Sa amin kasi sa UPLB, may Graduate School which is a separate college... magkakasama na lahat dun ang mga post-graduate programs
ahh hindi eh, but basta yung mga calculus and yeah stats, ok yun.
full-time, mga 1.5-2 years. i highly suggest not going into grad school straight away, dapat alam mo if it's the program for you. econ or not, there are many good programs, but usually malalaman mo talaga gusto mo when you're working na.
I guess that happens kung maliit lang naman ang student population ng isang campus. Much easier administratively-speaking to just lump them altogether. Pero sa campus na malaki like Diliman, it makes better sense to just let the college concerned handle the administrative and the academic side.
In UP Manila yes. The grad school there is called the National Graduate Office for the Health Sciences (dahil health ang forte ng UP Manila). Sila ang a-apply-an mo to get into a course which is handled by a specific college. Bale sila lang naghahandle ng records mo and nagcocoordinate between colleges, pero yung acads and some admin dun pa rin sa college na naghahandle nung course.
Maganda sa unified graduate school, meron iisang standard na sinusunod, e.g. kung kailangan ng thesis sa isang master course, then all the courses requires a thesis to complete, kung kailangan ng publication, then everybody needs to publish. Sa ibang bansa ganyan na rin ginagawa.
Sa nakikita ko kasi sa Diliman, parang at the whim lang ng advisers and professors (w/ the ensuing politics and pissing contests between them) kung papasa or enough na ang ginawa ng isang student. Madalas, dahil sa pataasan ng ihi among the professors, tuwing pre-defense eh laging may mga "suggestions" on how to improve the thesis, until halos inflated na ang buong study beyond the original objectives and constantly delayed na yung kawawang grad student.
Well, you can have one set of standards for sure, but what's appropriate for one isn't appropriate for the other. Certainly not everyone needs to publish or even have a thesis.
Syempre masama pa rin ang pataasan ng ihi, but rather than having everyone do the same thing, there should be more interaction and collaboration between graduate programs. That way you can ensure that the quality is homogenized.
Hi everyone! I'm currently taking up my MBA in UPD. Baka may classmate/blockmate ako dito.![]()
Hi Heid. I'm planning to pursue my MBA in UPD too probably by June next year since I heard they don't accept applicants daw ng mid-sem. Anyway, how is your schedule? Do they have weekends? I have a full-time work kasi and at the rate of how it is at the office, I'm not sure if I can commit my weeknights for grad school. Thanks.![]()
Heid, yayain mo na lang ng date si glyn para makapag-usap kayo nang matagal tungkol sa grad school application nya. ayiiii![]()
