    Thumbs up

for the record, i had absolutely zero intention of watching this movie....napilit lang ako ng kaibigan ko....

pero ok naman siya....not too bad at all....it's not your typical pinoy pa-tweetums love story....it's as realistic as it can get....plus there are a couple of funny moments....of course, the acting of diether ocampo is lousy as usual, but the script made him look good....and to think that it's competition includes the likes of gladiator, shanghai noon, u-571, titan a.e., and supernova, medyo madami din yung nanood.....pero mejo corny yung ending.....

all in all, i think it's the best pinoy romantic film in recent years....enjoy the movie.....

neth_row: thanks for the comments! atleast, i have a better reason to watch the film. i was really planning to see the movie kasi gustung-gusto ko si angelu during her TGIS days.

unlike other teen-romantic movies, this one looks okay tlaga. trailer pa lang, obvious na di na ito pa-tweetums, mejo mature na sya ng konti...

I couldn't believe it when my brother told me he saw this one! He's not the type kasi... Anyway he said it was actually not bad at all...except trying hard lang talaga si Diether mag english... So what's new...

you're right! the movie wasn't your typical pinoy teeny bopper flick. it was as realistic as it could get. but, i really, really hated the ending. it was so...TGIS. hindi bagay dun sa movie. nakakaasar. pero, okay na rin. pwede na rin pagtiyagaan. close your eyes na lang when it comes to the ending.

neth-row, I don't think you're being baduy when you watch a Filipino movie.

Joey Reyes is one of the very few Filipino filmmakers who continues to respond to the times. He made "Toro" which was lauded in the 2000 Berlin Int'l Film Festival, but he's also made this film we're talking about. After "Toro."

We are ready to face criticism. The minute our films are out, iyon na iyon. Husgahan n'yo na. The fact that we use our real names in our films indicates na hindi kami takot sa pagpuna. Siguro naman, that act in itself deserves an audience na hindi nagtatakip ng mukha pagpasok sa theater.

It just makes me feel all to sad that we judge the caliber of our actors based on their proficiency in English.

For years, not only moviemakers but truly concerned educators and thinkers have worked hard to make us proud of who we are and what we can do. It is all too disgusting to think that the return to this colonial mentality and belief that English is the language of superiority has prevailed among the young people.

And,yes, I am proficient in both English and Pilipino.

At ipinagmamalaki ko ang pagiging Pilipino.

May I just clarify something? Hindi ko ikinahihiya ang pagiging Pilipino ko. I don't have anything against Deither (or his English) either. I was just sharing a comment made by someone who's seen the movie. (That's what this thread is for anyway right? ) In fairness din to my brother, I don't think he was judging the quality of the movie on Diether's english (or diction). In fact he even said it was a good movie. sheilalibs, siguro lang in this case, he meant the movie would've turned out even better if he spoke in Filipino (if he was more comfortable with the language). That's all...

Ah basta!

Hi, Neth-row. Pete Lacaba, in an article that saw print in the Inquirer late last year, took note that "Nearly a dozen quality films doing the international-filmfest circuit in the same year may not seem like much in an industry that produces around 150 movies each year. But anyone familiar with the history of Philippine cinema knows this is a precedent-setting event. In 1979, a single Lino Brocka film making it to Cannes was already cause for celebration."

Pete was referring to the dozen Filipino films going around last year. Filipino films are screening in all six continents, pwera na lang Antartica and that's because walang festival doon.

We're starting from scratch, 'eto na ang tinatawag na 'post-Brocka' period of Philippine cinema.

Thanks just the same for watching Filipino films.

grabe, that's a laugh! i mean, hiding your face. i'm not ashamed to watch filipino movies. there are really a lot of good film makers out there. it doesn't make you jolog or baduy to watch filipino films naman eh.

actually, i'm not proud to watch foreign films over filipino films. but i just can't help but watch foreign films. i mean there are lots of great foreign films really although they also have their sets of trash. pero ang galing talaga ng mga concepts nila most of the time. as in you'd ask, "how were they able to think of that?"

sorry, pero i won't watch this angelu-diether film. i just hate diether's acting.

Parang mga "Closet Queens". though I have nothing against "Closet Queens", kasi naman ano, ang society natin!

You are so correct! Hats off and a hug, Felix ... Isn't is so ironic and sad that we have " Pinoy closet film goers"? What does that say about our people and what they think of being Filipino?

Yes! Kasi nga, going back to "Closet Queens". Bakit ayaw nilang lumantad?

Naku!
To quote you again, "linisin mo muna..."

I think that movie is really sick.

It glorifies girls who are very promiscuous and who just go with boys just like that.

I believe that movie does not set a fine example or even a true picture of Filipinas of today.
