what is happening to the Lakers?

after a 16 gm winning streak, they are crumbling. hehehhe..as of today, they have been dislodged by the blazers as the team with the best record in the NBA. Paano
na ngayon?

  • yeah, what's happening with them? they've lost 6 out of their last 9 games after that 16 game win streak. maybe they're overconfident and are not playing within the system. baka nagka-kanya kanya na sila. or maybe they're just in a slump!
  • Phil Jackson is probably glad that it did happen, at least it brings down the ego of the players and make them realize come playoff time that they're not all that...
  • The Lakers are starting to be involve in those trade rumours. They are beginning to fade, is it too much minute for the starters?

I agree with Kamats. I believe trying periods like these past few games will make them stronger for the playoffs.

Their main problem is that outside of Shaq And Kobe, no one else is contributing in any meaningful fashion. For instance Rice only scored 5 pts in the loss to the spurs. Horry can't hit the open jumper and Fisher's shooting is just atrocious. Harper and Shaw ahve been good defensively but absent offensively. Hopefully, things will get better.

it's good na ngayon sila nagsu-slump kesa naman sa playoffs magsuno-sunod yung talo nila....remeber that the bulls also suffered from midseasons slumps during their championship years....there was a year where they were just 4-4 to start the season, and in their 72 win season, there was a span where they lost 3 of 4 games....
  • So one again it's time for the Laker-bashing to begin. It seems that the one to lead the Laker-bashing is of course, a Blazer fan. But that's alright. Slumps are a part of any team's struggle to win an NBA championship. San Antonio suffered a slump last year, as did Chicago for two straight seasons. The 72-10 Bulls didn't suffer any major slump, unless you count those late-season losses to Washington, and the playoff series aginst Seattle.

So the Lakers have lost 6 of thier last 9. SO WHAT? They're still in playoff contention and Portland barely holds the lead in the West (it's just by a 1/2 game). Nobody questions the fact that they will win more games and will eventually end up in the playoffs. If somebody questions the ability of Phil Jackson, then The Rock says that they should check how many rings Phil has on his hands.

neth_row already pointed out that this is better time to slump, in the middle of the season, than in the playoffs. batang uliran also stated the fact that there are less contributors to the team effort.

It's just a matter of checking people's collective egos and telling them to shove it. do you want to score 27 points a game or do you want to win a Championship? If players choose the former, Jerry West should start making trades soon. If it's the latter, hold tight, the Lakers will be ready to romp once again. If you smell what The Rock is cookin!
  • It's sad to see the lakers losing! a lot of people esp. their critics loves to pound on them when something like this happens even if they are still in contention. I believe they will come back!!!! this losing streak would just make them better. It's all part of the learning process. I know this time they will not choke come the playoffs.
    LAKERS RULES!!!!!!
