    ITAMAAW na daw!

    From BULGAR

Variety talaga, and as much as possible, 'yung team na mabubuo ng bawat isa sa amin ay total package kumbaga, biritera man 'yan o effortless o rocker.

Yehey!!!

Wow new house na pala! Busy sa twiturr (Laida mode)

Congrats to our bebe! Non stop ang blessings! She's really happy and it shows kasi she's glowing!

I can't wait for The Voice especially now na nakabasa ako ng good feedback from those who watched the blind auditions sa studio. Those judgemental people who knows nothing kundi pangunahan ang gagawin ni Sarah as coach lalo na yung nag question sa pagiging coach nya..ngumanga kayo pagdating ng June! The reason I am a big fan of the Popstar is because I believe in her talent and judgements, and that she doesn't settle for mediocrity.

The Anatomy of Sarah Geronimo: A highly opinionated review of a distant follower

    ctto

Destiny dispensed. The tale began with the familiar story of a talented but poor lass who has tried and failed many times to fulfill her dreams of being a songstress. I think it really was her destiny to be rejected many times in the past, and when even her own heart is failing her, she gave it one more try and did it. I think this history is the reason behind her perennially very loaded schedule.
I have not followed any other celebrity before, but what I can say for SG is this, she has the most activity-laden first 10 years in the industry, the term “nagkandakuba-kuba” is no overstatement. How she did her 10 years is mind-shattering, her co-actors Judy Ann Santos and John Lloyd Cruz, among others, couldn’t help but comment “ang buhay hindi lang concerts, hindi lang mall shows…” and “know your priorities…” But SG is always unyielding, as if she will lose steam if she lets a season’s rest go by on her. Although a superstar in her own right, her career path is always reminiscent of one who has just hit the limelight (strike-while-the-iron-is-hot doctrine).

What drives her? We know that Michael Jackson, who was an entertainment genius, inspired her to perform the way she does. In my opinion, it was not only the singing-and-dancing that he begot in her. Sarah loves the spotlight, but there is more to it. As I see it, she loves to be the center of the attention; she loves to affect people, she loves to drive her audience emotional. She mentioned in an interview regarding her inspiration MJ’s concerts “…yung mga tao, umiiyak na…
In a separate interview, asked if she could exchange her life for another’s for one day, who would it be and why – she named pop icon Justin Bieber. Why? Because she wants to experience how it would feel to be the center of everybody’s attention. She was at the height of 24/SG’s success at the time.
It seems to me like she is driven by an innate force to be the center of fascination, the focus of delight. It is what ultimately satisfies her, I think, the reason why she performs the way she does. The baseline Sarah is a fine-kept and humble lady, but Sarah on the stage is a powerfully driven woman playing out her destiny to affect, to fascinate, very effectively.

Undeniable charisma. She has the innate magnetism that draws people, particularly her audience, to her. This is the observation of her co-workers and everyone around her. In ASAP, this becomes very evident. Everytime she comes out on stage, the atmosphere changes. For us televiewers, the transmission signal changes. Somehow, this young soul is gifted with an extra serving of stage presence.
Her charisma could be the multifactorial product of her strange family name, her bubbly attitude, her very Filipina looks, her highly publicized ideal daughterhood, her stand-out Maria Clara conservativism, her awesome performances, et cetera, et cetera. I can list but I doubt I can exhaust the reasons why she is a rare star even by showbiz standards.

Unnerving humility. Obviously, she does not know that she IS there. She is consistent with her interviews and acceptance speeches that she just got lucky to have been the first discovery of a long line of talented singers. Sometimes she adds there are better singers and performers in the land but she is just again, lucky, to be in the position that she is in now. She even admitted once that she is her own worst critic. She is too much of a perfectionist it becomes unhealthy at times. She does not keep to heart the superfluous praises of fans, friends, and co-workers alike. She is innately resolute not to entertain the superstar attitude.
At some point she is correct, but ultimately, what makes her very endearing is that she has this kind of humility, a real diamond in the rough at the outset. Notice the behavioral changes of other celebrities who had hit the mother lode, they react differently, they behave differently than when they were still smaller. (I refuse to name names.) And that makes Sarah’s humility puzzling to onlookers, celebrities and non-celebrities alike.
Whether by her own effort or her family’s I know not, but she managed to keep grounded in spite of the sky-high status. And that, for me, and I know I speak for millions more, is very, very praiseworthy.

The toll. Like all outstanding figures, Sarah has major setbacks – the price she has to pay. The most widely publicized is the loveless-ness drama. All her contemporaries don’t have this problem. It is unique to her person. She’s almost 25 and she can honestly say that she has not found the love of her life. But what makes her story more exciting than other celebrities who decided to wait for true love, is this part of her is highlighted. I don’t know why, but it seems Sarah herself is way too eager to find her man-love. She is too successful career-wise it is hard to believe she is as unsuccessful in her romantic life.
I think the issue last year warrants a comment.
When Sarah decided to obey her parents, I think that was one decision I am proudest of her. She let her heart ripped off, but I know it is for the better. Many say she is a big coward for not “carving her own happy ending”. Some say she is very immature, she has no backbone, she is not a good role model to the youth, and some fans declared to follow no more because she is not worth emulating. She has to brave those nasty words against her and nastier words against her parents in general, and her mother in particular.
I know she believes in God, so it must not have escaped her that the only commandment that has a promised blessing in the Old Testament’s 10 Commandments is the fourth, which states that if we honor our parents, our lives will be long in the land (Exodus 20). And the problem with the word of God is that whether we believe it or not, whether Sarah knew it all along or not, God’s word will always stand for itself, and the universe will always operate according to its dictates.
As of this writing, a year after that incident, Sarah is still on top of her game, higher than where she had been the previous year. Her latest movie is wrecking the records single-handedly. She managed nominations in world awards even without international exposure. As for the other character in that unfortunate what-if-love-affair, it seems like Sarah’s mother is vindicated for protecting Sarah, the whole incident shows that the word of God is still true today, and that mothers know best.

Monster artist. What I realize watching Sarah’s old and new performances, is that Sarah is a monster artist. I remember that robotic nemesis in the Pixar movie The Incredibles, that can learn and reprogram from the fighting styles of anyone it encountered. Sarah is exactly like that. Good or bad, some critics even call her “the great mimic” because of this.
Belting. It seemed like she has this extraordinary ability to mold her resources into something very spectacular. I was actually surprised upon learning that she was not originally a belter (biritera), she just learned to belt high notes upon seeing that belting is the latest trend in the local pop music scene. Then she became one of the pillars of the champions. Rachelle Ann Go and Sheryn Regis are really good belters, I think among the three female champs Sarah has the most immature singing technique, especially when she belts. Nevertheless, she shone the brightest during the era of belters, although not without a pack of nay-sayers hounding behind.
Dancing. She used to mimic MJ’s dance steps. But when she started, she showed no promise, at least for me. Her moves in the music video to the song Sa Iyo in her debut album is forgettable, it makes one think she’s just another “trying-hard” dancer from the block.
I think it began with The Other Side concert, which was brought to the Sunday variety show she appears in. And we saw, she is improving. And her improvement is well-documented on videos, from her sweaty but applaudable performance of Lip Gloss, to eye-popping grooves in Dangerous, Put It In A Love Song, Remember The Time, among others.
The next thing we know, the transformation is complete. She has revved up in the popstar race in full throttle. She dances and performs so well that she complements the dance group G-Force in a way that leaves her viewers awestruck and eager for more.
But a monster artist is always dangerous. For one, they cannot be accurately estimated. Same goes with Sarah. We thought she is just a singer, and a legitimate one at that. Then she became a dancer, and she looks so cool on the dancefloor too. But soon she was launched as an actress in a movie in 2008, and it started a cascade of film successes that catapulted Sarah to a place in Philippine show business that only the legends have ever savored.
Still, the most part of her artistry remains a mystery. Given her uncanny attitude towards her craft, to judge her future by her present is unfair. She has reached superstar status (IMO) while being yet immature, emotionally and psycho-sexually. No, in all her superstar years, she has not divulged nor exhausted the full potential of her artistry, largely because of her immaturity. When the time is ripe, I am hoping we can see the fullness of the Sarah Geronimo. And I know for sure that that would really be worth the wait, albeit troubling to some. Will she reach international stardom when the time is ripe? I have no idea.#
