Carol Banawa slipped back into the country quietly Friday last week and went right back to Singapore four days later (with her mom) to resume performing in the musical Ben Hur. By accepting the Ben Hur role, Carol got into trouble with the ABS-CBN Talent Center, forcing her to resign (or was she fired?) from A.S.A.P. where she was given very generous exposure. When Carol comes home after completing her Ben Hur stint, she will resurface on – you didn’t guess it, did you? – GMA 7’s S.O.P.

Hindi naman natin masisisi si Carol kung bakit mas pinili niya pa ang kontrata niya sa Singapore. Career move 'yun para sa kanya.

i dont think masasayang si carol..considering na mas magagaling ang singers ng sop... she's overexposed sa asap...just like the rest of their artist

we still can consider it a loss to ASAP, coz Carol is fine artist.. if she'll surely move to SOP, its GMA's gain afterall....

How about Carol's recording contract with ABS-CBN's Star Records? What will happen to that then?

Aside from that loss of her original recording company, joining SOP is a gain for Carol. Her ASAP stint has exposed her to excellent production value and high tech entertainment infrastructure, but mediocre in real talent.

With her joining the likes of Lani, Jaya, Regine, Ogie, and Janno, her singing style will definitely get honed better. She will surely learn a lot from them, especially from the three unbeatable divas of adult contemporary, pop, & RnB. Her musical range and versatility will certainly grow as she gets to work with them.

Pops, Zsazsa, Ariel, Richard, RJ, and the Hunks are just too crappy singers for me. Nakakasuka ang mga singing performances nila dun (especially Richard and the Hunks).

actually, i read in another newspaper two days ago bout this. the writer said that before Carol left for Singapore months ago, she asked for a permission from ABS, and they allowed her. so Carol left knowing that she still has ASAP and Tabing Ilog when she goes back.

But then, she found out Kristine Hermosa has gotten her spot at ASAP and also, she doesn't have a part in Tabing Ilog na.

i was shocked cause i really love the singing voice of Carol Banawa. but we cannot blame her, ABS actually made a wrong move of choosing Kristine over Carol Banawa to be part of ASAP.

okay lang naman si Kristine pero nde siya bagay sa hosting coz di siya maganda magsalita eh. parang antaas ng boses. maybe she can sing, but compared to Carol, their miles apart.

for me, ABS talent center lose a gem by letting Carol Banawa leave. and surely, with Carol's talent, lalo pa siyang sisikat kahit saan siyang show pumunta. though i dont really like SOP, probably it will do good for Carol coz super alam na ng people who watches ABS shows often like me yung talent niya. probably, it's time for her to showcase her talent in other TV shows.

super love ko yung interpretation niya ng Muntik na Kitang Minahal, Panunumpa and Tanging Yaman. this girl can really sing and act!

do u really think bonded ang hosts ng asap? e mukha ngang plastikan lang sila eh . . .

u may or may not agree with me, pero sop has the best singers around . . . she's just wasting her talent sa asap . . .

I don't like ASAP, and I don't like Carol. But I must admit I fell in love with her voice in her recently launched album. Carol deserves all praises given her and she has definitely won me over (despite my prejudice)! I even saw her Xstatic concert last Saturday night on TV and I couldn't help but fall in love. Among all upcoming divas, Carol is one of a kind. She's not trying to become anybody but herself. She's got her own style. At this age of wannabes, I think that's really something to be admired.

S.O.P. SHOULD WELCOME CAROL WITH OPEN ARMS, AND VICE VERSA!

I'll have to disagree with some of you, about GMA's singers or GMA's SOP is better than 2's. And at the same time agree with you on the note that, it would be a great loss for channel 2.

Carol has a very beautiful voice. In fact i even bought her 2 albums "Carol" and "Transition." And she did quite well in the movie "Tanging Yaman." And her version of the song "Tanging Yaman" was just, perfection.



When I first saw Carol in ABS-CBN's 05:30 AM show, she was being interviewed then in her home about "The Little Mermaid" and her album "Carol" at that time.

then the reporter told her if she could sing a couple of lines from her album, that was the time when i was awed by her voice and very "filipina" like features.

I hope no one will have any violent reactions when i say, for me filipinas are the most gorgeous women in the world.
