i'm currently reading The Hobbit (3rd for this year). I finished my goal of 50 last year but got too lazy to post in the thread. I'm pushing for 75 this 2013!

While I understand the purpose of the review and complied to doing it last year, some Pexers are not agreeable to this and find this an additional challenge to the challenge.

Anyway, I suggest that we put up several threads for this, one each indicating a milestone:

2013 Book Challenge Books 1-10
2013 Book Challenge Books 11-20
2013 Book Challenge Books 21-30
etc.

...for easier reference to the coordinators.

I quite don't get it what do you mean by several threads? You mean, another thread outside the 2013 Book Challenge thread?

Actually the six-sentence review will be a basis for the challenge coordinator/s that you actually read the book. Because anyone can just come here and post/say, "Oh I read this book!", of course he/she could be just fooling him/herself, so that, six-sentence review is our very least proof that he/she actually read the book/s.

Let's wait for other's inputs.

(Now, I think this is really interesting, unfortunately it didn’t happen last year, so let’s push for this by the end of the year y’all!)

ako rin, nito ko na lang siya napansin nung nire-review ko yung guidelines, maganda sana siya since last year we saw GMTV Awards via LMTV Thread; and this year: Kapamilya Awards via LMTV; and the forthcoming UP C&RT Awards via Personal & Chit Chat thread so maganda sana itong addition kung natuloy.

Pwede ang graphic novels however serialized mangas or comics shall be listed as volumes and not by chapters (eg. Naruto Vol 1: Chapter 1-22; Naruto Vol. 2 Chapter 23-40 and so on)

Blog; journal entries; magazines; newspapers aren't included.

Pwede magshare? Recently (a few months ago) lang I've rediscovered my love for reading. I write for a living, which while very rewarding, is also... shall I say, taxing, that I could not get into the mood to read anymore. Anyhow, I've had a lot of free time since last quarter of 2012 and been reading a lot. Ngayon naadik na ako ulit.

Since the beginning of Jan I've finished three books (all e-books):
1. Unholy Night by Seth Grahame Smith
2. Life of Pi by Yann Martel
3. A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle

Ebook ng Les Miserables ang binabasa ko ngayon (gusto ko basahin bago panoorin yung movie) so for sure matatagalan ako tapusin. I think I have around 50 ebooks I haven't read yet.

If I get to read 4 books a month that's 48 books in a year, so kaya yung 50 kung hindi ako maging busy masyado.

Thank you for the heads up, hethler. Will try to push for 50 books this year and although I have a hard time writing reviews, I think this year I better try my hand on writing reviews.

I'm almost done with The Two Towers so I might be posting my review this weekend.

Since I want equal number of books per month, I'll make it 5 books/month. Sana lang magawa ko para 60 books sa 2013.

from last year pa yung mga rules na yun, and hethler reposted it here.

as far as i can remember, the review should be:
- at least 6 sentences
- no spoilers (if you are posting 'spoilers', you must 'hide' it.)
- (and i think dito na pumapasok yung genre) kanino mo ire-recommend yung book (optional?)
- (i think optional din ito) 'language' nung review (pag english yung book, english yung review).

Hi guys!

I revisited the 2012 Book Challenge Official Guidelines and I think it still applies for this year’s challenge. Few tweaks and comments though (based na rin sa feedback ng iba).

1. Since pinoy2781 were able to finish 40 books last year, why don’t we make it a “50 Book Challenge” this year?
2. I concur that there’ll be at least 2 challenge coordinators should we all agree to keep one.
3. RE: Six-sentence review – I believe we should retain this and it should be MANDATORY. As pointed out on the original guidelines, it’s good to give your fellow participants an idea what the book is all about.
4. RE: Pin farming – It doesn’t matter at all and I don’t see a problem with that as long as you don’t break any rules. Who knows if one might actually turn into a book worm because of his/her “pin farming” experience thru Book Challenge.
5. RE: Making list – agree with yakibuke; let’s try this new format and make posting of images optional (though better if there’s an accompanying image)

• 1/50-2/50-3/50 (and so on)
• Title:
• Genre: (will discuss the purpose of this on the latter part of this post)
• Author:
• No. of pages:
• Rating:
• Image: (optional?)
• Review:

Note that I removed the timeframe. As long as pasok sa year 2013 timeframe natin.

6. If we all agree with “50 Books” to finish, then the milestones should be the following:

• 5 Books – Challengers’ pin
• 10 Books – “I read 10 Books” pin
• 20 Books – “I read 20 Books” pin
• 30 Books - "I read 30 Books" pin
• 40 Books – "I read 40 Books" pin
• 50 Books - “I completed the 2013 Book Challenge” pin

And apart from the “I completed the 2013 Book Challenge” pin; those challenger/s that were able to finish 50 books (or more) will be awarded AN EXCLUSIVE “Book Worm Pin” (I think he/she earned this pin!)

6. Part of the old “General Guidelines”
The Challenge coordinator/s shall go over your list. They will determine who has legitimately reached particular milestones.

Should the challenge coordinator/s need to take some time off the boards, the challenge coordinator/s will assign his responsibilities to one of the administrators of the PinoyExchange forum. Announcement will be made should this happen.

7. Part of the old “How Do We Make Our List?”
Interested PExer can either send a Private Message to the challenge coordinator/s or by expressing their intent on the official 2013 Book Challenge Thread

8. Part of the old “FAQ’s”
If I have read 50 books and I have completed the challenge, should I still continue with my list?
Yes. Surprises are in store for those who opted to take the extra mile. (Will discuss with Nakura since I’m not familiar with the old arrangement)

Aside from the pins, would there be other prizes and if so, how will the winner be determined?
I don’t want to use the word ‘prizes’ to describe the incentives of this challenge because this is not a competition, this is a personal challenge; However as the challenge rolls there will be surprises in store. Prizes may come from me or PinoyExchange. (Will discuss with Nakura since I’m not familiar with the old arrangement)
