Pop Star Princess wins top honor at 25th Awit Awards
MANILA, Philippines -- Sarah Geronimo readily disagreed with a supposed remark by a veteran
composer on her life achievements -- that the only thing lacking in her life now is a "boyfriend."
At the sidelines of the 25th Awit Awards held Tuesday night, Geronimo was asked to respond to an
alleged remark by composer Vehnee Saturno after the Pop Star Princess won at the annual awarding
ceremony: "Boyfriend na lang ang kulang."
"Wala po 'yun. Hindi totoo 'yon," Geronimo said of the remark. "Hindi naman 'yun ang makakapag-
kumpleto sa 'kin as a person. 'Yung pagmamahal ko talaga, unang-una muna sa Diyos, at sa sarili
ko, kailangan matutunan ko 'yun."
Before she was romantically linked to actor Gerald Anderson early this year, Geronimo was rumored
to have had a blooming relationship with actor Rayver Cruz. Her aborted romance with the two
actors were supposedly caused by the disapproval of Geronimo's parents.
Asked Tuesday night about Anderson, the singer-actress respectfully declined to answer, saying,
"Huwag na lang po natin pag-usapan."
"Panalo na ako sa mga pagmamahal ng mga tao sa paligid ko eh," the 24-year-old singer added. "Wala
na akong hihilingin pa. I couldn't ask for more."
Winning career
Having won the Best-Selling Album of The Year award at the 2012 Awit Awards for "One Heart,"
Geronimo indeed has other reasons to be happy.
"Iba 'yung joy pag nare-recognize ka sa mga trabaho mo. Hindi ko akalain na mabibigyan ako ng
award for this album, kasi last year pa po ito eh. Magte-10 years na po ako sa business, at it's
good to know na naa-appreciate parin 'yung ginagawa ko as an artist," Geronimo said.
The Pop Star Princess added that she dedicates her latest recognition not only to her family, but
also to her ever supportive fans. "Of course sa Panginoon, sa pamilya ko, to everyone who bought
Grabe talaga, sobra 'yung support nila," she
said.
With a self-titled concert variety program to her name ("Sarah G Live"), the actress-singer said
she intends to continue entertaining fans. She also expressed gratitude for being entrusted with
the Sunday night program.
"Unang-una sa lahat, gusto ko magpasalamat sa ABS-CBN, dahil napakalaking proyekto po nito para sa
akin. Sariling show ko po ito," she said.
"Nandoon palagi 'yung pressure, pero as long as may mga tao kaming napapasaya at nae-entertain,
nandodoon pa rin kami," she added.
*Sarah on John Lloyd: 'I'm happy to see him happy'

MANILA -- John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo have managed to rekindle their friendship despite a
prolonged break from shooting their romantic-comedy film series.
"It's a joy, kasi ang tagal na since we last worked together," Geronimo told reporters shortly
after the 25th Awit Awards ceremony held Tuesday night.
"Masaya ako na nanumbalik 'yung friendship namin, 'yung magandang working relationship namin,
better talaga. Masaya kami sa set," the actres-singer added.
After being delayed a number of times since it was first announced in mid-2011, the film with the
working title "It Takes a Man and a Woman" is now slated for release on Valentine's Day, according
Viva Entertainment head Vic del Rosario.
Originally slated for release in July this year, the third installment in the Cathy Garcia-Molina
-directed film franchise only managed to resume filming in September.
With her first team-up with Cruz in "A Very Special Love" (2008) drawing loyal fans -- their
organized clubs dub themselves "AshLloyds" (Asher is Geronimo's second name) -- Geronimo hopes "It
Takes a Man and a Woman" will be able to replicate the success of the first two films in terms of
"kilig" and box-office performance.
"Syempre 'yun 'yung goal namin, na maibalik 'yung kilig, 'yung kilig na naramdaman nila doon sa
first movie palang, sana bumalik 'yun. At sana 'yung love story meron kaming maibigay na lesson sa
kanila," the singer said.
In February, Cruz and Geronimo detailed some aspects of the film, saying that it will be set three
years after the second entry in the series.
“Sa bawat relationship naman, laging may changes ‘di ba? Ito may time lapse so makikita natin kung
ano ang pagbabago kay Laida at sa relationship nila,” Geronimo said at the time.
On Tuesday, the singer also said they feel pressured to live up to the box-office success of the
first two films, which are among the Top 10 highest-grossing Filipino films of all time.
"Double 'yung pressure, kasi ito 'yung last installment namin para sa mga pelikulang ginawa namin
ni John Lloyd, so talagang pinagtatrabahuhan nang mabuti, pinapaganda 'yung script, para sa
viewers natin," Geronimo said.
Since they last worked together in "You Changed My Life" (2009), which sparked rumors linking them
romantically, Geronimo and Cruz have had their respective real-life "love teams."
For a time, the Pop Star Princess was rumored to have a blooming romance with actor Gerald
Anderson.
Cruz, on the other hand, is now in a relationship with actress Angelica Panganiban following his
break-up with actress Shaina Magdayao.
"I'm happy to see him happy," Geronimo said of her leading man.
*AFP taps Sarah Geronimo as ambassadress

MANILA, Philippines - The military has tapped singer Sarah Geronimo as ambassadress of its
security plan Bayanihan to lure the public especially the youth to help in the government’s peace
and development efforts.
Geronimo sang the security plan’s theme song, the music video of which was launched on Wednesday
at the Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
“Sarah Geronimo is tapped as the Bayanihan ambassadress because she is a perfect role model for
the youth. She has remained humble despite her lofty status,” Army spokesman Maj. Harold Cabunoc
said.
“She is well-respected in the industry and has the great potential to lure people to be involved
in solving community problems,” she added.
Lesley Cordero, undersecretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office, said Geronimo
waived her P10 million talent fee for the music video.

“She waived her talent fee and there were no questions asked. She said this will serve as the
contribution of the entertainment industry in promoting peace,” Cordero said.
Geronimo, however, was absent during the music video launch reportedly due to a prior commitment.
The launch was attended by Cordero, Cabunoc, Movie Television and Radio Classification Board
member Leah Navarro, Optical Media Bureau chairman Ronald “Ronnie” Rickets and Armed Forces of the
Philippines spokesman Col. Arnulfo Burgos Jr.
Navarro said they are coordinating with theater owners and private media companies so that the
video could be given free airtime.
“The (tapping) of Ms. Geronimo is important since she has many followers and she has a good
reputation,” she said.
Cordero said the video would be uploaded to Youtube soon so that Internet users can be aware of
its message. She hopes the video would become viral in social networking sites.
The Bayanihan theme song was composed by Ltjg. Lady Chatterly Alvaro-Sumbeling and stresses the
need for unity and peace to achieve development.
The video showed images of soldiers teaching school children, conducting relief operations and
joining local festivities. It also showed people from different sectors carrying a nipa hut, the
most popular image of Bayanihan.
The video was created by the collaboration of different state agencies and Viva Entertainment,
Inc.
Sources said the Army is eyeing to commission Geronimo as a reserve officer but is waiting for her
to get a college degree.
Security plan Bayanihan, which took effect in January 2011, aims to end rebellion by addressing
its roots like poverty and access to basic services. The defense plan also stresses the need for
various sectors to participate in peace and development programs.
The military claims Bayanihan is succeeding in curbing insurgency even if armed groups have
managed to launch deadly attacks during its implementation.
*Army mulls recruiting Sarah Geronimo for reserve force
By Nikko Dizon
Philippine Daily Inquirer
MANILA, Philippines–Move over Manny Pacquiao. The country’s Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo could just
be the next poster child of the Philippine Army.
The Philippine Daily Inquirer learned that the Army is thinking of commissioning Geronimo into the
military’s reserve force after her support for the Armed Forces of the Philippines campaign to win
the peace.
Geronimo, 24, sang the Army’s “Bayanihan: Para sa Kapayapaan” theme song, complete with a music
video that was launched Wednesday at the Army headquarters.
The AFP was able to save P10 million from the total cost of the music video production after
Geronimo waived her multi-million peso talent fee upon learning that the project was for the
government’s peace advocacy.
“She waived her talent fee and there were no questions asked. She said this will serve as the
contribution of the entertainment industry in promoting peace,” Undersecretary Lesley Jeanne
Cordero of the Presidential Communications Operations Office said in a press conference at the
Army headquarters.
However, Geronimo and her manager, VIVA Entertainment big boss, Vic del Rosario, were both unable
to attend the music video’s launch because of their tight schedules.
Geronimo so impressed the AFP leadership with her humility and sincerity that a military official
told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that the pop star might be asked to join the Armed Forces as a
reserve officer.
“We’ll wait for her to finish her college degree so that she could be commissioned as an officer,”
the military official said, on condition of anonymity, as he was not authorized to discuss the
idea.
Pacquiao, a district representative of Sarangani Province, was commissioned into the Army first as
a sergeant until he became a Lieutenant Colonel for bringing pride to the Philippines for his feat
as a boxing champion.
Army spokesperson Maj. Harold Cabunoc said that Geronimo was tapped to sing the AFP’s peace theme
song because of her reach to the youth sector.
Cabunoc said that through the “Bayanihan” song, the military wanted to raised public awareness and
send the message that “winning the peace is a shared responsibility among various stakeholders,”
which include the youth sector.
An Army statement said that the “Bayanihan” song was composed and originally performed by LTJG
Lady Chatterly Alvaro-Sumbeling, a younger sister of singer DJ Alvaro.
The Army also said that there would be a simultaneous launching of the “Bayanihan” music video in
all television and radio stations nationwide, as well as on the Internet, social media sites, and
in selected movie houses.
The production and release of the music video was done in collaboration with various government
agencies and Viva Entertainment, Inc.

MANILA, Philippines -- Sarah Geronimo threw her support behind fellow singer Regine Velasquez, who
lost her voice during her silver anniversary concert early this month.
"Nagulat ako eh. Sobrang mabigat sa dibdib," Geronimo told reporters shortly after the 25th Awit
Awards ceremony held Tuesday night, referring to the veteran singer who was visibly distraught at
her concert last November 16 when she lost her voice.
"Sobrang sakit na makitang umiiyak siya. Syempre lahat ng tao nag-iiyakan doon sa venue," added
Geronimo, whose rise to fame was via the talent search "Star for a Night" in 2003 with Velasquez
as the host.
During the concert held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Velasquez apologized time and again to the
audience, explaining that prior to her performance that night, she already knew she had a viral
infection that could cause her to lose her voice.
"Pero sobrang naiintindihan namin si Ms. Reg. Katulad nga ng sinabi ni Vice (Ganda), wala nang
kailangan patunayan ang nag-iisang Asia's Songbird," Geronimo said.
Vice Ganda, who was among the audience at Velasquez's 25th anniversary concert, joined the veteran
singer on stage along with John Lapus for some impromptu comedic banter. Velasquez had enlisted
the help of the two comedian-hosts when she was no longer able to perform that night.
"Nandoon tayo para maki-celebrate kasama siya para sa kanyang 25th year in the business," Geronimo
said. "So 'yung makasama siya sa pag-celebrate, 'yun lang 'yung gusto namin."
Meanwhile, in an interview with entertainment news site Philippine Entertainment Portal,
Valesquez's husband Ogie Alcasid said the singer is currently still recovering. "Meron pa ring
konti sa boses niya. Hindi pa 100% recovered," he said.
Of the "Take Two" concert, which was earlier announced for December 8, Alcasid added, "Hindi ko
alam, e.

*Gold and platinum goes to…
Announcement - Posted by admin
The episode of Sarah G Live last November 25th was one celebrity-packed episode which successfully
concealed the wonderful surprise for Sarah. She got up the stage and blew the roof off when she
opened the show with “Titanium” and her duet with Matteo Guidicelli.
First up was the forever gorgeous Ms. Dawn Zulueta who shared some of her acting and beauty tips.
She even mentioned that she’s hopefully waiting for a project that she and Sarah can co-star in.
Next were the RnB icons and former Southborder vocalists, Duncan Ramos and Luke Mijares. They
amazingly sang their hits “Kahit Kailan” and “Love of My Life” with Sarah flawlessly taking on the
high parts.
The handsome doctor Hayden Kho came up after, and he and Sarah had a really funny and light talk
about courtship and love concerns. And guess what? The doctor can sing, too!
Smash up came on and Sarah danced with the Luv U teen stars Kiray Celis, Miles Ocampo, Igi Flores,
and Alfred Labatos, together with Gab Valenciano and the G Force to the mix of DJ Big Beats.
The surprise came before Sarah’s statement song. Off-air, she was genuinely surprised when Diether
Ocampo and Matteo held two awards, one gold and one platinum.
Finally, Sarah’s rendition of John Lennon’s “Imagine” no doubt touched each one of us in different
ways.
