

    goodluck.

Some of the things you may do:

If you have a proposed site, check out the foot traffic of the area. What is the profile of the people who go there? Do you have competitors there? How are they doing?

Check out other franchisees. How are they doing?

Lots of other things you should do related to finance, but I suck at that so I'll just wait for the post of the others. :)

make sure the franchisor youre signing up with gives a lot of business planning support and utilize them. a good sign would be if they insist on taking a look at your financial statements.

also, make sure YOU or a partner or an accountant know about these things: chart of accounts, profit and loss statement (P&L) ,
cost of sales analysis, and balance sheets, ebitda, ebt.

What about franchise in water refilling stations?

But I think it's cheaper if you do not franchise instead you buy your own equipment etc.

does any body know any good books on franchising?!?
  • c0ngsterc0ngster Banned by Admin PExer
the franchise bible: how to buy a franchise or franchise your own business

talks about the basics. also talks about franchising in a small business sense.

franchising 101: the complete guide to evaluating, buying and growing your franchised business

has a section about BUSINESS PLAN. the one thing ive been stressing.

i was given both books my first week on the job.

*some contents on both books such as certain laws might not apply to the philippine setting.
