The Rock gives much respect to Randall cunningham after everything that's happened to him in his career. Randy Moss proved all those teams who didn't pick him in last year's draft wrong by providing one of the most sensational rookie seasons in decades. Cris Carter and Robert Smith are as consistent as ever in their positions but The Rock agrees that Billick moving to the Ravens is a blow to their wide open offensive style.

The Rock is here to announce that the National Football League opened its season today. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers were involved in lopsided wins over the San Francisco 49ers and the resurrected Cleveland Browns. The Chicago Bears whooped the Kansas City chiefs 20-17, while the Dallas Cowboys overcame a 21 point deficit in the 4th quarter to beat the Washington Redskins in overtime 41-35. So who do you jabronis think will go to the Superbowl and win it all this year? Will the Broncos survive without Elway? How about the young, offensive minded Vikings or the surprising dirty birds: the Atlanta Falcons?

Speaking of Randy Moss and his incredible rookie season, it's amazing to note that he was the high school hoops teammate of an NBA player who also experienced an incredible rookie season - Jason Williams. Both expereinced off-court / off-field problems, but look where they are now!

Personally, I like the Vikes to win it all. I took a lot of heat from friends when I rooted for Randall Cunningham and his Philly Eagles in the early 90s, and his resurgence last season with Minnesota was payback at its finest form. The offensive weapons are still intact : Cunningham, Moss, Carter, Reed and Smith, but offensive coordinator Billick is gone. It seems that the full throttle, air it out offense went away with him as the Vikes scored a measly 17 points in Week 1. Hope they realize that they have to unleash their weapons to be succesful as they lost a lot of defensive starters. This is year is as good a chance as any: the Broncos have a greenhorn starting at QB, the Niners seem to be faltering with age and no running attack, and the Falcons seem like one-hit wonders. May the Purple Reign!

The Bears were up 20-3 at halftime. Good thing they didn't choke. I'm glad Wandstedt (I don't even know how to spell his name!) got the boot!

Even Cade McNown got to play! Go Bears!

    Peace.

I had high hopes for the Jets this year but the injury to Testaverde will seriously compromise their hopes of landing in the superbowl. Then again, last year, Vinny started as the back-up and eventually led them far into the playoffs. I hope Rick Mirer can do the same (though I'm not too confident).

The Jaguars look phenomenal. I think the two favorites based on the first weekend would have to be Jacksonville and Minnesota. Let's wait and see as the season has just begun!

Oh yeah! Are you ready for some football? Praise the TV gods for bringing back football to ESPN. I really hate what happened last year when Studio 23 got exclusive rights to air the NFL games. Their coverag sucked like anything and im just happy to have "he could go all the way" back into my television. im still not sure whos the favorite this season but im still very much a fan of the Pack. Can anyone say "from the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field"?

Does anyone think it's Marino's year? The Dolphins' rushers were incompetent last season but it looks like they've filled up on running backs this year which just might finally complement Marino's passing game.

The Rock says that Kaboom!, let's pray for Da Bears man. The Rock told you sometime back that former Jacksonville offensive coordinator **** Jauron was taking over Wannstedt's job, so far, he's done the right thing by letting another QB start (The Rock forgot his name) instead of McNown. Although Mc Nown did play one series. God knows that the city of Chicago needs help these days.

Harley quinn, for your sake, The Rock hopes that the win over the Broncos wasn't a fluke of the rushing in one game for Miami. Jimmy Johnson knows that their running game is what's keepig the Dolphins from making it to the next round of the playoffs so he spent three draft picks this year on RBs, he better get it done like he did in Dallas soon.

The Pack is still solid, but they lost a receiver and a defensive stopper when Robert Brooks and Reggie white retired before the season began. Since The Rock's relatives are in Chicago, The Rock hates the Packers' guts but this only pertains to football, walang personalan ha.

Yes, Randy Moss was a high school basketball teammate of White Chocolate Jason Williams. See, Moss' height not only allowed him to catch balls easier, it also allowed him to slam dunk the basketball. Unfortunately, both Moss and Williams came across substance abuse programs in college. Moss went to Marshall while JW went to Florida. a lost of NBA and NFL teams passed on them in their respective drafts. Their stellar rookie seasons put those doubters to rest. Here's hoping that they stay clean and continue to provide entertainment for the fans of both leagues. If you smell-l-l-l what The Rock is cookin'!

Vinny's blown his achilles. The Buffalo offense stinks. The Pats may be 2-0 but Pete Carroll didn't coach a winner in his stint as Jets head coach and he hasn't been able to do so in Foxboro. What does this all mean? Miami has a clear lane to the AFC East title, and first real shot to reach the Super Bowl in nine years. How good are they? Scary good. Did you see them mop the floor with the Broncos on opening Monday night? In Mile High? Against a 3 TD, o INT game from Griese? This team is for real. Too bad. I'm a Bill's fan.

The Vikings? Well they were probably the best team in the NFL last year who just happened to have a bad day in the championship game against the Falcons. But frankly, I don't like them because I don't like dome teams at all. Before last year, when two dome teams, the Falcons and Vikes met in the NFC championship game, only one dome team had ever made it that far in the playoffs; the 1990 Detroit Lions. They got creamed by eventual champs Washington 41-10. Playing in a dome is a liability when you have to play tough road games on grass in cold weather. It becomes hard for the players to adjust to these tough conditions. That's why they've done so poorly over the years. And besides, Randall Cunningham is ancient. He's good, but you just know he'll get banged up.

And yes Zen Master, I can say "from the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field".

I know it's only the the third, going on to the fourth week of the season, but the early favorites sure aren't looking too hot!

The Vikings are definitely not as sharp as they looked last year. They look confused out there!! Some reports speculate it's due to the loss of Randall's quarterback coach.

The Falcons are playing like last year was only a fluke! To top it all off, of course, Jamal Anderson is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate. Out for the season! Guess we won't see them in the Superbowl this year.

The Broncos haven't won a single game and it sure doesn't look like Griese will take them far. And Shanahan is sticking with him!! Says he's happy with him! Let's see him eat his words if the Broncos end up with the Eagles at the bottom of the pack. I say let Bubby play!

The early fav Jags lost to Tennesse last week but their running back was sidelined last week because of some injury. They're expected to perform better this week with him back but it sounds like they haven't done too well either at Three Rivers.

The Packers are looking good because of good, ol' Favre. Of course, one can't help wondering how long he can keep the comebacks coming. Goes to show only too clearly how a good quarterback is so essential to win. The Patriots are off to a 3-0 start; they also look pretty good. The Colts are surprising a lot of people so far, not only their fans.

What say you, will the Vikes still win it all?

The Rock says that last year's NFL final four (Broncos, Jets, Falcons, and Vikings) are entering week 4 with a combined 1-11 win loss record. Although not impossible, the chances of any of them entering the playoffs are getting dimmer. Remember, it's only 16 games per team.

So as of Week 3, the contenders are: NFC West- St. Louis and San Francisco, NFC Central- Green Bay and Tampa Bay (cool, Bay of Pigs battle once more!), NFC East- Dallas and Washington (50 pts. by the Skins vs. the Giants), AFC West- Seattle, Oakland, and Kansas City, AFC Central- Tennessee, AFC East- Miami and Buffalo (who will face each other on Monday Night Football this week).

The surprises are obviously the Titans, Rams, Seahawks, Chiefs, and Buccaneers. But then, it's still very early in the season! If you smell what The Rock is cookin!
