    BAPTISM

    The second kind of Baptism

The second instance for baptism was when Jesus told His Disciples:

Matthew 28:19 (NIV) "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,"

Matthew 28:19 (KJV) "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"

To note, there is a difference in the rendition of the verse for the two translations of the Bible. In the New International Version (NIV), “make disciples” was commanded for the Disciples to do. However, no instance in the Old Testament where a prophet or chosen of God was endowed the authority to appoint fellow servants (disciples) of God.

Even so, the Apostles of Christ before receiving the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, Peter acting as spokesperson, replaced Judas Iscariot with Matthias (Read: Acts 1:16-26). This is probably what every Christian sect leaders are following in appointing their respective priests, pastors, and ministers by taking the translation in the New International Version of the Bible.

However, very clearly Jesus Christ never recognized Matthias as replacement for Judas Iscariot. Instead, He appointed Paul known as Saul of Tarsus, formerly His persecutor (Romans 1:1).

And, in the Authorized Version or KJV’s rendition of “teach” in Mathew 28:19, this also cannot be taken literally without contradicting the following:

Matthew 11:25 "At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes."

And never was Paul taught by the original Apostles for he testifies to the following:

Galatians 1:11 " But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man."

Galayians 1:12 "For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ."

From the foregoing exposition of God of His words, the second occasion for “baptism” is revealed. After Pentecost the Disciples began to “speak in tongues” when Peter spoke about Jesus Christ. Let us remember it was Peter who recognized Jesus, proclaiming Him the “Christ” and the “Son of the living God.” With this affirmation, Jesus told him, “flesh and blood hath not revealed that unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” Therefore, it required a “miracle” for Peter recognize Jesus.

From David, Peter began tracing the roots of Jesus. He spoke of the significance of His crucifixion on the cross, His resurrection from the dead, and concluding this with the following:

Acts 2:36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ."

Here is the significance of Jesus being called "Lord."

Psalms 33:12 "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

Isaiah 44:24 "Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;"

Here is the significance of Jesus being called Christ that means savior:

Isaiah 43:11 "I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour."

Isaiah 43:10 "Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

    [QUOTE=aida;62082808]THE RICH MAN & LAZARUS

Luke 16:19 "There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table:"

    MAN'S UNDERSTANDING AND EXPLANATION

The story is taken literally-physically; thus, the Rich Man is wealthy in material things living luxuriously. Lazarus is a literal beggar who has nothing to eat but those crumbs falling from the table of the Rich Man.

Luke 16:22 "And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom."

Upon their death, the Rich Man suffers the fires of hell, while Lazarus was brought to Paradise where Abraham and the Old Testament saints are.

To take the word of God literally, it is impossible for a financially and materially rich man to enter the kingdom of God. How could a camel enter the eye of a needle?

Matthew 19:23 "Then said Jesus unto his disciples… And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

However, this will contradict what is written about rich men becoming chosen people of God. In the Old Testament, Abram later known as Abraham was a rich man:

Genesis 13:2 "And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold."

In the New Testament, Joseph of Arimathea was a rich man:

Matthew 27:57 "...there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:"

Also, taking the word of God literally, the way to heaven will no longer be "narrow" for there are many financially and materially poor people around the world. But as it is written, only few ever succeed in attaining eternal life because the gate is narrow:

Matthew 7:13 "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.".../QUOTE]

What God revealed to Peter in proclaiming Jesus is the "Christ," is that he saw Him as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who made the Testament of Salvation.

Genesis 17:7 "And I will establish my covenant (OR TESTAMENT) between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee."

And this truth requires the death of the maker or testator:

Hebrews 9:16 "For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator."

And the Father, the maker or testator had to manifest Himself in the flesh:

1 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."

There could be no other entity that could point to the "testator in the flesh" but JESUS CHRIST!

Philippians 2:6 "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:"

Philippians 2:7 "But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:"

Philippians 2:8 "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."

    Matthew confirmed this in:

Matthew 1:23 "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."

Isaiah long ago wrote who the "Savior" is! The Father speaking:

Isaiah 43:11 "I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour."

On the cross, Jesus in His role as the Father declared fulfilling the Testament of Salvation:

John 19:30 "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."

Apostle John confirming what he saw and heard from Jesus His primary role:

1 John 3:16 (KJV) "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us..."

Some of those who heard the truth about Jesus recognized Him as Peter did, that they asked him what to do:

Acts 2:37 "Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Then Peter continued his exhortation to them:

Acts 2:40 "And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation."

Acts 2:41 ":Then they that gladly received his word were baptized…"

Acts 2:42 "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers."

Acts 2:43 "And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles."

From this incident of "baptism" the Disciples recognized the NAME of the Father and the Holy Spirit is JESUS CHRIST for they already know the name of the Son.

Ano ang kinalaman nito sa sinasabi mong pagdaragdag ko? Nagsasalita kang hindi mo nauunawaan ang iyong mga sinasabi.

John’s Baptism without the Holy Spirit!

Here is another incident for "baptism" when Paul met the disciples of John the Baptist.

Acts 19:1 "And it came to pass…Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,"

Acts 19:2 "He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost."

Acts 19:3 "And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism."

Very clear as previously discussed that John’s Baptism is limited only to accepting the written words of the Holy Bible from the book Genesis to the book Revelations. His disciples, like the Pharisees, are limited to following the "letter" of the law.

Matthew 9:14 "Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?"

Fasting to John’s disciples is making oneself hungry of literal bread. So when Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights, Satan taking this literally told Him to "turn the stones into bread."

It is written God/Jesus Christ speaks in parables that it necessitates "divine revelation" for the intended message thereto.

Ezekiel 20:49 "Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?"

Psalms 78:2 "I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:"

All the written words contained in the Holy Bible are referred to as the "letter" of the word. Now it can be seen that John’s baptism is called "baptism of repentance" because a person is convicted of not truly following what "is written."

Romans 3:20 "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin."

Hence, how could anybody fulfill ALL what is required from the written words with this stiff condition revealed to James?

James 2:10 "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."

Therefore the phrase "baptism of repentance" actually refers to a person’s submission to the first step of salvation pronounced by our Lord in:

Matthew 18:3 "And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."

John’s Baptism without the Holy Spirit!

Hence, God expects a person to avoid the following taboos:

    1. Not to trust anybody on matters pertaining to God

Jeremiah 17:5 "Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man (NATURAL MAN), and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD."

    2. Never to lean unto own understanding pertaining to the word of God

Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."

    3. Avoid being deceived by feeling

Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"

The fruit of avoiding the foregoing prohibitions is revealed since Old Testament time. It is the endowment of "divine knowledge and wisdom."

Isaiah 28:9 (KJV) "Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts."

Matthew 11:25 "At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes."

Truly therefore, John’s Baptism "prepare the way of the LORD, and make straight in the desert a highway for our God." Without accepting the totality of the inspired words of God in the Holy Bible with God’s elucidation thereto, there could be no "Baptism of the Holy Spirit." This is the significance of John the Baptist, saying:

Matthew 3:11 "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:"

    Baptism by the Holy Spirit

After accepting everything written in the Sacred Scriptures, but could not obey everything required, we realized our sinfulness. Therefore nothing can we do but to implore God’s mercy. This is when we comprehend the real meaning of the following:

Matthew 9:13 "But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

Many people claim "righteousness" that refers to morality or uprightness. This is acquired with human efforts through sacrifices. To God "righteousness" is obedience to everything written of His words which is impossible to do. With John’s Baptism therefore, the humble is convicted of unworthiness before God.

    In the Old Testament:

Psalms 14:2 "The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God."

Psalms 14:3 "They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one."

    As revealed to Paul:

Romans 3:10 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:"

Romans 3:11 "There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God."

Romans 3:12 "They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one."

Romans 3:13 "Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:"

This is where John’s Baptism leads to "repentance." Clearly therefore, the purpose of God for His words is to humble a person to ask for His mercy.

    Baptism by the Holy Spirit
    (continuation)

The following now presents a clearer view making a person worthy of the "Baptism of the Holy Spirit."

From Peter’s preaching of the truth about Jesus whom he recognized by divine revelation:

Acts 2:36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ."

It was the FATHER referring to Himself as the LORD in the following:

Isaiah 42:8 "I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another…"

And it was the FATHER claiming to be the only Savior and no one beside Him :

Isaiah 43:11 "I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour."

Very clearly Simon Peter is referring to the primary role of JESUS CHRIST as the "Father in the flesh." His secondary role is as "SON of God."

The Disciples of John the Baptist after they heard Paul spoke about Jesus Christ:

Acts 19:2 "He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost."

Acts 19:3 "And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism."

Acts 19:4 "Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus."

Acts 19:5 "When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus."

Here, Jesus confirms He suffers thirst that indeed He is a man.

Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. (John 19:28)

In the following, the truth that Jesus is a man and His role for salvation are confirmed.

1 Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;"

Jesus asserts that He is the Son of Father God:

Luke 23:34 "Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do…"

What follows, Jesus maintains He has God like His Apostles/Disciples. He expressed His deep sentiment as if being uncared for by Father God. In truth however, He expressed His powerlessness that He had to put His complete trust and total dependence on the Father.

Matthew 27:46 "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"

At His resurrection while Mary Magdalene was looking for Him in the tomb:

John 20:15 "Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away."

Jesus validated His being the Son of God and having God like Magdalene when she tried to touch Him:

John 20:16 "Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. 17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God."

Who would question the foregoing revelations regarding the description of Jesus being a man, a Son of God, His affirmation of having God, and His total reliance on the Father?

John 5:19 "…Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise."

John 14:28 "Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I."

Luke 18:18 "And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God."

Matthew 24:36 "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

God confirms all these that Jesus takes the role of SON of God:

Romans 8:29 "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren."

No wonder some people recognize Jesus as a man like us and could never be God. Many people however recognize Him as both man and God since He has supernatural power. This provoked diverse recognition of Him, and the identity of FATHER God remains a great mystery.

Since God is a Spirit He gave His words, through the Holy Bible, to represent Him (John 1:1). His presence therefore is manifested through His words. "God never change (Malachi 3:6)." Just as God never change, so are His words be viewed in that perspective.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun."

If people are tempted to read the Holy Bible chapter by chapter, or verse by verse, and taking the context of the story thereof to get the message, God has this to say:

Isaiah 28:10 "For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:"

The Holy Bible therefore consisting of 66 books is taken as a whole composing the words of God. In truth, God’s "presence" is manifested through His words for "God is the Word" (John 1:1). Jesus Christ is the Word of God (Revelation 19:13 ).

God speaks in parables: Ezekiel 20:49 "Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?" Who can explain the words of God? His prophets? The apostles? What is the role of God and His prophets and apostles in the simple illustration of the MICROPHONE and the SPEAKER SYSTEM? Who speaks over the microphone? From where is the sound heard from? It is from this view that God should be perceived in relation to His chosen servants.

    CHRIST’S INSTRUCTION FOR DIRECTION

Once the disciples asked our Lord for the signs of His coming and the end of the world.

Matthew 24:3 "And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. …9 Then… ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake…. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many"

Is Christ’s coming not stated in parable? Take notice of His promised in "Matthew 28:20 "… and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Was Christ with His disciples before His death? After His death and resurrection? After His resurrection but before His ascension to heaven? At Pentecost? After Pentecost? Today? Till the end of the world? In a parable, Jesus Christ gave the direction for His people to follow:

MATTHEW 24:16 "...let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains."

To escape annihilation in the hands of the enemy, man understands this to simply leave Judea , a place in southern Palestine , and flee to the mountains. Or he may try to allegorize the words by saying, "man must leave his place of residence and find a suitable abode for his safety."

If that is all to the word of God, then how could it be a "living bread?" If this is simply taken literally, waiting for our Lord’s physical coming, where is His promise in the following?

Matthew 28:20 "… and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

If our Lord is yet to come, where is His promise of "being always, even unto the end of the world" with His disciples. Does not our Lord always fulfill His promise? Who can explain the parable without the divine revelation through the Word of God? True to what Jesus did to His disciples however, He explains everything (Mark 4:34).

    "Born again"

Unnoticed by many Bible readers is that baptism of John the Baptist is actually tied up to our Lord Jesus’ advice to Nicodemus in:

John 3:3 "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Paul received the revelation of the meaning of "born again" as the "miracle" of transformation from spiritual "goat" to spiritual "sheep." He wrote:

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ (Kung ang sinoman ay "ipinanganak na muli" o "kay Cristo" o si Jesucristo na ang nakikilala at kinikilalang Dios), he is a new creature (siya ay isa nang bagong espirituwal na nilalang, o isa nang espirituwal na tupa at hindi na isang espirituwal na kambing): old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

Nicodemus, a renowned teacher of the law in Israel, could not understand "born again" because he was still a spiritual "goat" then.

John 3:4 "Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?"

Today, many people are laughing at Nicodemus. Without divine revelation they think in order to be "born again" simply needs "accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their life" without the requisite spiritual (not emotional) humility:

Matthew 18:3 "And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."

    Therefore the warning:

Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"

    Jesus Christ continued:

John 3:5 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water (Ipanganak ng TUBIG o salita, o nakinig sa purong evangelio o nananampalataya kay Jesus o sa lahat ng mga nasusulat - Acts 16:31) and of the Spirit (sa tao ay doroon ang espiritu ni Cristo), he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

Romans 8:9 "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God (Jesus Christ) dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."

    BAPTISM

    "Born of water"

"Born of water" actually is what John the Baptist did as earlier expounded through the word of God:

Isaiah 40:3 "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God."

Isaiah 40:4 (KJV) "Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:"

And "born of the Spirit" is what John the Beloved said of Jesus:

Matthew 3:11 "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:"

    Baptism of the Holy Spirit

Tying these great mystery of the word, being "baptized in the name of Jesus Christ" is actually "born of the Spirit" where a person is "miraculously" converted from spiritual "goat" to spiritual "sheep."

Jesus Christ as a "lamb" speaks the "language of sheep" while Nicodemus when he went to see Him cannot be expected to understand "bon again" since he was still a spiritual "goat" at the time.

If the people are laughing at Nicodemus for not understanding "born again," they must be laughing at themselves after receiving the "miracle." "Born again of water and of the Spirit" is far from what many people think by simply "Accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their life."

"Baptized in the name of the Lord" in effect means "born again of water and of the Spirit." John’s Baptism is the equivalent of "born of water," while "born of the Spirit" is conversion from spiritual "goat" to spiritual "sheep."

"Baptism of the Holy Spirit" therefore is what happened when those listening to Peter yearned to have the truth:

Acts 2:37 "Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Acts 2:39 "For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."

So with the disciples of John the Baptist on hearing Paul telling them:

"Laying of hands" is not a ritual but simply sharing the truth about Jesus Christ to the "poor in spirit" or spiritual "little children" that they deserve to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit:

Acts 19:6 "And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied."

"Speaking in tongues" is to speak the spiritual language of God, and to "prophesy" is the ability to articulate it.

    "HATE THY FATHER AND MOTHER"

Enshrined in The Ten Commandments is:

"Honor your father and your mother."

This is one commandment with a promise:

Exodus 20:12 "Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee."

    Paul emphasized this:

Ephesians 6:2 "Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise)"

And this is a commandment with a specified punishment for its violation:

Matthew 15:4 "For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death."

And now Jesus Christ told the multitudes that followed Him:

Luke 14:25 "And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,"

Luke 14:26 "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple."

Preachers have easy explanation heard from the pulpits. They say, of course Jesus Christ cannot contradict what is written in the Ten Commandments. He simply wants His listeners to love God more than those enumerated, citing the following coming from the very lips of Jesus Christ:

Matthew 10:37 "He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."

The foregoing cannot be the "intended message" from His directive, for it is "to hate" and not just "to love more than." Therefore, this must be a classic illustration that validates the following truth about the word of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Mark 4:34 "But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples."

Hence, the real message should come from the revelation of the Holy Spirit who, alone, is the Teacher:

1 John 2:27 "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him."

Certainly, this truth can only be accepted by the real Disciples for they alone can abide by how Jesus Christ directs them in the following:

1 Corinthians 2:13 "Which things (spiritual things/things of God) also we (appointed disciples) speak (teach), not in the words (literal words) which man's (natural man's) wisdom teacheth (physical wisdom), but which the Holy Ghost teacheth (Jesus Chrsist - Acts 20:28); comparing spiritual things with spiritual."

The following may well be the four (4) steps to become followers of Christ and attain spiritual perfection:

    First – "hate thy father"
    Second – "hate thy mother"
    Third – "hate thy soul"
    Fourth – "hate thy self"

    "HATE THY FATHER AND MOTHER"

    First - hate thy "father"

Jonh 8:44 "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."

Is the Devil a murderer? In the eyes of the Natural Man not one single person did the Devil kill. In the Great Deluge and at Sodom and Gomorrah it was God who killed the people! This only demonstrates how the "letter" of the word, or its literal meaning, "killeth" as Paul wrote in the following.

2 Corinthians 3:6 " Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life."

Falsehoods and misrepresentations kill the soul, not the body that many people cannot see. The foregoing has not been heard in the pulpits and only the “chosen few” has discerned it. Related with this, can many professing Christians accept the following?

2 Corinthians 4:18 "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."

While many people know Satan is the "father of lies and deceit" they cannot discern how he deceives them. In a very subtle way many people are taken in by deception, that means guile and shrewdness. Did he not deceive Eve in eating the forbidden fruits of the "tree of knowledge of good and evil?"

    God’s warning:

Genesis 2:17 "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

    Devil’s deception:

Genesis 3:4 "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:"

Genesis 3:5 "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

Genesis 3:6 " And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat…"

Taking the "letter" of the word, Eve did not die on the day she ate the fruits of the "tree of knowledge of good and evil." She also began to know what is "good and evil" from the dictate of her "intellect and feeling" that clearly point to the "fruits" of the Tree of knowledge of good and evil. Thus, these taboos revealed:

    To Solomon

Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."

    To Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 17:9 " The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"

    "HATE THY FATHER AND MOTHER"

Definitely at creation, God taught Adam and Eve His "standard of good and evil." Eating the forbidden fruits therefore made man to formulate his own "standard of good and evil." Look! Literally, God confirmed the Devil’s temptation for "eating" the forbidden fruits:

Genesis 3:22 "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:"

Genesis 3:24 "So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life."

Very clearly demonstrated in the foregoing, "good and evil" now takes two different standards.

    1. "God’s standard" of good and evil by "divine revelation" from His words.

    2. "Man’s standard" of good and evil from the very word of God limited to the "letter" or its literal meaning.

This is illustrated by Jesus Christ right after driving the "merchants selling sheep and doves, and the changing money" from the temple:

John 2:19 " Jesus … said unto them, Destroy (Patayin ninyo) this temple (ang katawang ito), and in three days I will raise it up (at sa loob ng tatlong araw ay muli ko itong bubuhayin)."

The two "standards of good and evil" heard from the two kinds of listeners:

For the NATURAL MAN represented by the JEWS:

John 2:20 "Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?"

Matthew 27:40 "And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross."

For the SPIRITUAL MAN represented by the DISCIPLES:

John 2:21 "But he spake of the temple of his body."

John 2:22 "When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them (John 2:19); and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said."

This is how important to know the characteristic of the Ministers of the New Testament. This was revealed to Paul who recognized Jesus Christ personally:

2 Corinthians 3:6 "Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life."

Romans 7:14 "For we know that the law is spiritual…"

    "HATE THY FATHER AND MOTHER"

    Second - hate thy "mother"

If the "father" is the Devil, the "mother" must be his "wife" to whom he implants his "seeds" and bear many "children of the Devil." The "seed" of God are His words.

Luke 8:11 "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God."

The "seeds" of the Devil are also the word of God as he tempted Jesus in the wilderness. Written in the book of Psalms:

Psalms 91:10 "There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling."

Pslmsa 91:11 "For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways."

Psalms 91:12 "They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone."

Satan took "Jesus up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple" and said:

Matthew 4:6 "And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone."

How many professing Christians see this, and if they do, how many would believe and accept this great deceptions?

2 Corinthians 4:4 "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."

And so, are exposed the kind of ministers he has:

2 Corinthians 11:13 "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ."

2 Corinthians 11:14 "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light."

2 Corinthians 11:15 "Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."
