i hate CSB because their students are the ones whose always introducing themselves as lasallians.

as if being a lasallian can be proud!
    There's nothing wrong with it..
    all benildean students are lasallians....
CSB students can be called either way....
It is all in how you look at it....

Easy chicks? Hmm... I wonder what that is supposed to mean?

i really don't get this whole "oh csb is only for people who couldn't get into dlsu or just want to waste their money on glamour and unimportant things like arts and such". i really don't consider the main la salle (in a whole sense) as the most superior or incredibly smarter than csb students. it doesn't make sense to compare students based on what school they come from or how much money they have. you can't compare a student who's good in mathematics to a student who excels in management and finances, etc. i think this whole teasing and bullying needs to be stopped. you guys say no one "hates" csb, and yet you crack jokes here and there about it; you're all just being hypocrites. i think this attitude really needs to stop, because it doesn't make anyone any more better than they are, regardless if you're from a different university, or dlsu, or whatever.
coming from america, it's ridiculous to see everyone fuss over things like these. because over there no one cares what school you came from or how much money you have. what matters is what you learned and what you did with it to make yourself a better person and to get out into the world. come on, as if anyone's going to point and say "oh look at that kid from csb, or whatever school. let's not pick him/her just because he came from that kind of school" during an interview.
so quit it with all the discrimination guys. and as for anyone who's from any branch of la salle, you guys should really think about what our centennial motto means. we're supposed to be brother/sister schools, and we're supposed to be representations of equality and unity in this country, if you really want to put the la salle name up on a pedestal in this country. judging a community, like csb, as a whole rather than looking at students individually is childish and completely vice versa of what we're supposed to be, a family.

and i know i'm ranting and probably sound just as childish, but it's just so frustrating to see everyone picking sides. >___< i mean come on, we're still lasallians anyway. you guys can't blame the benildeans for feeling insulted and wanting to stand up; it hurts getting comments like these from your own brother school. can't we all just stay on equal ground? >______<

I have 2 cousins na pumapasok sa benilde at medyo tagilid talaga sila.I respect La salle, may matatalino dun kahit paano pero CSB? Sorry pero mga mayayaman na wala tlgang utak ang nandun. Eh mayaman ka naman, kung matalino ka bakit hindi ka mag-ateneo?

To the people who keep on comparing DLSU-Main to CSB, here's something to think about.

    Flawed reasoning.

Bakit, may HRIM na ba sa Ateneo?

This perception is derived from society's notion that courses like HRM, multimedia and design are far more inferior that engineering, business, or medicine.

my friends go to lasalle taft and i dont know really, hindi naman ako sosyal and my friends are not. 2 friends are in engineering division and 1 is ..international studies or something.

anyway i get the feeling its like..if youre in benilde
    1) you want to be sosyal..
2)go to a very expensive school w/ trivial courses ..(aka courses that wont really help you..its not for lawyering, computers, medicine or engineering..so parang ang labas wala kang utak for these courses. or you just are plain lazy. sa hirap ng buhay ngayon i'd rather go to a cheap college and get into computer engineering or a pre-med course rather than go to benilde and learn "fashion or textiles" or "the art of cosmetics.."
3)in short i dont think anyone can really take you seriously..might as well mag STI ka na lang..mas ok pa pakinggan..aka you cant afford to go to a nice college like ateneo to take up a computer related course but at least you have the brains, guts and willingness to get a serious degree

It is not impossible to house "left-brain" courses and "right-brain" courses under one roof, and at the same time impose the same rigid academic standards.

For example, Yale University has a theater school yet it still maintains its prestige as an Ivy League school. UST and UP similarly houses HRM, tourism, fine arts, music and film under the same university.

Housing "right brain" courses under the same university is simply a testament to students and employers that the University expresses confidence in their programs, and are willing to risk their name to prove that they can produce the same quality graduates, albeit the different nature of the course.

This is the move that DLSU failed to make, hence I cannot blame most people for looking down at CSB. They weren't willing to risk the DLSU name on these courses, it was a natural assumption for people to conclude that the school isn't confident with these courses.

Ultimately what I want is for DLSU to absorb all of CSB's courses, and impose the same admission and academic standards, although such situation seems highly unlikely.

Well, decentralizing La Salle schools and giving La Salle brothers more work doesn't justify establishing a separate institution and granting your graduates a different diploma even when they believe that graduates are as competent as DLSU Manila graduates.

They should have foreseen that this sort of discrimination would happen, and would persist.

Yun lang naman don't get me wrong I don't hate CSB grads. I know I'm in no position to judge people blindly. I just believe that it would have been better if DLSU offered these courses under the same name.

I don't see the value of this thread. It's like someone's plan to perpetrate more hate and judgment. I'm wondering if the mods just missed this one.

There's hardly any mod activity in The Academe. If you can't take the heat, then GTFO.

I'm from DLSU manila but I don't agree with you that the reason why CSB was established was because DLSU doesn't want to risk its name with the said technical "right brain" courses.

If that is correct they should have offered the same courses on both campus: e.g. HRIM for DLSU Manila and HRIM for CSB which means there will be two standards on the same course between the two campuses.

Second, CSB is DLSU- College of St. Benilde. and not just College of St. Benilde. If DLSU doesn't want to risk its image, then it shouldn't have the prefix "DLSU" to its name
