Yeah, I think the ending was kinda confusing also. But It's still great to watch it!

Just borrowed Shin Getta Robo vs. Neo Getta Robo. The OAV concentrated mainly on Neo Getta, as we're introduced to Shin Getta here. Cool na sana 'yung Neo Getta, kaya lang ano laban niya sa Shin Getta with the bat-wings, and that giant ax? Everything was so much cooler than the Getta The Rock grew up on. From the individual ships to the music, to just the great coloring involved.

It was funny seeing an American "super robot" in Texas Jack too. His passable "English" was the only stuff that was really understandable as The Rock borrowed the same undubbed and un-subbed version that Camille vidan borrowed. Hahanapin ko pa 'yang 7 episode OAv na nasabi niyo.

    Gettaaaaa Beeeeeaaaaaaammmmmm!!!!!

Shin getta is much easier to find and is even subtitled. Filbar's virramall sells thjem for 80 per cd. And it is a 13 episodes or 7 cds. The story, violence and music is also far superior in shin getta.

Wait till you hear it's opening song: Heats

So what happened to three teenagers who replaced Ryoma, Benkei and the other guy as pilots of Shin-Getta Robo?

The three teenagers became pilots for the Shin Dragon instead. And since Ryoma, Hayato and Benkei went into another dimension at the end of the OAV ... maybe the three will get back to piloting Shin Getter Robo once again if a sequel is planned. But then, Ryoma and company took the robot with them. hehehe

Finally got to see the Change! Shin Getter Robo: The Last Day of the World episodes 1-13. The word wow doesn't begin to explain how amazing it was. Even the transformation of the original Getta-1 at the start looked amazing as Go Nagai seemed to say "This is the way I always wanted to animate these robots!" Seeing Musashi pilot the original Getta-3 was also very cool, pero sayang lang namatay siya.

One question though:[spoiler start]When Michiru died, how was she invaded? Did she just decide that since she'd been invaded, she'd just sacrifice herself too?[spoiler end] It was also very cool to see Ryoma, Hayato, and Benkei back in their original outfits (except for Benkei) in a brand spanking new Getta.

And yes, Ryoma Nagare is the baddest man on the planet! the way he ripped through the invaders in his Black Getta was delicious.

Did any of you see this add-on at the end of one of the episodes which featured the guy who sang the theme for this series in a concert? That was okay already, but when he welcomed the singer of the original Getta them song and the crowd sang along with him, The Rock found that very cool as well. Wonder if we'd ever get that kind of reaction from a Pinoy audience when a classic anime theme is played.

About Michiru, I dunno. I never took the story to heart, cause it's got a lot of problems. But if I were to guess, I suppose Coen and Stinger (the annoying b@stards...) had somethin' to do with it.

Myself, I liked the new costumes better. They reflected the characters personal style; Ryoma - insane wanderer; Hayato - cool commander; Benkei - plain hard @ss

And yes, Ryoma Nagare is the baddest man on the planet! The way he ripped through the invaders in his Black Getta was delicious.
    You better believe it.

    Cool

The coolest part about the Black Getta is that it reflected Ryoma's personality after all the crap he'd been through. Accused of murder, unjustly imprisoned, missing for 13 years, wandering the earth and the moon. Don't get The Rock wrong about those outfits, The Rock also dug the contemporary stuff they wore, especially Ryoma's scarf, robes, and bandages look.

Another question:[spoiler start]So Ryoma didn't kill Saotome right? Was it really Hayato? And if so, how did he do it and how was he not convicted of it?[spoiler end]

Kinopya ko lahat ng episodes ng Shin Getta Robo, including the snippet of Hironobu Kageyama singing "heats" (the Shin Getta theme) live and bringing out Mr. Isao Sasaki to sing his original version of the Getta Robo theme. Iba 'tong si Sasaki. The man practically sang most of the great super robot/live action anime types from the 70s. From Gaiking, Getta Robo, UFO Grendaizer, Yamato, Himitsu Sentai Goranger, the Super Robo Army (Great Mazinger, Grendaizer, Getta Robo G), and Daimos. The man practically defined an era for us kids who grew up watching and listening to that stuff.

What do y'all think are the best episodes? I want SGR to be included in the upcoming Animanga Club "Mecha" themed film fest, but obviously it's too long... so which ones should be included (given that we can convince the club)?
My 4 picks: (sorry, forgot the ep numbers)

    1) Second ep, where Ryoma blows up everything in sight, and Gau comes charging out of the Stasis tank, screaming his head off.
    2) When the Shin Getta reemerges long after it's supposed to be blown to bits, and goes around squishing invaders (I think this is also when Hayato's tower arrives at the sight of the Shin Dragon).
    3) The Black Getta in the Antarctic. Nuff said...
    4) The last ep, of course. Too bad about Jupiter...

    OT:
Rock: medyo maangas yang avatar mo ah...

The Black Getta Robo piloted by Ryoma rules!!! And the way Ryoma used the original Getta 1, using the battle wing and wrapping the Getta Dragons with it while ripping them with his Getta Tomahawks was wicked!

    with_a_K, sadyang maangas 'yan.

The SHin GEtter OVA is based on the manga Shin Getter Armaggedon (which is also where the PS1 game Getter Robot Big Battle is based on).
    The basic premise is this,
The alien invaders travel from the future to the present, to wipe out the getter army because it will inventably destroy them in the future. Episode thirteen simply revealed to Ryoma and company that they will be fighting these invaders for generations to come. A time/space warp of sorts if you will.

Loved this series (Armageddon and New Getter Robo) especially with the most badass lead in a mech show Ryoma Nagare

E Kung ganito ba naman itsura ng main pilot mo, expect di isang PUSEY / EMO / GENERIC ang iyong bida
