Isabel Oli at John Prats, naglalambingan sa ‘Instagram’

Two weeks ago lang nang makausap namin si Isabel Oli at ‘yun ang week na fasting sa church.

Sinabi niya nang tanungin daw siya kung ano ang mga gusto niyang ipag-fast o prayer request, isa sa nasa list niya ay sana raw magka-dyowa na siya.

Kuwento ni Isabel, mahigit isang taon na raw siyang walang karelasyon.

Natatawa nga ito nang nagkukuwento dahil natatawa raw ang mga sinabihan at sinigurado pa kung totoo raw na prayer request nga niya.

Pero mukhang mabilis nga ang sagot sa prayer request ni Isabel. Nakikita namin sa Instagram account ni Isabel ang mga palitan nila ng messages ng Kapamilya star na si John Prats.

Pati mga kaibigan nila ay tinutukso rin sila. Si John ay madalas din ang comments kay Isabel at ilang posting nila mapa-picture o quote man ito ay parang direktang para sa isa’t isa.

Bukod sa unang picture na pinost ni John na magkasama sila at may caption na nakaka-miss daw si Isabel, may picture rin kailan lang na magkasama sila with their friends.

Ilang comments naman ng mga followers nila ang nabasa namin at may ilan dito na nagsasabi agad na bagay raw sila. May iba naman na nag-warning kay Isabel dahil diumano ay may “playboy image” raw si John.

At meron ding nagsabi na, ex na naman daw ni Gab. Si Gab ay si Gabriel Valenciano. Naging girlfriend ni Gab si Rachelle Ann Go na naging girlfriend din ni John.

Si Isabel, kung hindi kami nagkakamali, si Gab ang huling nakarelasyon. Sinubukan naming hingan ng sagot si Isabel sa mga palitan nila ng messages ni John sa Instagram nila kung ito na ba ang answered prayer niya.

Matipid lang ang naging sagot niya ng, “Ha! Ha! Friend lang,” na may kasamang smiley face.

Pero biniro namin itong sabeee nga? Saka sumagot nang, “Oo. Seryoso.”

Well, let’s wait and see at mukhang kung anuman ang friendship na meron sila ngayon ay nagsisimula pa lang talaga.

Sa Twitter nagpasalamat si Heart Evangelista sa mga tumutok sa pilot episode ng Forever dahil mataas ang rating nila, kailangan lang laging may maganda at bagong napapanood ang viewers para patuloy na tutukan ang soap na tungkol sa forever love.

Ang bilis ng takbo ng istorya at ang gaganda ng location na napili ni Direk Ricky Davao. Kaya naman very proud sina Heart at Geoff Eigenmann na sa kanila ibigay ang project na ito.

Si Gloria Romero nga, tuwing nai-interview, laging nagpapasalamat sa GMA-7 for giving her a beautiful project.

Hindi nito akalain na at 79 years old, magbibida pa siya sa isang primetime soap.

Sila nina Heart at Geoff ang pinaka-main cast ng story at isa sa inaabangan ng viewers ay ’pag bumabata si Gloria at tumatanda si Heart.

Ricky Davao’s maturity as director shines in Forever

With Ricky Davao now at the helm of GMA 7’s epic period drama Forever, our thoughts go back to the time when we were with The Manila Times publications, and Ricky Davao with Michael de Mesa became our very first wards when talent management was in its infancy. Ricky was a student at Mapua completing Management Industrial Engineering, rushing to rehearsals at CCP’s Tanghalang Pilipino. Although he entertained thoughts of priesthood, becoming a doctor, his attraction to acting was something different. He had been seriously bitten by the bug.

“It’s a certain high you get that is priceless,” he was explaining to Jose Cabaltera of FEU. “When in front of an audience, you control their every move. In one instance, they cry, the next they laugh. They listen, they react. I become a different person and experience all these things that as Ricky Davao, I won’t experience,” he muses.

We had found difficulty keeping up with his hectic pace of studies, acting and girls in between. This was in the ’80s and soon enough, he made waves in the play Bongbong at Kris where Ricky was Bongbong and Tricia Amper Jimenez was Kris, an improbable love story between then President Marcos’ son and his archrival Ninoy Aquino’s daughter Kris.

As a young man, Ricky was tirelessly pursuing various interests in an effort of finding his final muse. One day, he brought us to My Other Office sing-along bar in Malate where he and writers Mario Hernando and Pete Lacaba would sing ’til dawn. This would lead to Ricky’s passion for singing that he has never lost, becoming known for having a minus-one in his pocket ready to give in to requests.Pete soon enough would exercise his writer’s wand, giving birth to Salinawit as he translated popular songs in various languages into Pilipino. As of last count, he was into his 134th song. Last Tuesday,we attended the reunion concert of Salinawit pioneers with Pete as head, Cookie Chua of the band Color it Red, advertising guru Reli German, Ricky and piano wizard Ferdie Borja. This was a groupsinging monthly at the Conspiracy Bar on Visayas Avenue, with their very own Salinawit followers often exercising their own vocal cords at the microphone.

What we found disarming in Ricky is that he had brought with him to the gig his entire Forever crew of assistant directors, cinematographers and the stunt director for a night of song, food and letting one’s hair down. Tonight, he wasn’t boss Direk Ricky, he was a friend sharing his private world with them.Ricky got his first taste of directing in 1996 on MMK’s anniversary special of actors directing. If in acting Ricky felt the wonder of becoming a different person with each role, in directing it’s another high, he shares with Jose Cabaltera. “You’re there on the set all the time. You’re the captain of the ship or a painter and the show is your canvas,” Ricky was telling him. Ricky details how he worked until four in the morning the previous night. “We shot 40 sequences,” he beams with a combination of pride and disbelief at his own prolific feat. Many viewers are not aware of the networks’ incredible deadlines where directors are given 24 hours to complete TV episodes. “You drink five to seven cups of coffee a day just to perk up or wake up. But this is the system and I’m doing it because I’m enjoying it,” Ricky continues.

Ricky tells us that GMA offered him the new project before his last series ended. Forever stars the legendary Gloria Romero, Heart Evangelista and Geoff Eigenmann in a story of the enduring power of love despite time, distance and death. A period film in the ’50s, sugar heiress Adora (Heart) falls in love with poor farmer Ramon (Geoff) despite her father’s disapproval. She is promised to a rich man’s son (Marc). This forbidden romance ends in Ramon’s death but we all know, and so does Adora that her love will return someday, perhaps in another shape, form, or person.

Ricky describes himself as a visual director, inspired by Japan’s Akihiro Kurosawa. His directorial assignments have ranged from Calvento Files, Star Drama, Wansapanataym, Makapiling Kang Muli, Kokak, Sisid, Grazilda to Coffee Prince and Forever. We have watched some episodes of Forever and find it definitely the work of a mature director. His future is now assured.

Our remaining dream for Ricky is for him to finally direct his long-delayed project Hiblang Abo, the Movie, which its writer, the late Rene Villanueva rewrote for him. He has trained long enough for it. The play, originally written in 1980, tells of the grief, fears and sorrows that haunt four old men living in a Home for the Aged. Ricky’s initial cast of his dad Charlie Davao, Dolphy, Paquito Diaz, are now all gone. Only Eddie Garcia remains. We look forward to auditions soon.

Ire-replay ng GMA-7 this Sunday, bago ang Party Pilipinas ang pilot week ng Forever entitled The Beginning of Forever.

Mabilis ang pacing ng primetime soap na napapanood bago ang 24 Oras, sa first two days pa lang, marami nang nangyari at malayo na ang napuntahan ng story nito.

Kahit matagal hindi nagtambal, malakas pa rin ang chemistry nina Geoff Eigenmann at Heart Evangelista. Ang Forever din ang nagpaiyak kay Ms. Gloria Romero dahil sa ganda ng story. Si Ricky Davao ang director ng Forever.

Biro ng mga co-star ni Gloria Romero sa kanyang bagong series, Forever, on GMA 7, mabuti raw at nami-maintain niya ang kanyang figure conside*ring nga naman that both her daughter, Maritess, at son nitong si Christopher, are now certified chefs.

Eh mother and son ay kasama ni Gloria sa bahay. Kaya one can imagine nga naman the kind of food served by her mag-ina during mealtime.

But as Gloria said in one interview before, gaano man raw karami ang kanyang kinakain, ewan kung bakit hindi siya tabain. Sabi nga sa kanya ng kanyang mga dating kasamahan sa Sampaguita Pictures, lucky siya to have been born with maliliit daw na bones.

Kaya nami-maintain niya ang kanyang weight.

Now nearing 80, Gloria started her showbiz career when she was 16 years old.

Doesn’t she think of retiring?

Sagot niya, ‘‘Siguro habang kailangan pa ako ng industriya, ’di ko iiwanan ang business na ito. This is the only hanapbuhay that I know. And I must admit na because of showbiz, nagkaroon ako ng magandang buhay at ang aking pamilya.

‘‘Kaya, whenever I’m asked if I have any regrets being an actress, I sincerely admit, wala. And, would you believe, na hanggang ngayon may excitement na akong nadarama sa tuwing humaharap ako sa ca*mera?

‘‘Kaya how do you part ways sa mahal mo at naging bahagi na ng buhay mo all these years?’’

And did you know, too, Salve A., na in all the years na naging artista si Gloria ay never na na-involve siya sa kahit anong klase ng intriga?

HINDI rin nagpatalbog sila Gloria Romero, Geoff Eigenmann at Heart Evangelista sa katapat na programa dahil nakakuha din ito ng magandang ratings nu’ng umere ang period love story nilang Forever.

Kasi naman, kakaibang konsepto ng pag-iibigan ang hatid ng tatlong bida sa GMA drama. Araw-araw ay exciting ang episodes na pinalalabas dahil hinihintay ng manonood ang pagtatagpo ng dating lovers na sina Geoff at Heart na kahit sa bagong panahon ay si Gloria na ang kaanyuan nito, huh!

So sa gustong makaranas ng wagas na pagmamahal, ang Forever ang kasagutan sa hiling ninyo, huh!

On whether wedding bells will soon ring for him and Heart, Senator Chiz obviously wants his ladylove to take charge of the issue.

“We may be constantly talking about the possibility of getting married,” said Heart, “I doubt, though, if it will be this soon.”

Senator Chiz’ marriage to Tintin Flores reportedly has been annulled. They have twins, a boy and a girl.

“I am fond of them,” Heart revealed.

Heart is busy taping her new show, “Forever,” which co-stars her with Gloria Romero and Geoff Eigenmann.

She looks forward to doing a movie in time.

Sa pagpasok ng Buwan ng mga Puso, we asked your favorite Kapuso stars kung ano ang ibig sabihin ng pagiging isang Kapuso para sa kanila. Here is the first batch of celebrity answers.

after severald days, napanood ko pala uli yung FOREVER kanina. Maganda talaga siya. So far, pulido yung story, galing ni Tita Glo and Heart. Sana lang wag mababoy ang story sa gitna dahil pag di sumablay yan, magiging classic ang soap na ito. Worth nga ito sa 830pm timeslot more than PNS na naging dragging na.

Siguro naumay lang ako sa mga roles ni Heart noon na api-apihan. kasi gustong-gusto ko yung role nila ni tita Glo ngayon - yung matalino, palaban, mataray. Fresh ang dating sa 'kin. Yung pagiging sweet at mabait ni Saab Magalona, nakakapanibago rin.

Kaya ni Heart gayahin yung galaw ni tita Glo. Natawa ako noong naglalakad siya sa hallway, may job interview kasi - kuha ni Heart yung lakad ni tita Glo.

Oo, maganda siya talaga. Hindi pa-sweet si Heart, sakto lang ang timpla ng character ng lola ko ngayon. And as always, ang galing-galing talaga ni Tita Glo, magnetic talaga siya.

Surprisingly nga na ang sweet-sweetan ng image ni Saab dito.

Ganda ng chemistry ni Candy Pangilinan both with Tita Glo and Heart, na nakakalimutan ko na magkaiba talaga si Tita Glo and Heart, na-convince ako na they are one and the same person.

Bilib nga ako kay tita Glo kasi for a 79 yr.-old, ang lakas niya at ang galing ng memory. Ang bilis ding umiyak parang si Heart.

Puwede palang maging mabait si Saab.

Si Candy ang pang-break ng heavy scenes. Kasi 'di ba sabi nila, kailangang may nagko-comedy para 'di puro iyakan at 'yon usually ang ginagawa ng sidekick ng bida.
