    PBA Commissioner's cup Bracket

    Bracket A

    Talk n Text
    Alaska
    Meralco
    Air21
    Barako

    Bracket B

    Gsm
    Smcm
    Petron
    Ros
    Global

Based sa rankings nila yan last conf...

    Group 1: 1st (tnt), 4th (ala), 5th (mer), 8th (air), 9th (bar)
    Group 2: 2nd (ros), 3rd (smc), 6th (gsm), 7th (pet), 10th (glo)

Teams play their groupmates once and the other group twice for a total of 14 games each

^ Based sa Rankings?!? bat ganyan?!? parang di mo alam kung papaano na-group ni-rumble ng sadya ang alam ko last AFC cup yung Bracket nun ang base sa rankings talaga, w/c was explained, pero yung bracket ngayon kung titingnan mo halata naman na pinaghiwalay ang MVP at SMC Teams, since last AFC kabracket ng SMCTeams ang Meralco w/c was a disadvantage for the MVP Teams ngayon pinagsama na talaga...

That has always been the rule, Noctizs. Dating back from the 80's when bracketing was being done. The basis for the groupings are from the results of the previous conference, or if it's the first conference, the results of the previous season.

Note that this wasn't even the original format of the Commissioner's Cup. The previous format was a single round robin, with the bottom two getting eliminated. When the PBA decided to move the schedule to accommodate the national team, the intra-inter bracketing system had to be put up because of the extended 2nd Conference.

eto rankings nila nun 1st conf:

    1 - TNT
    2 - ROS
    3 - SMC
    4 - AM
    5 - MER
    6 - GSM
    7 - PET
    8 - AIR
    9 - BAR
    10 - GLO

    tama ba?

    1 2
    4 3
    5 6
    8 7
    9 10

kung naglalaro ka ng fantasy sports, alam mo na ganyan ang pag-draft...if not, its hard to explain to you...

  6. #6

The placings are correct, BT. The Top 2 are reserved for the two teams that appeared in the Finals. The next 2 are those that competed in the SF. Whoever has the best win-loss record in the eliminations get the higher seeding. SMC ended up with a 10-4 card, Alaska had a 8-6 record.

The next 4 are the teams that cracked the QF round. Their seedings are determined by their elimination record. Meralco ended up with 8-6 to get 5th, Ginebra was at 7-7 for 6th, Petron wound up 7th with a 6-8 card while Air 21 was 8th with a 5-9 record. The last two are the teams that got eliminated. Barako Energy had a 4-10 card for 9th while Global wound up at the cellar with a 1-13 record to claim 10th place.

But I don't do fantasy games, BT?

^ well what i'm saying is that ang alam ko last AFC ay ginawang Odd-Even ang placing ang pag-bracket, why would they change it to a snake-style like you are saying wala akong sinasabing conspiracy pero kung talagang nag-istick sila with placings sa bracket, bakit di nila gamitin ulit yung odd-even placings? that will put 2SMC Teams and 2MVPTeams together, so why change it to a more complicated snake-style placing that u r talking about and sorry hindi ako naglalaro ng fantasy sports, kasi gusto ko 22o

I don't know, nor recall of the odd-even placings before, Noctizs. But you may be right.

What I do know is that the odd-even ranking isn't "fair" in the sense that the bracket that has 1-3-5-7-9 is arguably stronger than the 2-4-6-8-10. Which is probably why I don't recall this format to have been used.

The 1-4-5-8-9 and 2-3-6-7-10 is actually the most logical format. You can see the balance by adding up the numbers. The sum of all numbers from 1 to 10 is 55, meaning the halfway point is 27.5. Bracket 1 totals 27 points while Bracket 2 has 28. There's no way for both brackets to be equal here.

Hindi odd-even yun AFC... Check the rankings again...

Noctizs, di ka namin lolokohin ni JPM, wala naman kami mapapala eh...kung ayaw mo maniwala, we're not forcing you...

But that bracketing system has been implemented FOR YEARS now...

    Last season:

    1 tnt
    2 smc
    3 gsm
    4 ros
    5 pow/glo
    6 pet
    7 mer
    8 bar
    9 ala
    10 air

    Groupings were:

Group 1: tnt, Ros, pow, bar, ala
Group 2: smc, gin, pet, mer, air

  11. #11
With those rankings, pano naging odd-even yan? Di naman traffic yan eh

ewan ko , i don't know, maybe i was not remembering things right dun sa pagkabasa ko about the bracket into what mangonon had said in his twitter long ago bago magsimula yung AFC cup, btw naniniwala naman ako sayo sir JPM, dun lang ako sa pagkakabracket ngayon parang nagtataka para kasing tailor-made with the MVP & SMC Teams evenly separated

  13. #13

    You're just being too paranoid
