hey that's an interesting topic. there's a lot of films out there with coming-of-age topics.

for instance, Empire of the Sun (coming-of-age amidst the war, by Steven Spielberg, starring Christian Bale). or Lord of the Flies.

or if you want less mainstream films, para maiba naman ang report mo at ma-interes ka at the same time, you can try viewing anime films like: Omoido Poro Poro (Miyazaki film yan) or the other one... lemesee what's it called... uhm, anime guys help... which is the one about the guy who wants to be a violin maker and the girl who wants to be a writer? Mimi Sumaseba or something? or, if you want another war coming-of-age movie, Grave of the Fireflies.

and what do you mean films with psychologican impact? that's rather vague. most films have psychological content, but if you mean those with psychological topics per se, well... there's always One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (a DVD of which I found in Eastwood's Walk, but expensive), Awakenings (which had Robin Williams and Robert de Niro), Prince of Tides, Sybil, etc...

off the top of my head lang. will post when i think up of more.

Hi there, here are few suggestions that might help you.

    For the movie about aging:

    1. Two Bits- Starring Al Pacino
It's a hot summer day in 1933 in South Philly, where 12-year old Gennaro lives with his widowed mom and his ailing grandpa, who sits outside holding tight to his last quarter, which he's promised to Gennaro and which Gennaro would like to have to buy a ticket to the plush new movie theater. But grandpa's not ready to pass on the quarter or pass on to his final reward: he has some unfinished business with a woman from his past, and he enlists Gennaro to act as his emissary.

    2. Wrestling Ernest Hemingway- Perfect 'to with Richard Harris, Robert Duvall and Shirley Mc Laine.
Frank a retired irish seaman and Walter a retired cuba barber are two lonely old man trapped in the emptiness of their lives.

    3. Tuesdays with Morrie- This is a telemovie with Hank Azaria and Jack Lemmon
Mitch became caught up with his career as a sport commentator and journalist. He ignored his girlfriend and did not make time to do things in life that are of the most value to a human being. Morrie was one of Mitch's Professor in College and was a famous scholar. One day Mitch was watching television and saw Morrie giving an interview stating that he is dying of Lou Gehrig disease or ALS. Morrie wanted to give his last lesson in life to the world. Mitch decided to visit Morrie. By visiting Morrie he began changing his perception about life, and learned about things in life that really matter and that changed his life. Mitch then wrote a book about his relationship with Morrie.

    For Psychological Thrillers:

    1. Single White Femalew with Bridget Fonda
    2. Girl Interrupted with Winona Ryder
    3. Copycat with Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter
    4. Seven with Brad Pitt
    5. Don't Say a Word with Michael Douglas
    6. Awakenings with Robert de Niro and Robin Williams
    7. Rain Man with Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman

    and many more...

Hope these titles will help. Goodluck on your report!

here's another one with an adulthood theme: the incredibly depressing but very well-written American Beauty

psychological themes: there's also Agnes of God , uhm... i'm not sure about the title, Birdy yata yun, with Matthew Modine, and if you want something with a topic that doesn't revolve around insanity or serial killing, there's a movie with Dennis Quaid in it, tsk, can't remember the title right now... he plays a former high school jock who got married to his prom queen girlfriend... si jessica lange yata... uhm Noel Vera, what's it called na nga? help me out, will ya?

there's also When A Man Loves A Woman . you can analyze the alcoholism issue there.

    MUMFORD

    my favorite film

Some towns have all the fun.

Dr. Mumford has a talent for listening. He's only been in town four months, but he's already the most popular psychologist around. He listens to his clients' problems, gets involved in their lives -- and helps them in unexpected ways. But the man who hears the secrets has the biggest secret of all.

A comedy from four-time Academy Award-nominated writer/director Lawrence Kasdan, Touchstone Pictures' "Mumford" tells the story of a young psychologist who hangs out his shingle in a small town that, curiously, is also called Mumford. Dr. Mumford is soon dispensing no-nonsense therapy to an array of quirky locals who are won over by his genuine attentiveness and surprising frankness. Mumford's unusual style opens new possibilities, lightens hearts darkened by old secrets, and sparks romance in unlikely places. But the doctor can use some help of his own.

Touchstone Pictures' comedy, "Mumford," stars (in alphabetical order) Jane Adams, Ted Danson, Hope Davis, Loren Dean, Jason Lee, Mary McDonnell, David Paymer, Martin Short, Robert Stack, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Alfre Woodard.

Why don't you try American Adobo? Although I don't think they have it on video na. First Wives Club is also a good film. Soltera, Separada and Mila starring Maricel Soriano, Curacha starring Rosanna Roces, Makati Ave starring Alma Moreno, Minsan Minahal Kita starring Sharon Cuneta.
