    I was diagosed with this recently. I burp alot as in even like 4 hours after eating, I still burp. I just dismissed it cause I don't burp loudly naman then I went to a doctor cause I feel like there's a lump in my throat that wouldn't go away (parang may phlegm). I thought I had colds and I needed decongestant. Anyway, she put a telescope down my throat and she said I had reflux.

    I'm now on omeprazole and my burping stop and little nalang yon parang phlegm feeling. Dami lang bawal na food.

    Will this go away permanently?

    The symptoms of GERD can be controlled with proper diet, lifestyle modifications, and medications. It just takes time and varies with each patient.

    Red face Heartburn Alert! (any doctors here?)

    And may nabasa ako na one of its causes daw ay paghiga agad after kumain (guilty ako dito )

    So heartburn nga ba ito? Ano kayang puwedeng solusyon dito? Effective ba ang antacids, or anything basic para ma-neutralize ang acid na umakyat daw sa esophagus, like milk? baking soda? Mas masisiyahan ako kung mayroong doctors or anyone who's in the medical field na magbibigay ng feedback dito. Pero kung wala ok lang din. Thanks!

  9. #89
    Yeah, I think that is heartburn. My uncle has that too and you both have the same case. I don't think he's going on a medication though... From what I know, he just started to eat less, especially rice.

So kung nagpapalipas ka ng gutom, kinakain ng acid yung lining leading up to your esophagus, resulting to heartburn.

    Again, i-rule out mo muna na wala kang sakit sa puso. Mahirap manghula ng symptoms.

    Arrow

    Hello!

    I've read through the thread and did my little own research to see if I have GERD.

    For the past month, I think my food intake increased and composed mostly of FAST FOOD because of my line of work (always on the go, odd hours)

    Just last week (may 16), I started burping unintentionally. I can usually burp on my own and put on a good show. So I felt the difference when I started burping every 5 minutes. Saturday (may 17) my burping felt like I was slightly throwing up.

    Sunday (may 18) I felt throughout the day, especially after eating, that I wanted to throw up, and it left this bitter acidic taste at the back of my throat.

    Now (may 19) I have a bitter throat, feels warm and a bit sore. I've been brushing my teeth, I drank milk, trying to get rid of the acidic taste, and have not been able to eat today.

    Here's what I found online "SYMPTOMS": (x) means none and (o) means yes

    (x) Heartburn.

    * After a heavy meal.
    * Bending over.
    * Lifting.
    * Lying down, particularly on the back.

    (x) Dyspepsia. Up to half of GERD patients have dyspepsia, a syndrome consisting of the following:

    * Pain and discomfort in the upper abdomen.
    * Fullness in the stomach. - This one just a bit
    * Nausea after eating.

    (o) Regurgitation. Regurgitation is the feeling of acid backing up in the throat. Sometimes acid regurgitates as far as the mouth and be experienced as a "wet burp." Uncommonly, it may come out forcefully as vomit.

    Less Common Symptoms

    (x) Chest Sensations or Pain. Patients may have the sensation that food is trapped behind the breastbone. Chest pain is a common symptom of GERD. It is very important to differentiate it from chest pain caused by heart conditions, such as angina and heart attack.

    Symptoms in the Throat. Less commonly, GERD may produce symptoms that occur in the throat:

    (o) * Acid laryngitis. A condition that includes hoarseness, dry cough, the sensation of having a lump in the throat, and the need to repeatedly clear the throat. I feel a slight lump or something bothering me.
    * Trouble swallowing (dysphagia). In severe cases, patients may even choke or food may become trapped in the esophagus, causing severe chest pain. This may indicate a temporary spasm that narrows the tube, or it could also be an indication of serious esophageal damage or abnormalities.
    * Chronic sore throat.
    (o) * Persistent hiccups. I had the hiccups yesterday

    (x) Coughing and Respiratory Symptoms. Asthmatic symptoms like coughing and wheezing may occur. In fact, in one study, GERD alone accounted for 41.1% of cases of chronic cough in nonsmoking patients. The incidence was even higher when GERD and asthma were combined.

    (x) Chronic Nausea and Vomiting. Nausea that persists for weeks or even months and is not attributable to a common cause of stomach upset may be a symptom of acid reflux. In rare cases, vomiting can occur as often as once a day. All other causes of chronic nausea and vomiting should be ruled out, including ulcers, stomach cancer, obstruction, and pancreas or gallbladder disorders.

    What do you think doc? Should I see a doctor already?

    Should I drink plenty of fluids? warm meals? medicine?

    thank you so much.

    hi! i was diagnosed recently. I had this parang phlegm na ka stuck sa throat ko. I went to an ENT kasi nga I was complaining about my throat and she said I had acid reflux. She has this scope which she placed inside my throat. Anyway, I was given acifre for 2 weeks, nawala naman but i had a bad cold and had an infection so i went off the meds. Now, my colds are gone but I have the lump feeling in my throat again, so I guess the reflux is still there.

    I want an alternative route to this disease, just need to research on it. it's so frustrating.

    Hi again,

    last night I found out my boyfriends mom has the same thing so she gave me Nexium 20mg tablet to relieve the irritation. It's working but she told me that I have to watch what I eat, and I can only really drink water now.

    I got a terrible cold but the bitter sour taste in the throat is gone...

    Gerd

    Guys,

    Do you have any recommended doctor for this? I dont know exactly what I 'am going through. Its like an acid reverts back to my throat and its irritating. This happens everytime I finished meals. Before, I had an ulcer,maybe 4 years ago. I just prescribed ULCEPRAZ for a week then it went ok. Then just this month I experienced something is blocking my throat.

    Please advise a doctor.
    Thanks

    I was diagnosed as having GERD. I researched the net that Magnesium Citrate can relieve the symptoms. I've been taking Magnesium for about a year now and its totally gone. I can lie down flat without any problems at all. I stopped drinking coffee, tea, softdrinks, milk, anything acidic.

    Saw all your posts
    yup GERD is very common. Its one of the leading causes of loss of productivity in the workplace.
    The previous posts are right, lifestyle modifications might help but the drug of choice is still a proton pump inhibitor which most of you took.
    It blocks production of acid in the stomach and helps heal erosions caused by acid injury to your stomach and intestines.

    However, you need an endoscopy if:

    You have abdominal pain and you are above 45.
    You are younger than 45 but have noticed weight loss, incessant vomiting, bleeding, or difficulty swallowing.

    See a gastroenterologist if you meet the criteria above or still have problems despite medications.

    If you live in Manila, I can recommend a GI doctor from UP-PGH or Manila Doctors. Dr. Mark De Lusong or Sandy Cabral.

    last weekend i had a colonoscopy and endoscopy. i was sedated for these two procedures. When i came out of the clinic, i was sleepy and my head kinda feels heavy. About 2 hours later, i had a fever, 38.5 - 39 degrees, which ran for another day. My question is, is it normal to develop fever after proceedures such as colonoscopy/ endoscopy?

    If you had polypectomy together with your colonoscopy, it may be related. I guess youre ok by now but if you still feel symptoms like abdominal pain or fever, you should go back to your gastroenterologist.
