Question GPS Watches, GPS Phones and running related equipment Discussion

I took up "running" sometime middle of this year out of....uhmm..."necessity" and for "recovery" purposes.

Since most...well, all of my rubber shoes have always been Nikes I was very glad to have found out about http://nikeplus.nike.com/plus/
At least now, kahet papano I have some way of tracking my "progress"...or lack thereof..

I'm thinking sana of getting either the GPS watch or Fuel...but I think an Android phone/tablet would be much better than either of the two. Ewan...."confused" na ako right now.

So any of you guys/gals into it? What Nike+ gadgets are you using?

I recommend getting a GPS watch.

Garmin is a good brand and used by most runners. Based sa online reviews, it is the most accurate and mabilis to get a signal. I own a garmin and I am happy with it. I use it all the time.

Another brand to look at is Soleus kasi affordable. I have one too and it's not that accurate pero pwede na din lalo if you have a limited budget.

Timex is not recommended sa online reviews pero okay for fitness use.

I was planning to get one and since all of my running shoes are nike na may nike plus na capability pero I got my garmin na. Okay na ako duon.

Most likely hindi accurate kse baka wala ka nung Nike+ sensor (although alam ko hindi na necessary, unless siguro indoor running)....you might just need to recalibrate it. Also, you don't need a GPS watch na...*** Nike+ App sa iPhone maps GPS location already (kailangan lang nga naka GPRS-enabled ang iPhone - that means, nag iincur ka ng airtime expense each time its turned-on)

    See--> http://nikeplus.nike.com/plus/products/

Yung pinakamura ngayon sa market is yung Soleus. Pero 5k pa rin yung price. Hehe.. Pero pag-iisipan ko to kasi baka in the long run, sulit naman.

Thanks...but Im really set na in getting the Android GPRS-enabled phones na with GPS...run by Nike+Apps, Besides, for adding a little more pessoses na lang...i get a lot of other uses pa for the Android phone/tablet...

And also, I think this thread's title should really be "NIKE+ Running" or at least, have NIKE+ or Nike+ Fuel in the heading....because, Nike+ owners have their own online Community for data tracking (with or without GPS)---that's why i titled it that way. I wanted to know who else uses it.

Does Soleus or Garmin have that kind of online tracking system specific for runners?!?

    Nike+ Screen Name

Over ang price ng Garmin sa budget ko and medyo "overkill" na for me, just to get a reliable GPS watch...di pa naman ako pinababalek sa bundok ni boss ...Besides, that would mean another "monitoring" watch on my wrist, aside from the Nike+ Sportsband which I use often (yung synching into the NikePlus Community lang naman ang importante saken) so I'll definitely go for an Android-GPS ready phone...dunno how it will affect Nike+ Fuel updates if 2 devices ang gamet at the same time.

Btw, speaking of which....what is your Nike+ Screen Name?
    Mine is:

How inaccurate ba ang smartphones with GPS vs GPS watches?

  18. #18

  19. #19
