Post Baguio - The best places to stay and visit

I haven't been to Baguio for a long time now so I practically have no idea how Baguio looks nowadays. And since I plan on spending a couple of days R&R there soon, I was wondering...what are the best places to stay and visit there to make my vacation thoroughly enjoyable?

The comfy little inn along Military Cut-off Road that we stayed at last year is at the tip of my tongue right now, but when it does get to the tip of my fingers, I'll post again.

In the meantime, you might want to ask the Baguio Pips at Filipinos Everywhere.

Only two places I can think of to stay at:
    • Baguio Country Club. Try their raisin bread. Try their raisin bread.
    • The new John Hay - don't know if it's public or exclusively private, though
    To visit:
    • Baguio Public Market - where you can get the cheapest & freshest vegetables (look for the place called the 'hangar'), and souvenir items (sweaters, blankets, trinkets, silver jewelry).
    • Mine's View Park - yeah, not much of a view now, but still a requisite tourist spot. They have a 'mini-market' that at times, carries items for cheaper than at the public market.
    • PMA - open to the public almost everyday. Try to go there Sunday (sometimes Saturday) mornings for the weekly pasa-masid or 'passing review' parade.
    • Ibay's Silver Shop (in front of University of Baguio) - world-class silver jewelry (they have pieces that can rival Tiffany's) at really cheap prices. Guaranteed 95% sterling silver. Ibay's has a branch at Mine's View, BTW.
    • Good Sheperd Convent (on the way back from Mine's View) - buy / bring home as much strawberry jam / jelly and peanut brittle as they'll let you. You'll have to find out what time they 'release' the jams & brittle, though -- nauubos agad!
    • Ukay-ukay - there's enough of them to lose track of where, the most accessible one being at an old hotel, near the market & Burnham Park (I forget the name of the hotel). Second-hand, branded items for as low as P50-P200.
    • Burham Park - of course.
    • The botanical gardens / flower market at Burnham - like Sonya's Garden in Tagaytay, minus the resto.
    • Mansion House & Wright Park - horseback riding, if that's your gig.
Café by the Ruins is an interesting resto. Try the spicy bangus, and the fish-roe on their home-baked pan-de-sal.

Si oui-oui taga Baguio din daw.

Ionic Cafe for the crispiest fries ever!

Kung gusto mo ng hotel na nasa Session Road para malapit sa lahat, try that one beside Jollibee. I forget the name, but it's right there. A little bit pricey though.

Is the Baguio Country Club open to the public already? I thought it was a members-only club?

I remember Cafe by the Ruins. This is near the City Hall right? Me and my friends got drunk on tapuy (did I spell that right?) a long, long time ago at Cafe...

raven23: Where's the University of Baguio by the way? I wanna check out their silver jewelries.

p3nguin: Of all the places that you mentioned, which one is nearer Burnham Park? Would you happen to know the rates of these hotels? And where exactly is Villa Romana and Villa Rosal? And where's Ionic Cafe? Am I asking you too many questions?

psychic_psycho: 8 to 10 hours na ang traffic to Baguio?! Holy sh!t!!!

I've been travelling to & from Baguio a whole lot for the past three months because we have a family business there & I hear from friends that if you're travelling via Victory Liner & you're coming from their Pasay Terminal, it'll take you seven hours to get there. That includes two 20-minute stop-overs in Tarlac & La Union.

    Bon voyage!

if u want to look for good silver jewelries try Ibay's Silver shop near burnham park...the nearest hotel in burnham is Golden Pine. I researched for u and the lowest rate was 850 per day..it's a good hotel though...when are you going here ba so i can guide u thru ur different quests?...
