Well a decade ago, almost everybody I knew wanted to work for this company.

Now I want to get the sentiments of young people. Is it still THE company you'd want to work for?

  • San Miguel has great benefits (medical, car plans, etc) but right now, they don't pay as high as the other companies, specifically multinationals.

Companies that are "global" give better salaries kasi sinasabayan na rin nila ang salary bracket of other countries. Plus, if you get into a mid-management level, you might also get overseas training.

Kung pwede ako doon, why not?

I've heard that their culture has changed quite a bit since Danding took the helm. I'm not too sure I'd like to work there myself.
  • Nix,

Was the change for better or for worse?
  • I've some friends who are working there who I have known since we were classmates in high school. Nice guy, quiet, very talented artist -- I tried to pirate him, but he said he was doing ok at San Miguel :) I think he's worked there since grad 3 years ago, so I guess he's having fun over there. I'm on my 3rd! :D job already, and he's still on his first! :)

Given my own opinion as to whether I would consider working there or not, you may guess how I see the culture change.

Yes, there is job security, but no, thank you. The company is too big for me.
  • Quick tip: don't.

been able to work at one of their offices there.... it was a nice experience...that's because i'm just a trainee...

& feedbacks from some people.... better look for another company daw, hindi na gaanong maganda ang magtrabaho doon...
  • Kuya Danny: Correction, there is no longer any Job Security in San Miguel. (ps. It isn't a meritocracy anymore either.)

    Dear Kuya Danny,

Hard as it is to believe, there was a brief window of meritocracy in San Miguel. Circa 1994 to 1997. It's been downhill since then.

    smits?

    smc sucks!
the only ones who're getting fair share are the ones whose working 'regular' and are working for smc direct and not in one of those subsidiaries na ginawang seperate companies para makaiwas sa benefits, tax and overemployment.

but the training was good, makes you think you're ready to brag for a 20-25 salary in other companies...

dunno bout the other subsidiaries...pero kun gusto mo malaman sa IT subsidiary niya? di na lang ako magsasalita......you know what i mean do you.
  • smits ka ba jonga?.. he he he
anyways, im not from smits...(thank god)
i work at one of smc's packaging plant.. regular employment din dito.. kaso nga lang napakababa talaga starting..
but the good thing is.. i got and still enjoying a lot of trainings.. nakakasawa na talaga!.. :yum:
  • ok ba sa smits? contractual nga pagkaalam ko, nagapply kasi ako dun e, in the process pa rin of ang application ko (had a couple of interviews already).

    ayos ba dito?

my training in SAP was conducted by SMITS(cno pa nga ba?).. at nakakwen2han namin mga taga SMITS.. malaki lang daw sweldo sa mga consultants dun... mababa lang sweldo, like any other san miguel employees(from subsidiaries ha).. pero sawa ka sa training. okay na yun.. tataas naman ang presyo mo pagkagaling mo sa SMC.
    good luck!:D

Me thread na ganito na ah... :D

    joke..

well kung ang hanap mo e big stepping stone....i recommend smits...pero kung gusto ng for life na job.....don't get into this company....
  • brad.....si mam maylene me balak bumalik from jolibee......hnlabo no?
