This game was ours! But somehow, parang kulang sa killer instinct.
Ang dami-daming lapses, especially in the first quarter. Sana we took advantage of that 10-point lead pero hirap na hirap ang Philippines na i-preserve 'yung gains nila kaya nakakahabol ang kalaban at na-erase iyon!
Bad trip talaga. Sumama tuloy ang pakiramdam ko, ah. Magkakasakit na yata ako. :(
BUSAN - Ang sakit ng pagkatalo natin. Racela gave us a 68 - 66 lead with a three-pointer, 51.2 seconds remaining. Korea then missed a shot and Olsen got the rebound with over twenty seconds left. He muffed both charities and Korea got the rebound. They actually missed a shot but got the offensive board. A Korean player who was waiting at the top of the key got the pass, faked two Pinoys and launched a three ... swish! Game Over. Hontiveros and Racela were crying unabashedly on the floor. Some of us here were actually crying after that game! :(
That is not the way to treat our RP Team most specially Olsen Racela.
Let's not forget that Olsen sank the crucial 3pt shot that gave us a 1 point lead.
I too feel bad that we lost to South Korea.
I'd have to agree that the game was already ours. We have a one point lead with around 30 secs left i think plus Olsen gets to shoot 2 free throws. Too bad the he missed both.
Our missed freethrows really haunted us. We missed a lot specially in the crucial seconds of the game.
In contrast to what floreno said, there is nothing to be ashamed of. Our guys played tremendous defense. We were trailing for the most part of the game plus the Koreans have the home court advantage. We almost won but luck wasnt on our side. That is something to be proud of already.
Malas lang talaga.. sayang free throws ni olsen. oh well, part of the game.
Pero I'm still proud of our boys.. They tried their best.
Looking ahead, I hope we start sending our BEST players to international competitions. Not just Asian Games but also ABC Games.. Kasi sayang naman.. We could definitely argue that we're one of the top teams in Asia. Probably just a couple of years behind China. A few more years of international competitions and couple of taller, athelic guys.. we could definitely reclaim our stronghold in Asian Basketball. Sana the core of this team could represent Philippines sa ABC in two years time..
Calling BAP, PBA, PBL, UAAP, NCAA.. Time to get your acts together..
i agree with everything you said MajorPain, nothing to be ashamed of... that was actually one of the best defensive games i saw them play..if it weren't for that, we would have lost by a big margin.
i'm just curious to what eric altamirano is feeling right now...he has a thing with losing by buzzer beater shots diba? remember yung mobiline vs ginebra na quarter finals? and yung purefoods vs ginebra quarter finals when he transferred there? kawawa naman..:(
i just don't like the way they lost... that's the worst way to lose... i feel for them... i feel bad, and i'm just watching...

kaya don't put the blame on racela. malas lang talaga! oh well, there's always next time.
i feel sad for Olsen Racela also dahil it should have been the brightest moment in his career. kumbaga highlight na talaga. binigay nya talaga lahat. topscoring for the team, 3/5 3P shots plus 4 steals, kahit si Moon na i-steal-an nya eh. pero super pagod na cguro sa dulo. samahan mo pa ng kaba. super sayang. pero hats off talaga ako. wala ka nang mahihiling pa.
mukhang ayaw talaga ibigay sa atin ngayon... coach Jacobs stroke... Danny Seigle injury... and to cap it all off, the heartbreaker 1 point loss to SoKor. di pa siguro time ngayon. di pa siya para sa atin. kahit ung claim lang for no.2 team in asia. masakit isipin na di pa rin nakaya ngayon pero next time, naniniwala pa rin ako na makakaabot din tayo.
sayang talaga!!! they did every thing they could. the team played an excellent defense and that moon guy didnt get the ball in the koreans' last play.nahirapan ung koreans kasi hindi makascore masyado si moon pati rin ung center nila na si seoh. saka maganda ung ginawa ng coaching staff sa pag scout sa kanila. unfortunately, the brakes didnt go our way. well may next time pa naman eh. we just have to learn from this defeat and bounce back in the next game, and probably in the next asean games. remember, lalaban pa tayo sa para sa bronze...:)
i still feel proud of our basketball team. personally, i thought our team doesnt stand a chance against korea..but after watching the game, i realized that korea can be beaten..by playing tough defense..and that's what they did the entire game..unfortunately, racela missed those two crucial free throws..he is a great free throw shooter but i guess, he just had tough luck. btw, it's so hard to play against a home team..so rp loss is something we should never be ashamed of..the boys played all heart, the koreans just got lucky with the 3 pointer off a loose ball.
the outcome could have been different with ron jacobs and danny seigle around.. we encountered problems as we prepare for this asian games..and i guess, we should still congratulate our team for playing so well despite the absence of coach ron and danny seigle.
salute to the philippine men's basketball team!*okay*
we were this facking close...... ang DAMI WHAT IF......
what if
asi and olsen made their free throws
the refs called the travelling call sa last play of the koreans
they called for a timeout
they fouled the korean b4 shooting
danny seigle... and robert parker were playing.....
in short SAYANG!!!!!
don't get me wrong.... i\m not whinning....naawa lang ako sa players natin who cried after the game....they knew we were this close
IF THERE IS SOMETHING WE CAN BE PROUD OF... then that is WE CAN SAY THAT WE CAN REGAIN #2 slot in ASIA
BRONZE is still good!!!

napanuod mo ba?... eh kahit nga sina andy siegle na nasa bench sobrang na-tense..... si olsen pa kaya na nasa loob...
kakalungkot tlaga...:( kakaiyak...:shedtears:

Oh how bloody brilliant of you. You know, it's so much easier finger-pointing than making free throws. That's why most idiots choose the former.
Let's see you make a free throw. I bet you won't even hit one in a hundred.
#2 na lang.
