I found this thread: Religion and Contraceptives and i would like to know if that's a common practice in the Phils. Is this a form of malpractice or no?

Also, my gf would like to see her gyno for an advice on contraceptives but she's paranoid that her gyno (family friend) will tell her parents. Is there such thing as patient confidentiality? If so, what can you do if it's violated? thanx...

I'm not currently based in the Philippines but I would think that patient confidentiality should be universal.

I think that there would also be gynecologists in the country who would be able to offer proper advice regarding contraception.

Confidentiality is part and parcel of medical practice.

However if you have any doubts you can always consult with other ob gyns who are not your parents' friends.
