SBC may not be the best but I believe it is one of the best. I have enjoyed the postings with regard to San Beda especially its important role in shaping the past and current NCAA image. I have been long lost to this interesting topic of collegiate basketball and its natural rivalries and I would really like to see topics like these to continue. Keep them coming.

San Beda is the best..they haven't won a championship in their third-rate NCAA league in 22 years! This year, they tried to copy Ateneo w/ a hyped-up team w/c didn't even make it to the final four! As for their outstanding junior players..naturally, they want to play in the UAAP. Who wants to play in a jologs league like the NCAA? Yung bobo or hindi gaano ka galing ang natitira sa NCAA. Besides, most of these so-called "Bedans" were actually pirated from other high schools. They are not Bedans from inception. So what's the big deal?

Since you're talking about jologs in the NCAA, I presume that you represent the UAAP, in particular, your jolog comrades like FEU, NU, Adamson and the rest of the universities you think are higher than San Beda and Benilde. We may be older and not as glamourous as your league but we can beat the crap out of any university in your league anytime. San Beda is generous enough to provide you with high-caliber players because you're junior league isn't that better than ours. You may talk the talk but can you walk the walk?

So the UAAP has San Beda to thank for providing them w/ high caliber players? If these guys transferred to the UAAP it's because they wanted to go to a more high-profile, highly glamorous league. San Beda did not "generously" give up its rights to these players..they made their choice because it was to their own benefit. Besides, San Beda cannot be credited as an "incubator" of high caliber junior players. San Beda has done its own share of poaching. Their junior superstars are not genuine San Beda products. They come from Notre Dame, San Agustin, Don Bosco, Angelicum, Marist, Southridge, just to name a few high schools San Beda lured star players from. Even Kaboom, in his analysis of San Beda's junior basketball program, acknowledged as much. In turn, San Beda does not have the moral authority to keep these junior players loyal to San Beda, because they were pirated from other schools in the first place! It's a symbiotic relationship to start w/..you use me, I use you. They owe the school nothing. They got the exposure, they gave the school some faded glory. So when they go to college, the best ones go to the UAAP. Only the dumb ones, or the second-rate ones stay. It's a Darwinian fact of life.

As for NCAA teams "beating the crap" out of UAAP teams..you must be dreaming. In the Fr. Martin Cup, where teams from both leagues meet, UE & Ateneo contested the championship. By the way, Ateneo beat more than just the crap from your team last summer.

It true, It's a Darwinian fact of life. Some evolve into monsters pa nga eh! I remember Hapee Ateneo juniors getting smothered by San Beda with Mika Vainio pa. They do have to make the right choices, poaching is not new, pirating is not new either. I remember the four-peat tigers getting their butts kicked by San Sebastian everytime they meet for the Battle of Champions. One thing is still true, you may have the money, you may have the glamour, you may have the talent but you can never underestimate the underdogs. Just like the law of statistics that caught up with Ateneo against FEU, and so will the UAAP against the NCAA. UST made a mistake of benching Alejandro Magpayo in the UAAP. And right now, he's playing better in Benilde than those Tiger dimwits when they met in the NBL. And so in conclusion, the Darwinian law can catch up on anybody, even us in the NCAA. If they chose the UAAP because of the glamour, I can proudly say that players who play in the NCAA have the greater heart than all of your schools can muster and they don't seek fame, they just work harder. And that's why we can beat the crap out your schools anytime and anyday. Minus bottle-throwing incidents anyway!
