    Movies for the Lenten Season

    i don't mean to be preachy but if there are movies themed for Christmas and Halloween, surely there would be movies fit for "pagtitika"

    i found a nice list here

    50 Best Catholic Films of All Time

    it would be unfair to focus only on the Catholics though since other sects of the Christian faith observe the Lenten season too (some, not all). so it would be nice to pile up a nice database for us through this thread of good films to watch for the season

    (disclaimer: i haven't seen all movies in the list but i don't get it much why Schindler's List had to be there since i don't want nudity on the flicks that i watch during the Holy Week, preferably not on Good Friday)

    =====================

    these are given though ...

    The 10 Commandments

    The Passion of the Christ

    The Greatest Story Ever Told

    [a.k.a. sanitized version of Christ's death]

    Mary of Nazareth

    Prince of Egypt

    [okay sana kaso they deviated too much from the Biblical accounts]

    Joan of Arc

    for non-Catholics (and non-Christians as well)

    The Stoning of Soraya M

    (the punishment may have been based on Islamic laws but the stoning aspect is familiar to Lenten observers)

    the classic religion vs science is tackled here and it reminded me of my teacher = "Some things just don't have an explanation"

    ==============

    doctors said it was epilepsy, the priest said it was demonic possession. another science vs religion conundrum that i don't mind seeing on film
