I agree with mscrookshanks. Unless you are going to use some kind of unique manufacturing technology or will incorporate a copyrighted design, stay away from manufacturing the bags. Lalampasuhin ka lang ng mga gawa sa China.

PS - I edited the title.

    Cool

you can still manufacture but don't expect to go head-on with the importers. get 5 electric sewing machines, experienced sewers and manufacture fad items like body bags, tote bags, pillow cushions, etc.

you must be a design and marketing freak, my suggestion: develop one new design every month, manufacture limited quantities that can be finance by your available working capital and accept only "kaliwaan" deals.

poor planning will do you in!!!

    Post thanks guys!

heto kasi plano ko: hire a manufacturer, sila gagawa ng bags with designs/style na gusto ko. then sell the bags. may nakausap na ako pero 100pcs per design ang minimum

bag manufacturing is a very difficult business. if you dont have connections your company wont stand a year. i knot this because we have a bag manufacturing business. believe me, if you want a business with quick returns, stay away from the bag industry.

    Post bags

    hey there!
    maraming maraming salamat sa nyo...
so paano yun, parang sinasabi mo na rin 'wag bag manufacturing?anyway, i sent you a pm, hope u reply soon.

    thanks

    Cool

say, since you're gonna be outsourcing manufacturing, you might as well be a trader. source from different manufacturers and IMPORTERS. that way, you'll keep abreast and have all bases covered.

just a caveat: we have many clients who trade imported fad items. we closely monitor their inventory stocks. if you sell poorly and end up with a whole lot of "laos" items, you're gone.

If you will manufacture bags you will incur the following fixed expenses:

    1. Raw Materials
    2. Direct Labor
    3. Factory Overhead

Aside you will also put a provision for spoilages.

I am just referring here the monthly expenses that you will incur. You will have to procure machineries to manufacture your porducts.

Now, I would prefer the trading of your products, if you will be able to find someone who agrees to sell their bags on consignment, then that is much better. At least you don't have to sell all the bags. It will cost you nothing and of course earn.

Diwata, please prepare the 4 p"s of marketing for your analysis:

    1. Product - Determine the product life's cycle
    2. Place- Where will you sell the product
    3. Price- How much you will sell them? Are your prices reasonable?
    4. Promotion- How will you promote the product to your target market?

    Good luck!

Bags are also seasonal in nature, come to think of it. So that's another factor you have to consider before venturing into such a business.

    Promotion is easy.

Just cultivate different contacts in the magazines here. Call them, meet with them, show them samples of your bags. If they're good, they publish them in their magazines. Just make sure that they publish your contact numbers along with the bags.

Several new bag manufacturers have been featured in the Summit magazines. Free advertising yun! Plus, nagkaroon pa sila ng captive market because the Summit people are mostly fashionistas. As long as the bags are cute and fairly priced (read: does not mean cheap, just that the price is commensurate to quality), sold out kaagad. Even I have bought a bag from one of the manufacturers.

Just keep in mind though that most magazines work on issues two months before publication date. So if you're gonna launch say, March, be sure you have samples by December at the latest.

That's one way of promoting bags. There are a lot of others. Pretty cheap ways too if you know how.
