I pretty much grew up at Tondo.....graduated elementary from Magat Salamat Elementary School, finished high school at Torres High School and earned by degree at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila....and I can tell you for a fact that the new site where they relocated those high school kids is a high-risk area......
risky from what? crime? or my fault lines diyan?

Sagot nila.... 5 to 1 yan kasi daming galit kay Lim.

If Lim has done something good, it was salvaging criminals.

if you're going to compare the San Juan of Erap (late '60s to early '80s) as against today's Manila, it would be a no-contest...hands down, San Juan of old wins in all aspects......the only setback would be, during Erap's term as mayor, he had a very good relationship with Malacanang....if he wins this time in Manila, he won't have the same good favors from the powers that be......

you don't need a good relationship with the national gov't to be an effective local leader, robredo was not allied with gloria, bayani fernando was not close to fvr, but they did well.

then you should do more research on Erap's legacy as San Juan's mayor for 16 years...

do you even know that Erap left San Juan with P24 million in savings when he was replaced by Cory Aquino after the EDSA revolt? San Juan had the highest budget savings amongst all municipalities and cities within Metro Manila.....and do you even know who paved the way for the concreting of almost 98% of San Juan's roads and alleys?

Erap as president was able to increase the Gross National Product up to 3.6% while raising agricultural growth rate to 6.6% from virtual 0% growth. Inflation went down from 12% to roughly about 9%. And the Philippine currency proved to be the strongest currency in SEA during the SEA financial crunch performing much better than the Thailand baht and even the Singapore dollar.

"the deviation between the Philippines's forecast growth rate in 1998 and its actual performance was by far the smallest of the Asian countries. This was not simply a matter of luck: the forecast revisions were also the smallest, indicating that the forecasters believed that the Philippines was likely to be the least affected of the Asian countries. There are essentially two explanations: first, that the Philippine financial sector was stronger than others around the region, and second, that the Philippines was uniquely insulated from regional contagion"

may I ask, are you part of the middle-class or the masses during Erap's time as president? I'm part of the middle-class during those time and I felt a certain degree of improvement....specially when the inflation went down which translated to a more stable price for the primary commodities.....
